Hey everyone! I am a fifth generation farmer and rancher that juggles a full time job, helping on the family farm on the weekends and running my small business. I decided I'd try to videotape what I do around the farm and with my business for my enjoyment and yours! Enjoy!
Throwback to Soybean Harvest 2021!
Hey folks! Welcome to Woodbury Farms! In today's video we take a time machine back to soybean harvest in 2021! Never before seen nearly lost footage! Hope you enjoy!
We are a diversified agricultural operation raising mainly cattle, corn, soybeans and grass hay in East Central Kansas. Part of our cattle operation is a registered Angus and Hereford operation and we have a production sale each March. Evan, the fifth generation, is the main person behind the camera and channel, but you’ll regularly see his dad, Howard, and uncle, John, who run the operation daily. We hope you enjoy our videos and catch a glimpse into our life and what it really takes to run a farm and help feed the world!

มุมมอง 3284 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hey folks! Welcome to Woodbury Farms! Found some clips from planting in 2022 I thought I'd share. I'm pretty sure the first one is planting some of the forage sorghum we harvested for silage that year and the last clip is planting soybeans. We usually use our John Deere 4450 on the planter, but it was broke down at the time so we had to use this newer Case 140 Maxxum tractor. I didn't end up ta...

Y’all in cannon county
@@richarddouglas8374 Nope, no Cannon Co in KS!
Great job 👍
What part of Kansas? I grew up in Burns,a tiny town 45 minutes NE of Wichita! Live in Pennsylvania now…
@@verlinswarey507 East Central! Osage Co.
Take 10 mins with a leaf blower to clean your shop and equipment.
I am sure there is some dirt contamination and some wastage with the silage. Is it not cost effective to line the pit or walls with plastic?
@rajbeekie7124 Very costly and time consuming. Some pits have concrete walls. We may have one some day!
....lol
Great to see the silage harvest in action! Love the makeshift pit and how you’re managing the whole process. Can’t wait to see how the cows will enjoy this!
@@FarmGearInnovators Thank you!
Could these guys have passed through Cozad Nebraska on Monday? I think I saw them!
@@MarshallMDNE Very well could have. I'm sure they go all over.
Great Video !!! Love all the work you do for video, drone & ground view at same time...back when I farmed I was dozer driver so like watching dozer as well as Big choppers have now !!!
Thank you!
cattle do you have
how many beef do you got
I drove a FARM silage truck on the farm for harvest. At the end, the landlord/farmer complimented me on my driving skills. Said he preferred to hire women, because they didn't JACK the trucks around and damage them.
So much for the old Harvestor blue erection. 😢 broke the fuck out of many farmers. Bunkers all the way.
Very cool looking process. Thanks for sharing
I wonder why they dont just plow the silage under as a compost. Seems like a lot of nutrients could be added back to the soil. Maybe too much volume, or not enough time for the silage to break down before the spring sowing?
@@ninagall7500 I believe "Silage" is animal feed.
@@ninagall7500 They use the Silage to Feed Farm Animals, usually Dairy Cattle.
how many beef cattle do you have
We run about 400 head of cow/calf pairs. About half of those are registered.

I enjoy watching corn chopping videos . I farmed for many years I knew a Woodbury family farm close to me but they had to relocate because of the Melvin lake but had to relocate I used to know the area because I went to school with a relative of the Woodbury's . I just noticed your channel and I just subscribed
Same family. We moved to north of Quenemo in 1968. Still have some land the government didn't take for the reservoir down at Olivet
@@HowardWoodbury Ok I didn't know . I used go by the farm the lake took getting to the farm that the lake took also just across the bridge north of your farm and they relocated to my area and I worked for that farm for over 40 years . I can tell you the farmer if you want . Thanks for the info . You have a great channel .
@@kennethcarlton2860 yes I would be interested in knowing who you worked for. I am 58 so I was 3 when we moved out but I know lots of names and stories from my Dad and Granddad so there wouldn't be many people from down there I haven't met or heard of
@@HowardWoodbury I was working for the Lohmeyer family who lived north of the home place at the bottom of the steep hill . The Croucher family were some of your relatives I think . I went to school with Michael Croucher and he had hogs near the end of the driveway . We graduated from highschool in 1968 . I hope that helps you . I was in farming for over 45 years , after highschool and the summers before that I worked for my uncle south of Lebo . You're 7 years older than my daughter . lol she lives near Kansas City Missouri
@kennethcarlton2860 yes I know of the Lohmeyer family. They moved south of Lebo I think. I knew Walt and Eunice Mochamer who were Sam Crouchers parents in law. I know Sam's daughter Rena and her husband Joe LaRue. Sam must be Michael's son also?
I'm sure the cows like dirt mixed in their feed
You mean the animals that evolved grazing OFF THE EARTH? Yeah I bet they are REALLY upset!
Come on use your brain for a minute
Красота!!!

To keep them "safe" until you're ready to kill them. Get real.
Do you ever wonder what would happen to cows and pigs? And all the other animals that people didn't eat them. Would they go extinct just for ignoring?
It would be awfully tough to near impossible for them to survive in the winter without care, so I would say it's a possibility!
Now that is a baby

Thanks, the sale went well! Got busy with sale prep and didn't get this out beforehand. The bulls certainly like to get out and romp around.

I didn’t know you could brand with cold! Thats so cool and looks like a lot less screaming cow than hot branding
It's cleaner, less painful, and looks better
They sometimes jump a little, just like if you froze a wart or skin tag off of yourself.
Its 2024 and you people still cant figure out a better way to do this? Shame
This is the better way bro.
What do you mean? This is a far superior way to brand cattle over hot branding. Cattle need to be identifiable so we can track them and their health.
What does 2024 have anything to do abt it 😂
This is it, the better way of doing it. It's 2024 bro, read the description.
What manners? Standing in the food 🥴
Cattle certainly have no manners!
