another day in the summer at leigh reef, from the wharf, though the river, saw shark patroling in the river mouth, shot a wrasse, it is expensive in the supermarket, try if it taste good or not. saw sting ray got so close. not many legal size snappers around.

get to martin bay, easy parking , changing, many boat launching on this very calm shelter water. walked to the right side of the rocky area, low tide, get in the water, search under rocks, found only kina under rocks, nothing special. water is not very clear, may be 4 meter vis. water is warm in summer, 23c. got a goat fish, black snappers, and finish the trip.

tasty fresh rock crabs, i love the seafood favour so much, monthly low tide, many algae's growing on the rock making it so slippery, really risky to walk on those algae. get there at 11pm, four cars already in the car park, saw some headtorches 500 meters in the front, and 500 meters from the back. it is a very busy night. manage to get 13 crabs back home.

used the sea scooter got to the spot much easier. a lot of black snappers, I got one for a dish of steam whole fish that night. saw two stingrays lay on the bottom, i just look from distance, did not want to wake them up, because them might smell my caught fish. after setting bait for several times, finally I got a 38cm snapper, for sasimi that night.

      I know it is shallow. Deeper always bigger. When go boat rod fishing, normally hooked from 12m to 40m deep.

      I been shore dive coromandal 2021 January. Good visibility, can see 7meter depth clearly from the top. Warm water in January. When I returning back to the shore with my fish bag 5meter behind me, a shark bited my fish bag away. Few days later, a girl died from shark attack at pauanui Beach.

      Man that's really sad to hear..yea always alot of sharks down Coro especially in the summer time when water warms a little Got to be careful when spear fishing esp if your catch bag is still in the water..stay safe out there bro I encountered a atleast 3.5m bronzey around Christmas time scared the shit outta me came out of nowhere lol but yea stay safe bro always good to have a dive buddy I usually do solo missions but yea dive buddy is always good

      67kg, 5mm suit without inner layer, good for water temperature 20c to 10c. 7.5kg belt weight. a bit too much, cos i can't breath without snorkel at surface. 😁

    Unusual to target the Porore ( shit fish ) know to feed on human fecal matter, easy to catch on breaded hook..but not good eating unless it's all you have..

      Army Bay, Silverdale, Auckland. as long as you are far from Auckland, there are more fish and wild lives.

    This is so sad. Kina barren with just a few undersized fish and very little diversity. Used to dive here 30 years ago, was completely different
