Awesome 👍👍
Nice video I've been thinking about getting a sit-on kayak having hired one on several occasions. I've also tried paddleboarding, which was fun too, so I am now in two minds .. the kayak (hard to transport, but always stay dry) or the paddleboard (easy to transport, but possibility of falling in much higher) .. then somebodty suggested 'inflatable kayak' .. will decide in 2022. Good luck with nour TH-cam channel Regards from Whitley Bay
Bitellie best machine ever made. Still got an old 650 wouldn't swap it for the world.
Are you wearing safety glasses?
Recommend getting a good PFD instead of a life jacket, which are ok but once inflated a pain get in the way of remounting your kayak, hard to swim effectively and will need rearming, PFD like a palm Karakora has a hydration pouch in the back I keep flares in or a drink, hand warmer pockets and zip up cargo pockets with clips inside for a radio ect and cut to be very comfortable seated and if fitted properly (very important) easy to swim ect
Agree. Have a belt type pfd now. More comfortable.
Get a sail kit, I have one for my Hobie Revolution 13 fantastic fun
I have a sail kit for my Hobie Mirage Sport. OK, but the 'no go' area is so wide tacking takes quite a while. Yo u can't use a sail kit on the Mirage i11S
I like that kayak, however prefer the green color instead, can you stand up easily?
Yellow better in case of emergency. Very easy to stand up. The platform is super stable.
Frank Tompson thank you, last question how it holds against windy conditions?
I'm looking at buying the new one that's coming out in March 2021. I was wondering do you get really wet on this
Hi Kori, I didn't know there's a new one coming out. I'll look out with interest! Getting wet obviously depends on the sea conditions, but in the normal scheme of things no, I've never got very wet. The kayak is very stable and rides the waves well.
So what do you think og i11s?
Great, I love it. Stable, transportable, easy to inflate, comfortable. What's not to like!?
Frank Tompson thanks! Im wondering if it’s good enough for fishing on Belfast coast.
Yes, perfect, but always consider the weather, tides and sea conditions. Given we are heading into autumn I would wait until spring 2021 to go fishing personally.
That's booty 😂
Looks like a interesting kayaking trip! I am going out kayaking soon and can’t wait! Feel free to check out our travel vlogs if your interested! Cheers!
Good afternoon, from Antena 3 Tv News from Spain, we are interested in use this images in our News Programme and Web. Could it be possible? Thank you in advance.
Hi Emilia, I'll get back to you shortly :)
Yes, please do Emilia :).
Looked like a great ride. Well done all 👍
A really useful video by Frank which will help our band sort out lots of things. We know that there are lots of tweaks needed but without a good recording they are tricky to identify. Thanks Frank for such a good piece of video work.
nice little radio but it would have to be louder for my taste in my area you got loud trucks
Hopefully this will be laid back to track in the next few years and returned to a useful rail link👍🏻 When Michael Goves schemes start to take effect!
Superb the S&D gathers momentum like a fully stoked 9F! Well done all of you Sir John Betjeman would be smiling now if we can bring back this wonderful line. Michael Give is FULLY BACKING the reopening of many lines closed by Beeching. I cannot WAIT to see track, a station and a 9F in full steam hauling a heritage commuter train! What a boost for Somerset and Radstock!
Thanks for sharing that video guys fantastic footage.myself and a group of friends are doing the way of the roses on 15th - 18th Sept 2017 for the forget me not children's hospice in Huddersfield. So was a great insight into the route and especially all the great tea rooms!! Thanks again :-)
Well done Neil and the Midford Group.
Not bad ! Minimalismus and fun !
What a pain is there still a diversion around caine locks at devizes as planning on cycling that route this weekend
yep, this has been a pain for the last 6 months. Thanks for immortalising it on youtube! I can't understand why they could not have opened the route up between times when safe to do so within that period, , which was something they had indicated they would do.
thanks
And now NETWORK RAIL plan to demolish the bridge as part of the electrification plans! What a a waste of money !
I had the bolts shear of the mount on mine riding down cobbles which caused my phone to fly off, so I wouldn't recommend it for mountain biking, probably fine for road riding though. Luckily my tough as old boots phone survived.
Thank you - can't wait for the opening day......
