When we stayed at Whitehorse, it was raining, so we visited Takhini hot springs. It was a great experience, specially on a rainy summer's day.

      We did see some ATV trail clearing. There was a tree down at a creek crossing and someone had recently re-routed the trail and we could tell there was grass and weeds freshly cut back. The rest of the ATV trail was as passable as back country ATV trails go. Not sure if that was related to the event of the 29th. We moved on after one night.

      It certainly was our coldest trip by outdoor temperature so far and there was a breeze coming off the lake, but we were surprisingly comfortable most of the time. The big issue was keeping the dog warm enough and making sure it did not go beyond freezing around the water pump. You would think I would wake up cold well before then, but no, I woke up feeling only cool on the face and then worried about the pump and started the heat. A temperature probe on it showed we hit zero a couple of times and when we got home there was a little ice in the fresh water container, which is lower than the pump. We're so glad you enjoyed out vlog.

    I feel its much easier to have a bed in 5 seater model, with a little less storage space you can store some stuff in foot area of second row and in campartments in the rear cargo area. Folded second row, sits flat with tye rear cargo area so you can put mattress on it.

      In our first trip or two we had a board on the seats folded down but needed the luggage carrier on the roof to hold our stuff. I am glad I took the seats out. But I understand how a five seater rather than seven would be different and maybe have enough storage space.

      This is The Village Biergarten in Saint Jacobs, Ontario. Google says it has one of the largest patios in Waterloo Region. They have no real inside restaurant. We like it because it is dog friendly. The draft is brewed down the street (Block 3 Brewery) and the food is really good. We celebrated there the same weekend as going to Port Burwell, but it is about 1.5 hours drive away from it.

      I inherited this when my father passed away. I have been very pleased with how comfortable it is to drive and how peppy it is. My wife and I are planning to upgrade to a larger interior so we can cook inside. This is one of the few serious drawbacks to living out of this size of vehicle. Sometimes it is really windy and maybe cold and raining and cooking outside is not pleasant. I worry that a larger vehicle will give way in a big part to the comfort of driving and manoeuvring that I have become used to.

    Hi there, I see it's an older video BUT just maybe you may recollect. I am having trouble removing the THIRD row seats. I removed the nuts in front of seats/floor but don't see how to release it from the rear?

    • @dgrahammartin
      @dgrahammartin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right. I had no recollection. I just went out and looked at it. The bolts that hold the rear of the back seats in are under the little compartment that holds the jack. You have to completely remove that compartment first. It is bolted to the bottom of the car by about three bolts. I seem to remember you have to unbolt the rear seat belts, or at least the middle one. If this does not help, let me know and I will try to get a photo for you. I never put the compartment back in. I just took the Styrofoam insert for the jack and put that in one side loose. That gave me a longer compartment on the other side.

    Hi I have a 2008 Kia Rondo I want to keep the seats in. What did you use on top of the folded seats to make it more comfortable when sleeping?

    • @dgrahammartin
      @dgrahammartin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First trip we just folded down the seats and put lots of padding on top (foam, comforter, blankets) - Not that great. Second trip I used this 4'x8' melamine board but without being cut in the middle - Great, but we had to have a trunk on the roof for out stuff. Third trip we took the seats out and did this conversion - great because we could leave the trunk off of the roof. The melamine board was stronger than regular particle board and I liked the hard finish better. We have now purchased fold-able guest mattresses from Costco and modified them for the shape of the back of the Rhondo and finally I have a truly comfortable bed.

  • @stevebannon1804
    @stevebannon1804 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Might be a lot to ask, but do you happen to have dimensions for this? I just purchased a 2009 Rondo for this exact purpose.

    • @dgrahammartin
      @dgrahammartin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so glad you found my video useful. I started with a 4'x8' foot 5/8ths" melamine-coated board. I felt it would be cheaper than real plywood and stronger than just particle board. I got one 2"x8" and cut it as shown. I took the measurements in this video th-cam.com/video/krEEUJzg-kk/w-d-xo.html as it was easier to say what I was measuring. I left out the heights as I would suggest measuring for them after you get your bed-board in place. You should assume some variation among cars anyway, at least between years.
