Streamlight HLX : The BEST weapon light for most home defenders
Full Review + Where to Buy: crackshot.tv/streamlight-hlx-the-best-weapon-light-for-most-home-defenders/
The Streamlight ProTac HLX pro rail mounted flashlight is an awesome rifle white light. It is perfect for home defense. It is also what I am running on my daily driver AR-15.
The HLX comes with a Pic Rail adapter normally. However, numerous MLok adapters are available for a very reasonable price. The HLX is designed to be scout mount compatible. I am running a BCM scout mount with the HLX and it is ultra secure.
The HLX Pro rail model comes with a tape switch instead of the typical push button on the base.
A bundle including an mlok rail from streamlight on amazon currently runs about $155 at the time of editing. That is a great price.
You might be tempted to instead run, say, a streamlight TLR-1 HL in place of this when you see that both are rated at 1,000 lumens. However, keep in mind the TLR-1 HL is rated at only 20,000 candella. The HLX is rated conversely at 50,000 candela, so its got quite a bit more throw, enough that it is rated to reach 447 meters.
The protac is super rugged and durable, it has stood up to quite a bit of punishment on my AR-15. I've had it mounted for about 2 years now and this thing is still going really strong.
The flashlight has both high powered and low powered modes. In the low powered 60 lumen, 3100 candela mode, the flashlight will run for 21 hours. In the high powered mode, it can run for 1.25 hours. The flashlight of course also has a strobe feature.
Dimensionally, this is probably too big to run on AR Pistol builds. On a 14.5" pin and weld build, this feels great. It would also be fine on a 13.9, but at 5.5 inches long you might want something more compact for anything shorter.
At about half the price of the surefire scout, and less than half the price of the cloud defensive rein, the Streamlight HLX bridges affordability with quality. Being the mid tier option, I think this is the ideal most likely for most gun owners.
Overall I have no complaints about this light, I really can't come up with any negatives. Mine is nothing short of excellent. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

If you follow the channel you know I've been on the hunt for a pistol red dot optic that works well for an astigmatism. Well, thanks to Holosun, I think I've finally found it. The holosun 407CO X2 model is extremely unique. I wanted to set that aside and really do this review just off of my initi...

    I think the term "budget" is way overused. It elicits the thought of only buying something because it's what you can afford, not because it's a superior product that deserves your money over more expensive options. I have expensive lights and inexpensive lights. I find that the Streamlight TLR-1 HL is really the king, as it is durable, tested, excels at what it promises, has a long production history, isn't up-charging for their name sake. We use Surefire in the Marine Corps, solid but not everything they make is king in their product line up. Surefire makes top end rifle WMLs but their pistol WML are not better than Streamlight. There may be an option or two outside of Streamlight's product offerings. For strictly inside the home, as far as Olight is concerned further down in the comments. The Olight PL-3 is an excellent WML on a home defense pistol. No need to replace batteries, it's solid, good price point for a light that stays home. I actually prefer it, just for my home defense pistols. But never for outside the house and definitely not their rife WMLs; horrible design and poor quality.

    Unless Glock can make this rifle stand out from other AR-15 variants from other companies, I don't really see the point. If they happen to have some interesting ideas under that hood or have some awesome additions that some companies have been making (if it's a mid-length, adjustable direct impingement gas system with its [HIGHLY SPECULATIVE] 11.5 inch barrel, some secret folding stock with carrier support extensions for the BCG, a forged inconel gas tube that's coated in Austrian space magic, and etc), then maybe it will have a chance within a very saturated AR-15 market.

    What do you think about using gas blowback airsoft as a training tool?

    • @crackshot-tv
      @crackshot-tv 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think its a good idea for multiple reasons. Some will say don't do it because it won't teach recoil control, but that's like saying don't train on reloads because it won't improve your accuracy (that's not the point of the exercise). A lot of those guys are talk and no walk. A quality replica that has a similar trigger to the real thing will teach good trigger control, it will teach realigning sight picture with a moving slide, it'll help build muscle memory for other things (moving around barricades, shooting from awkward positions, draw from holster, safe muzzle control while moving, etc). It helps you train just about everything but recoil control and accurate shooting (which you learn on the live range) so IMO it is extremely beneficial in addition to live fire training. You can learn it all with live fire, but it'll take you longer and be a heck of a lot more expensive. Plus the advantage with airsoft is if you have a buddy, you can do force on force. You can't do that with any other platform except maybe the new 43 caliber paintball glock replicas that Umarex has put out.
