This is my cover of What's Up Duloc from Shrek the Musical. I didn't have the music, so I just transcribed it from the Broadway Cast recording and added a couple of elements. It's actually a great show. Check it out on Netflix. There's a tricky little xylophone lick at around the 4:00 mark. Thanks for watching!

Would the Template you have created for the DK 10 work from the DrumKat 3.5? I could really use that template would it be possible to get that? I am trying to do a setup for Hunchback and need a lot of random hits through out the show like gong/chime and timp at the same time.

What are all the sizes and models?
These are all Avedis Zildjian cymbals. 21”, 19”, 18” and 15” hats.

Thanks Neal! It’s a 16” A Zildjian. Nothing fancy but it does sound good.
I have a spd-30 and am trying to run MainStage for timpani. I honestly want yours because its so much simpler than mine. I just can't get it working!!!
What sound library are you using with MainStage?
@@brianhobson3284 hmm. Actually, my dad seemed to just have fixed it. I'm using Apple's sound library on MainStage. I was having a problem, and it seemed I confused midi notes with actually tuning the timps!!! Thanks anyway!

Yes, I play regularly at the Fine Arts Center in Colorado Springs. At least I did before Corona! Hopefully soon!

Rich Fongheiser No, there is no template. I just grabbed a screenshot of a DK10 and then added 10 drum pads to it. Hope that helps!

Aloha in just bought the same drumkat dk 10 and trying to setup the pad with kontakt 5 using abbey roads Drums sample. I have it working once then turned it off and can’t get back. Totally confused
You might check to make sure you are using the same User Kit on your DK 10. Different user kits send different midi notes on different midi channels. I just use the same user kit for all my setups. Hope that helps.

This is marvelous, Brian. Well explained and fantastic sounding!!! Yes, the bright/dark contrast of the Kontakt looks sooooo much clearer to target. I've 'mis-fired' my DK10 many times. (it's a sniper thang still.....lol). Thanks so much.
I've got envy for this one..... Sizzles are so cool. Tricky to mic and properly get their EQ across though (I always sense they struggled with that on Miles's Kind of Blue LP) (p.s. nice smooth groove on Desmond's '5' classic) Thx for posting!

You're a phenomenal, accurate and ultra-musical drummer, Brian! It is obvious that you "Listen" and your phrase-ears are superlative. Thanx for posting. BTW. Your gear is top rate & sounds great.. Did you have a score for the song or are you going by memory/ear? Also, is the track you're playing to a 'sans drum' format?
Thanks Richard!! I don't have the score for this show. I basically learned the part note-for-note as closely as possible. The track I am playing with is just the original Broadway cast recording. The reason you don't hear the original drums is that I am playing right on top of ( or as closely as possible) the original drum parts. If you listen closely though, you can hear some flamming here and there. If you like this track, check out my other videos. I did a percussion track for What's up Duloc? the same way. Thanks for your kind words.
P.S. If you are the 'Richard' I think you are, I'll be subbing for you on New Years eve! And I believe I've heard you play with another big band in town. You are certainly no slouch yourself!! Look forward to meeting with you soon.

For you techies, I am using Main Stage to run Kontact so I can play timpani, crotales, and handclaps on this chart. This set up is perfect for small environments and sounds really good.