It was not possible to come to a suitable arrangement with local landowners in order to be able to link in to an electricity supply within a reasonable distance of the northern tunnel portal,
Could anyone explain why power isn't supplied to the tunnel lighting from either the north or south portals? Surely using an aperture that's already there is easier than drilling a 16 meter tunnel from the top down?
Thanks Frank. CCTV cameras installed on their poles this week too. Final preparations.. not long to wait now..
The "New s&d " are hell bent on reopening this railway throughout, I doubt you see this in anyway a threat, lol. I do though applaud the effforts of the sections of line that are being used for trains again and would be nice to see the 2 groups work together, Railway and cyclists walkers etc.
Thanks for the updates. I live and cycle in Berkshire and love all the updates that come from this project. keep them coming especially when it gets close to the grand opening. I'd like to be there when the ribbon's cut. I'm a keen cyclist, work on a steam railway and also know the history of this old railway line. So Can't wait to cycle throughout the open section of the line.
Excellent.
Fantastic, Frank.
looking good.
I'm sure that Frank will be able to provide more detail but I know that bats have been taken into account - for example the lighting is directional and set at a height of 2.7m to create a dark space at the crown. Co-incidentally we've taken part in a Bath Hunt on the Bristol Bath Railway Path before - the kids using bat detectors including in Staple Hill tunnel on that path. A great way to make people more aware. Perhaps we could organise one on the Two Tunnels route when it's open?
Thank you for posting this, Frank. It's so exciting to see such tangible developments.
Brilliant FranK. Thanks.
Thanks for that Frank, you're getting close to the end of this wonderful scheme, I am starting to make my plans to come cycling up in the Spring. Look forward to the next film, looking forward to the path, keep watching old steam-train footage of the S&D, hard to believe we'll be cycling where those huge steam iron giants thundered! Thanks again.
I never knew this was there ! I believe Chris Hutt used to service the fountains at the Bristol end and his son was going to take over the job.
Hi 64dsenna, Got mine from ebay. You're not allowed to post a link here, but if you do an ebay search on 'Quick Release Bicycle Handlebar Mount Waterproof Case for Samsung Galaxy S Plus' you'll easily find it. Cheers, Frank Cheers, Frank
great idea ,can you tell me where you got the phone wallet thanks
I've been watching reports posted on YT for a while regarding the opening of this tunnel to cycling. I'm a cycle club member of thirty five years and have ridden up and down the route from Bristol to Reading via the Kennet and Avon Canal on and off for a least fifteen years. I look forward to the opening of this route through the tunnel and thank you and all the folks who have posted vids that are keeping me up to date with the progress. P.W (Clarencourt CC)
Hi GEH Dunedin, Always happy to pass on any information we have that may be of use to our friends in other places with similar ambitions. Cheers, Franl
Ooh, we may have to borrow this research you've done! It'd be ideal for a couple of tunnels we're looking to get opened.
Yes, the side kick arms do get in the was slightly, but it's still fine with a slight adjustment to style. The system is for rapid furling of the sail if a squal suddenly gets up. Based on a design on TH-cam by halibu77 which for some reason he now seems to have removed.
Great, thanks for that Frank! Really looking forward to cycling it. I remember walking through some years ago, it was lit then with sort-of fluorescent glowball things, very dark and very eerie. The lighting here looked really good. Pity they couldn't hide some solar-panels on the hillside somewhere to power them, really! Keep keeping us informed! Thanks.
Thanks Str8FiShiN408, It's always interesting to know how other people got on with this. I eventually drilled a couple of holes in the bottom of the peg holes and put bolts through. Over-engineered? Maybe, but it worked! Hope your solution continues to produce good results. Good sailing. Frank
Hey Frank, I hope you were able to fix this issue but just in case you haven't, try wrapping the pegs with duct tape. I had the same the issue but after making this easy mod, those pegs never come out. It also help to lube the pegs with WD-40. Hope this helps
Excellent idea, having spent a small fortune fixing the problems with the bridge, it must make sense to encourage as many people as possible to use it. Enabling access seems the most logical way to do this whilst at the same time turning that awful vandalised stairway and featurless wall into something much more aesthetically pleasing.
