Cheadle Hulme Village back in the 1960's
The days when you could go to the airport for a day out to watch the planes and have a cup of tea.....
Any connection the the Butters family in filming this ?
From the days when BA recognised they had a duty to serve the regions.
I lived on Gainsborough Road in Warrington in my youth in the '70s and we would watch the Chester Road swing bridge operate and occasionally would be allowed on the bridge when it operated (if the MSC employee was in a good mood). I notice the semaphore indicator on the wall end (the bottom left of the Esso Purfleet ship scene) and I'm sure this was a indicator to the operator that the bridge was correctly aligned with the road.... Thanks for posting.
And before automatic gates controlled from the cabin? Donkey's years ago.
One of three bridges in Warrington.

thanks for sharing - made my families day seeing that
No - That is the only stuff I have on Cheadle Hulme. The other is Ringway as was - Again some time in late 60's perhaps early 70's The only other is building the M62
mine too - the widening of station rd was 1967 - which is what is being shown. Amazing historical document, must have been a decent camera too as the colour is so rich and a pretty good zoom for the time. my dads camera work is all over but still i am piecing together all his films, we lived on lorna rd back then.. Is there any more?
Its the cars and buses that gets me. Esp the 3 wheeler at the start. It must be mid 60's 'cos my dad only got the cine camera 63ish
wow i think that may have been my dad and brother crossing the street at one point
Fascinating footage, thank you for uploading.
