Scottish Musical Road Trips
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 31 ม.ค. 2016
A collection of relaxing road trips with musical background which were filmed across Scotland in Autumn 1999.
Scottish Musical Road Trips - Sampler
In 1999 we drove around Scotland with a video camera mounted on the car roof. We then edited the videos into 9 road trips, each with a musical background. These road trips are available on this channel and this is a collection of sample scenes from the road trips.

Love this thankyou
Time to get back out on the road filming 😜
love the videos. do you have anymore of glasgow? would love to see them
Sorry - that's all she wrote.
Have you watched the original Glasgow video at th-cam.com/video/JtKMyNMS8Kc/w-d-xo.html
Never did i think I'd see the day. I didn't expect to ever see another upload on this channel again. All great videos. Fiona and David, if you see this, these videos are a joy to watch. I hope you are both doing well.
Thanks very much. Our winter project is to make a video with all the cities, towns and villages we captured in alphabetical order.
@starrydave8015 That sounds like great watch
Absolutely love this channel. Videos capture Scotland beautifully 25 years ago. So much has changed yet so much has remained the same.
What has changed?
Thanks - the videos are a nice snapshot in time.
Another Little Chef spotter's delight. Both Tyndrum and Spean Bridge Little Chefs beautifully captured. Although i remember it, Ive never been able to find a picture of the former so this is fantastic
Glad you enjoyed the video. I reckon these videos will be very useful for future historians.
You've no idea how happy 3:49:00 to 3:49.40 makes me. The Forres Little Chef was one if my childhood staples so rounding that corner and seeing it in all its glory once more was magical. I felt like I was 10 again. I love your videos and am so glad i discovered them
The world was a much nicer place back then (I wasn't even born yet)
16:32 Bluevale and Whitevale towers ❤
much less cars in the road back then
A lot has changed. Most of it for the worse. Driving has become become worse and worse as they add traffic lights to every bloody junction now creating cpnstant jams. Somethings never change though, like the traffic at dalreoch and west Dunbartonshire haveing the most useless council in the uk Lol.
So amazing seeing Glasgow again back in the day .. thank you so much for sharing it with us ❤
Was this filmed in the seventies ?
The date for each video is in the description. This one was filmed on 28th September 1999 - nearly 24 years aga.
@@starrydave8015 cheers
Was this videotaped from Bus or car
The camera was mounted on the roof of a 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.5L V6.
Love these videos. Although my family didn't move to Scotland until a couple years after when this was filmed, it's still a perfect capture of the world during my childhood. Would love to know if you still have the original unedited versions of these roadtrips, with their original aspect ratio and audio. I can understand adding the music overtop as there wouldn't be that much to hear, but I think the ambient atmosphere, especially in areas like Glasgow, would really make these videos come to life!
Glad you enjoy them. The audio was unusable because I had a couple of fans blowing across the camera lens to keep insects away. The fans drowned out any ambient noise. The originals were shot in Digital8 4:3 and I trimmed the sky and road at top and bottom to give 16:9.
@@starrydave8015 Have you ever considered doing a followup series, retracing the same routes 25 years later? It'd make for a fascinating comparison.
@@aLrgDck You could probably do this yourself using Google street view. Be interesting to see the changes over 24 years.
Tornacoille fuel pumps Christ that’s fairly taking me back
3:35:23 Lundin Links Hotel has sadly now been demolished after a fire, having being closed since 2014. An absolute disgrace that this was allowed to happen. There should have been adequate security on site to stop such things.
Well done on having the foresight to make these videos 👏🏻
Thank you for having the insight to film this stuff 20-30 years ago. Amazing nostalgic footage. Please keep it going. Outstanding work ❤

Loved it. Great seeing all the cars, not an SUV in sight.
Ahh the good old days, much simpler times. Seen fuel prices at aitken heads in bishop ill 77 p per litre. I was brought up in fochabers, now residing in buckie.
6:07:44 Port Gordon then Buckie, Finechty, Portknockie and Cullen. Great time capsule!!
Lived in Elgin from 1953 to 1968 (and on and off until 1971) - I enjoyed the trip though the town. Been away for a long time "I micht come an see ye".
nice to see my hometown of Buckie in the video
Just as I remember it....
I only found these videos the other day but I find it very interesting to see. As I was born in 2003
Moments frozen in time.
4:28:02 The red van is my late boss on his vay to pick me up. I was in my 3rd year electrical apprenticeship. It was nearly 5pm so he probably should've been to get me half an hour ago. God bless you Jeff ☇... I miss the days. K.
Thanks for the comment. The video was shot in 1999 so I reckon about 30% of the folk in it will have passed away. Like Bruce Springsteen says "One minute you're here, next minute you're gone". Maybe future facial recognition software will be able to identify the people we caught on film.
Fantastic video!!
23 years ago today!I love this video.I watch it often.Makes me feel very nostalgic seeing Glasgows east end around this time.I wish I could travel back to then but this is the next best thing. Thanks for filming and uploading this wee film.
Hi how do we get in touch with you to discuss licensing this footage for a documentary? It's lovely!
Thanks for your interest - I have sent you an email.
Very cool to see. I grew up in Aberuthven and went to school in Auchterarder.
13:54 Duke street Parkhead :)
40:26 Stewart Lee's really let himself go.
This was great, thanks for uploading. The Forth Road Bridge toll booths came flooding right back! What a great route, covers all the best bits
where is the toll in this video
Great vid thank you.
48:02 - Find a better and more legal place to overtake in your shitty Vauxhall Combo! The road is quiet after all!
Have you got any more videos of prestonpans?
Sorry - that's al the footage I have.
Can anyone tell me which year was this video shot?...thank u in advance...btw i look like a frog 🐸 jus incase anyone was interested 🤪
1999
This is a old video I work for Arnold Clark it doesn’t look like that now
Really interesting to see my home city a year before I was born, thanks for sharing!
Amazing video! I would have been 3 years old here!
I was in my prime haha at 20 down the beach in my Nova
Nice wee video. Pity it took from Anniesland to Clydebank before the driver stopped and wiped the rain off the camera lens ! “Take Two” !
Thanks for this upload. Certainly a nostalgic trip. Very enjoyable 😉
Love it.
This is wonderful - especially like feeling I am the driver. I drove from St Andrews to Tayport, Dundee, and up to Aberdeen in 2019, part of my nostalgia tour. I was born in Tayport.
Miserable day today, Saturday 20th Feb 2021. No need for a flask, or a full tank of fuel, just an occasional coffee, and lunch in between. A child in a pram being pushed across the bridge in Dumbarton will be about 23 today. Does he know he is on video. Shame. Great days outing.
