A shining star worth remembering 40 years on 🙏🎸🎤
He sang "Errol, I would give everything, just to be like him" Not long after that he did give everything and he was just like Errol..
Guy your still here in your music and videos You sang amazingly and made James sound better then he was similar to Ian moss & barnsey RIP my friend
RIP Guy surly missed xxxxxx
Ele morreu do quê? What was the cause of his death?
Miss him every day ❤
Same here, he was an amazing and supremely talented man ❤ He achieved so much in 28 years, just wish he was still here… 🤍
Guy was an amazing singer , song writer ❤️
This takes me right back to the early 80s, when it was such a vibrant exciting time in the aussie music scene. Hearing Guy speaking with such positivity is so sad now. Such an iconic aussie band.
I wish a mini series would be made about Australian Crawl, like the one made for INXS. AC were supreme talents and so important to the Aussie music industry, still so loved by many. Bill McDonough’s book ‘Sons of Beaches’ was AMAZING!!! The book should also be made into a movie! It would be epic!!!! ❤
Love it!
Haunting song ... Simon on guitar according to Bills Great book Sons of Beaches
Unfortunately, that time, heroine and alcohol you can hear it in his voice it’s terrible, poor bugger that man is a legend
Great songwriter singer the band couldnt move on without him..The perils of hard drugs very sad..
Amazing
Nigel Spencer passed away in the US, aged about 68, apparently from complications from the coronavirus in 2020 RIP Nigel.
His brother has written a book 'Sons of Beaches' out now
It’s an awesome read! Bill did an amazing job! Love the McDonough brothers, so much talent ❤❤👌🏼👌🏼
@Lee_Sunny_74 he did a great honour to himself, Guy and all involved, I so, so enjoyed it and am grateful he wrote it🎉
@fingerprint5511 so true Bill did an outstanding job!!! I enjoyed it so much too, it was riveting and impossible to put down - it was that good!!! I too feel extremely grateful to Bill for writing his memoir, I love his and Guy’s work and to read the truth about their lives and experiences was a real privilege. 👍🏼⭐️👌🏼❤️
Great Interview. Saw Guy With Australian Crawl Perform In Ballarat Back in 1981. Great Vocals. Such A Talented Song Writer Singer. RIP. I Saw James Reyne Band Recently. GG❤

Guy McDonough - an Aussie legend 🤍 forever young and forever remembered ❤
RIP GUY you’re a legend great musician ect ect the list goes on . Sadly missed and your music treasured for eternity. I didn’t even realise you were a great drummer as well. Hope to meet you in person in the next life. Hope The good Lord Jesus is taking care of you you’re a true champion. 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
He made Australian crawl
Guy and the Crawl were our Rolling Stones, but not quite as well known
I saw Crawl and Guy early 80's at Sydney's Celina's and back of Manly Vale area, Hotel (don't remember name) Luckily we were right up close to the band, GREAT night's and MEMORIES! A really special time in Australia's culture. Thanks Guy and all. Life's short make it count, what your doing.
What a waste
Extremely good songwriter. Such a loss he was
This had me crying, its beautiful. So tragic, so young and talented. Im so sorry 🌹
This song always has me in tears. It has from when I first heard it. The pain is palpable.
A brilliant voice with a quiet presence , the sign of a true artist. Still enjoying his work .
Really miss him😔
It’s been many years ago since Guy passed away in 1984 from Pneumonia, but years later it was said that Guy may have had AIDS contribute to his early death. According to James Reyne, Guy was one of his favourite singers. Guy’s brother Bill used to play drums in Australian Crawl until the other members of the band decided to sack him, and according to Simon Binks one of the band members who voted to sack Bill as the band’s drummer was Guy himself and the band then got John Watson to take over. Simon Binks would go on to say that Guy McDonough’s guitar playing at times was not up to scratch because Guy would be getting drunk and Simon would have to re-record some of Guy’s guitar tracks. Many years later, James Reyne still performed the songs that Guy sung lead vocals on in Australian Crawl. Guy’s brother Bill McDonough after being sacked from Australian Crawl by the band infuriated James Reyne and Simon Binks by going and registering the band’s name “Australian Crawl” as a registered trademark that he owns. By then, Brad Robinson the other main member of the band had also passed away. David Reyne was I think the original drummer of Australian Crawl before Bill McDonough. After Guy passed away, Bill McDonough located some unreleased recordings of Guy performing lead vocals with Australian Crawl and released them on a CD called “Lost & Found” released in 1996 by Global Records - twelve years after Guy’s death. It was a compilation album and also featured songs from other albums including Guy’s solo album “My Place”. There were songs on “Lost & Found” also performed by Colin Hay a friend of the band and featured him on lead vocals of Australian Crawl, but was best known from the band “Men At Work”
I used to own a copy of lost and found cd, its quite rare I think. I never knew Bill got sacked , I always thought he just quit. Didnt care for thr later Crawl so much.Such a great band.
did Bill get sacked bc they were looking for a fresh look to break the U.S ? seems rather coincidental that he was sacked when Chapman came along.Big case of getting ahead of themselves, not Bill,i reckn, also Karma's a bearch and played a big part by the looks of it after sacking Bill, all the evidence is there that they released nuthin but tripe, save for "Reckless"after sacking Bill and Guys passing

The music video was so emotional to watch the first I saw it but it also put a big smile on my face. What a tragedy! Thanks for posting.
R.I.P Guy. This is an epic and a beautiful one. This is quite emotional even now, decades after Guy’s death. You can feel the pain in his voice. Rest well, bud. Thank you for posting.
RIP Guy
thanks very much for adding this on Nigel! this is special stuff here. RIP Guy.
Nigel, thanks for publishing this. Maybe if we can manage to make it over in 2022 we’ll have to come by and pay homage to Mornington for spawning such amazing music.
Hi Nigel, thanks for the great site. Great music! Enjoying it in 2021 in USA!
Personally, I think Errol is the best Crawl song by far. This fella was the true voice of Aussie Crawl, no doubt. Just my two bobs worth..
Great vid thanks. How good would have been a show with Australian Crawl AND Men at Work. Two brilliant Aussie rock acts.
Only 28, just starting his life but already so successful.the vocals surprise me.
Hi Nigel. Loved working with you guys in 84 at Music Farm. Like ur mix and video of My Place. Always liked Footsteps. First heard it when Mark Williams played it to me on acoustic gtr. Greg Engineer

Absolutely !!!! I played and recorded with Guy for years. He and James were roommates for quite a few years and James picked up a lot from him. See guymcdonough.com for more Guy.
After growing up with JR I’m now appreciating Aus Crawl and Guy.....I had no idea Guy sang the songs he did!
@@nigelgspencer Guy even wrote Downhearted off Boys Light Up, When he wasn't a member of the band, Could of fronted the band full time with ease, He was the hit-maker!
