I interviewed Paul roughly twenty years ago, and I could kick myself now for not asking to buy some originals from him then. Of course, even though they wouldn't have been remotely as pricy as they are now, I still couldn't have afforded them. ~sigh

Only yesterday, I was bagging up my copies of Kaluta`s Star Struck comic and today discover this interview....how cool! I had the pleasure of meeting Mike, Bernie Wrightson and Jeffrey (Catherine) Jones, at Andromeda Bookshop in Birmingham, way back when they were in the UK promoting The Studio. My signed copy of the book, is still one of my most treasured posessions! Unfortunately Barry Smith didn`t want to travel outside of London but a great moment nonetheless.

Great interview! I was trying to read his books in the background. It is really cool that you interviewed him in his studio. I hope you can interview Barry Windsor-Smith as the other surviving former member of The Studio.

Still one of my heros. It was Mike who got me to think about art, rather than just draw, aping other comic art The biggest inspiration came with an installment of Starstruck in Heavy Metal. That was a good slap in the face. I met both Mike and Bernie a few years later, and the previlage was mine. Cheers, Mike.

i remember being like, 16 and seeing the bright magenta cover of THB and picking it up on a whim; I became instantly hooked and perused his body of works and he's a big part of my collection, none the less the biggest influence on me when i was drawing constantly at punk shows, house shows, basement shows, etc... A phenom.

You do understand that this paul pope guy's actual rendering is terrible and therefore artistically boring, uninspired. Anyone could draw this crap. Just being honest. 🙃
