I wrote a review for this book on my channel. I loved this book so much and I didn't think I would since I'm normally not into science fiction. By the end of the book, I was weeping and it blew me away. They're making a movie out of this book for 2025 with Ryan Gosling playing the MC and I'm quite excited! :)
I will make sure to check out your review. Your comment about the ending makes me want to read it even faster. I had no idea about the movie, thank you for sharing, that is exciting to hear. I think that this series will make a great movie.
@@Silverfoxbooks Oh, I thought you had already finished Project Hail Mary! I'm sorry. I hope I didn't ruin anything for you!
I absolutely loved this trilogy! :) I didn't think I would, as it dealt with more of an Asia mafia theme, but gosh, it truly hooked me! I loved the subtle magic system and how Fonda Lee wove it into the narrative! I'm happy to become one of your newest subscribers! :)
I have to agree with you, I enjoyed the magic system as well. I still have to finish the series but so far I am enjoying it. Thank you so much for subscribing, I truly do appreciate it very much.
@@Silverfoxbooks Oh, I believe you'll enjoy the series quite a bit. And you're quite welcome! :) We new booktubers have to look out for one another! Have a great weekend. :)
Hi i found mine at a cute little book store bye a river.
I absolutely love to hear that. I think it adds to the experience of any book if you can remember where you found it. It feels like a treasure, especially if you enjoy the book. Thank you so much for sharing. Hopefully you find a lot more treasure.
Started Red Rising yesterday!
This is a great list! I have wanted to read more sci-fi so this was very helpful!
Thank you so much. Hopefully you enjoy them as much as I did.
Great list! I'm trying to read Oathbringer and Rhythm of War before December!
That's great to hear. I am sure that you will do it. Hopefully you do a book review on it, i would love to hear your thoughts on the books.
Can't wait for Stormlight 5!!
I agree. I'm just not sure how to make time to read the entire thing. Maybe i'll ask the boss very politely for a vacation. Lol along with everyone else at work.
Pretty cool
Thank you, I very much appreciate the support.
I've always loved this story, its been one of my favorite stephen king stories for ages. I love his shorter novellas.
Cormac McCarthy, what a story teller he was, what unique and beautiful prose he wrote. 🤗 If 'The Road' was your first book of his to read, I hope that you will give some thought to reading more. He only wrote 12 novels, and they are all worthy of the time, in my opinion. Great Review, looking forward to more.👍
Hi Boxer309, Yes this was the first book by Cormac McCarthy that I have read. I didn't mention it in my video but I enjoyed how I questioned myself while I was reading this book and I wondered how I would react to these situations. I was wondering if I would have just stayed in that bunker for a while or would I give my can of food to someone on the road. Those are just two examples I can think of right now but there is so much more in this book. I hope that people read it. I was not aware that he wrote only 12 novels, I'll check out my book store and see if they have more books by him. Thank you for your comment, it is very much appreciated.😊
The Long Walk is my favorite book. I've read it 8 times and listened to it 18 times. 16 times on Audible and 2 times by different TH-camrs reading it. I once read the book while listening to the audiobook. I'm the moderator on the subreddit. I have a website dedicated to it. I also write TLW fan fiction. I'm currently rewriting TLW from McVries point of view. I post releases to the subreddit. Did you know that it was King's first novel? He wrote it at the University of Maine while he was a freshman back in 1967 but it didn't get published until 1979. He wrote a novel when he was 13 called The Aftermath but it was never published. I try to watch every video on TH-cam about The Long Walk. I document for my website all of the mistakes people make when describing the book. I only understood how the rules work after 10 listens while taking notes so it's literally impossible to describe the book in any details after a first read without making mistakes. I counted you made 11 mistakes but I won't list them here. One mistake you made that is common is that walkers get their ticket on the 3rd warning. Another mistake is thinking they get a warning when their speed falls below 4 mph. What is impossible to understand on a first read is that warnings are tied to their 2-minute timer. 99% of people explaining the novel also fail that they need to stay on the road. One can assume from this is that each walker can go any direction they want as long as they their speed doesn't fall too low. Another common mistake people make that you made is saying the winner gets whatever they want. You must have forgotten that they also get a large sum of money. You said the boys get the rules in the mail. I've never heard anyone say that before and I'm pretty sure that's not mentioned in the book, but you would assume it is true. You also said that boys cannot receive anything beyond what they have with them at the start. You fail to mention they get a foodbelt at 9 am each morning and a new water canteen whenever they want. If a boy ahead discards some clothing, they can probably pick it up and wear it. The book doesn't say that boys can't give each other things. They give Olson food when he dropped his foodbelt. They poured their water over Scramm too cool him down. You said the winner is the last one standing. That's not technically correct. It's the last boy alive. Certainly if there were two boys left, one boy can sit down for a few seconds and the standing boy doesn't win. Anyway, I enjoyed your review, but you can see how it would take many reads while taking notes to fully understand how the warnings and tickets work. When the boys speed in the correct direction falls below 4 mph, their 2-minute timers count down. When their timers hit 90, 60, 30, they get warned. If their timers reach 0, they get their ticket. If they walk an hour without getting a warning, they lose a warning which means their timers are reset to 60, 90 or 120.
Hi Pat Thank you very much for taking the time to write your comment. You have inspired me to read the book again.
