I love seeing all these people who were famous in the 90s who you never here from these days. Takes me right back to my childhood, Saturday night with the family, you had Gladiators, then this, then Big Break, then The Generation Game with Bruce Forsyth, then Casualty lol. Real Saturday night telly!

1991-1993 were the best years of the House Party, 1994 was okay, but from the end of series four in 1995 onwards the show took a turn downhill. These years, especially 1993 just show how good it was.

Interesting that this was a rarity that Noel was not gunged or made a fool of in the final episode of the series. It would become the norm from the next series on. The reason being that a few weeks earlier they had already got him when they forced Noel to sing "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" and everyone who had been Gotcha by Noel came on to the set with flowers. Also the bomb scare the previous week may have cancelled any plans to get Noel in the final episode.

1:37 - "Sorry about the blackout last week", this was in response to the fact there was no live show the previous week on Saturday 6th March 1993 due to an IRA bomb scare at the BBC Television Centre in London where the show was made. Instead they aired a "Noel's Christmas Presents" from Christmas 1992 and a Tom and Jerry cartoon in its place. This edition aired on Saturday 13th March 1993.

The whole point of "Crinkley Bottom" and the "Great House" was that the whole place was to be in the viewers mind/imagination. Noel would talk about the week in the village, the great house, and we the viewer make it up in our minds. We picture what it would be like. When you then see the "great house" in the opening titles the magic goes, this was something they totally forgot in 1996.

I am sorry, but that opening titles and music from 1996 onwards was just shite. The 1991-1994 title sequence was the best, with the original House Party music of 1991-1996. From the autumn of 1996 the show took a nose dive for me. This is when it should have ended. Noel himself said he thought 1995 is when the show should have finished.

Please bring it back !!!!!

i'm watching this on the interwebby is it illegal or not?

Not entirely my cup of tea, not having a television I missed most shows. It is curious to me however how the BBC creates stars and then arbitrarily ditches them at some point. I do not notice this happening to properties in the music business. No one could blame Noel for wanting to try and make something more of his legacy than the BBC has done.

Even as a kid I recognised this show as evil incarnate.

I think it would be excellent if the original theme tune was used. Lovely guitar riffs. When it was changed to "Welcome to the House of Fun", that was the beginning of the end. It didn't need changing and we didn't need to be told it was fun. I hope that was a Beeb executive's idea and not Noel's. But even if it's revamped a bit and recorded, I think, for the audience, it's important to include as many of the original show's ingredients as possible, as they were why we loved it. I realise there'll be the need for updating, but you know what I mean. Also, the old guests as well as new ones, would be warmly welcomed. Including the lovely Tony Blackburn :) Give the viewers what they'd love to see. Best of luck with it x

I think the weakest element during the golden years was definitely the party pieces segment. Nobody ever talks about those or remembers a single one. Thank god it was only a very short slot each week, I hate it when talent shows become infested with people making themselves an embarrassment.

Another Episode of House Party Because I like the gunging

I know they got Noel earlier in this series but I always remember as a kid being disappointed that they didn't get him again. Look at series 4! Still to see the video of when Mr. Blobby appears with a foaming machine and gets Noel with it. He looked how should we say...pissed off he weren't expecting it. Good times.

Series 6 tried to be all classy and refined. Music performances never really felt right on the show, despite the party aspect.
