Hey FlightGearUser, I have also found that du-gu-du-gu works for a smoother sound than tu-ku-tu-ku. You may also want to respond to levinzify- I think you may have inadvertently responded to my response to his initial inquiry

I learned it with du-gu du-gu du-gu and du-du-gu. My tip: Don't believe the Book of ARBAN, his double tounge is seems very hard to me. Good Luck!

Hmm probably the best approach to solving this problem might be to think too-goo-too-goo rather than tu-ku-tu-ku. It might even help to think du-gu-du-gu at first. But man that is one of the hardest things about trumpet. That's why a lot of professionals work on their single tonguing to the point of being able to single tongue songs like this. However, that is not necessary if you can adjust your double tongue correctly. Good luck man

i have to say one thing... i really freakin want that trumpet! it looks amazing! Also, on a side note, im playing bugler's holiday with two friends of mine for an ensemble, any tips on the double-tounging technique, our's is too percussive. any tips for a lighter sound to it?

@Mr29635 This is the very special Monette Elysian trumpet, and actually that's not the bell. It's so heavily decorated that there is an extra layer of decorative sheet over the bell, and that's why it looks so big! Quite an amazing trumpet
