Review: Cloud-Based BIM Software for Electrical Engineers #BIM #revit #CloudBIM
Looks like a good time to be a software engineer now. Electrical engineers are stuck being AutoDesk's b*** (the least innovative response) while software guys are busy making others their b*** (the most innovative response). EE need to get their act together if they want to call the shots more, not just be the b*** to vendor lock-in.
The reason people even consider BricsCAD is because AutoCAD prices are just no longer acceptable. Like, not even remotely acceptable. If anyone wants a playbook for how an industry can kill its path to innovation compared to the likes of Silicone Valley... AutoCAD is high up there on the list of examples, right up their with Kodak.
Hello, 130.7 H or 130.5 H??
You are right, I misspoke. The correct section is 130.5.
I want to learn Revit Electrical. Please suggest the page or channel
you would not feel a tingling sensations with a 1 volt difference.
I started my SE career with Autodesk internship where I built a plugin for Revit :) then I worked in Robobat I made some plugged na for Revit as well. And at the end of my master degree project I built a migrator tool from AutoCAD to Revit with construction and load Bering's import etc :D
Best CAD plugin out there. Thanks David. You are a league above the industry.
1) Bentley now owns Easypower, so Voltage drop, fault calcs, arcflash and onelines can now be merged right? 2) How about Evolve Electrical?
Yes, Bentley did acquire EasyPower. It does not appear that they have integrated it with OpenBuildings Designer. You can use EasyPower with any of these programs to add those calculations. EVOLVE Electrical does conduit routing for conductors. It is not design software for engineers. It would score a 3 (electrical is mentioned) but it's not trying to do what the scorecard is measuring. ElectroBIM has the ability to export conduit sizes to EVOLVE Electrical.
@@Design_Master_Software Great! I'm looking to add both. They seem a good combo
Where does Lighting design calculations fall using software like Dialux Evo?
Lighting design falls under question #10, "does the program support other advanced electrical calculations?" Design Master Electrical does have lighting calculations included. Nothing else in this list does. If you are using anything else, you'll need to use a separate lighting program.
Is your add-in only for US standards? Do you have option for EU or DACH?
Our default wire sizes are based on US standards. It does work with other standards, but you have to make changes manually for that to work.
The 3-phase, 3-wire pilot exciters on the SR4B Cat generators I work on only have two fuses instead of three. My understanding is if there's overcurrent on any one of the three phases, either one of the two fuses will blow, protecting the circuit. All complete electrical paths must flow through at least one fuse. A third fuse would be superfluous.

This is the most useless video ever. How about listing software, that actually have BIM electircal capabilities? Otherwise, you missed some other essential programs such as Paint, Word, Audacity, Steam and so on. These would perfectly fit in the list you've got going on in this video.
Hi, and thanks for your comment. Indeed, these software programs don’t work for electrical, but we have an entire playlist of BIM electrical software reviews and those cover many more relevant programs. This review is one of the last in that video series and was meant to include a few others we found in our topic research. The full playlist is here (th-cam.com/play/PLPndRVZBdEVNMBrLZgT78CEiDHJE16p2_.html ) and we invite you to watch all our videos on the topic.
@@Design_Master_Software The title says "Review: Roundup of BIM Software for Electrical Engineers". So I'd expect to see actual BIM Software for Electrical Engineers. Had the title said "Random software that can't do BIM electrical at all" I wouldn't have said anything.
Thats helpful
How much is it per month ?

Me being me, im extremely stupid, but quick question. Waht makes the bottom the 3d model?
Thanks for your question. There is no particular significance to the order the three elements of the triangle appear. It is simply a good visual representation of the three points being discussed.
@@Design_Master_SoftwareOK, thank you.
Will electrobim work with custom build equipment?
If using your tool would I still be able to create my own families and equipment that might not be in what you have?
Yes. ElectroBIM works with whatever Revit families you are already using. If you need more families, create them like normal.
Didn't recognized you in a podcast I watch previously! You look so young there.New subs here.
Very nice work, David. 🎉 we always say engineers care mostly about the “I” in “BIM” Glad someone is out there looking out for sparkies
how to get this plugin?
Thank you for your interest in ElectroBIM. There is a link to our free trial in the video description.

Brilliant content, well done!
Extremely helpful. We upsize circuit conductors very conservatively, and this showed me how to change the default panel options. Also nice to know everything integrates with the Revit panel schedules.
Brake horse power is the power that will be dissipated at the brakes. Which is a weird way of saying it’s the fraction of the power that can be used for motive force. The actual engine will be capable of making more than the bhp figure, some will be lost frictional forces in the transmission, some will power the AC and other electrics, etc etc. BHP will always be lower, and its the most useful metric when looking at making an object move
Rated is maximum that engine can deliver, and then we have hp and bhp this is different as one is measured at the flywheel be higher then the one at the wheel as there are some losses at the clutch, transmission and diffs.
Rated is the theoretical peak that it is capable of delivering. Brake is what it can actually do for 15 minutes without overheating.
I was always told one was the HP at the flywheel and one was the HP at the wheels.

Good day, please can i get your email? I have some questions to ask regarding electrical design in general. Thank you and best regards!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
🔥🔥🔥 thanks for the video
The regulators need to be gotten out of the way of and kept out of the way of practicality. Especially if they don't understand the technology they're attempting to regulate.
At this point improments come at such a cost its hardly worth it . And depening on the lighter materials the thermal conductivity becomes an issue at high duty cycle .
Radial flux motors.
Doesnt matter for ev, people blow all the effiencies and gains by insisting on owning a mobile brick AKA a SUV
You mean manufacturers…
@JohnR31415 the manufacturers are fulfilling consumer demand, so my take is the consumer ultimately shapes manufacturing output
Especially when one considers how few people actually utilise the S or the U in SUV despite having them. It's bonkers to me that you'd pay for something that you only use ⅓ of
@@ajoshdoingthings541 100%
Definitely, hurts to see What’s the point of EVs if you’re going to drive a living room on wheels with worse visibility than any other vehicle? Mostly referring to trucks but some SUVs are just as bad
It's been a lot longer than that.
