#3 Fake NE5532P opamps?
มุมมอง 3.9K5 ปีที่แล้ว
I ordered a preamp from a big European website and was surprised to find 2 fake NE5532P opamps. In this video I test these opamps and compare them to some genuine ones.
#2 Electronic Load, PCB & Schematic & Load Regulation

Genuine 5532 has reversed diodes in parallel at its Inverting and non Inverting input, simply do diode test with a multimeter

This especially dangerous in medical, or instrumentation. If it's important to you, make sure to buy from a known supplier not a to random eBay supplier. T.I. Fairchild, ON Semi, SHS National Semi all good suppliers

My father used to work at a Texas Instrument fab in the Philippines. He showed me what to look for to quickly identify genuine 5532 and 4558. Just look for the the two copper tags on the side ends of the chip imgur.com/msAnsl0 China counterfeits only have one in the center or none at all

    5532, very fake fake

  • @AstroSam66

Actually it is quite easy to determine if you have an original 5532 since it has two antiparallel connected diodes between the inputs. So it's easy to measure if they are actually there. Of course this only applies to the 5532 (and some other types maybe). So if you have a e.g. fake TL072 or something else, you are effdup 🙂

Excellent analysis. Thank you, I have several tray full of op amps I can test like this. Could you also run similar test on measuring offset voltage?

If it's bought from China, almost guaranteed to be a fake IC.

I too have received many fake opamps through Aliexpress. Out of annoyance I was forced to design a few test PCB's with many jumper settings for multiple test configurations. And later for multiple opamp footprints. Occasionally received money back, but sometimes a dumbass on the other end who simply claimed: "show with photo that you received something DIFFERENT." No, the imprint is OK, but the contents of the chip are NOT! It does NOT conform to the datasheet. I made a story of it on a handmade website with a lot of test info. On the first line an option to activate Google translate. A link won't work, so Google "opamp test PE1ABR"

Hello everybody , Im Looking for help. Can somebody help me to identify one op amp whith one schematic? Pleaase please let me know, thank you very much.

Thank you for exposing all this. You have confirmed my suspicions, and this is what happens when we have universal pin configurations for the Ics. The pinouts are are the same for many opamps (operation amplifiers) - easy money for articulate people to make by simply just replacing the printed code and part numbers. How do some people sleep at night? (rethorical question so do not answer)

Had the same problem with my TL072 from china, totally rebadged LM358s. I only did the rail test tho, not the slewrate, going to do that for sure now too.

just bought this one (link below) hoping its real but after watching your video i am pretty sure its lm358p as its so cheap...can i swap the fake one with real 5532 please have a look at board. www.banggood.in/NE5532-DC-12-35V-Amplifier-Board-OP-AMP-HIFI-Preamplifier-Signal-Bluetooth-Amplifier-Board-p-1385878.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN

Thank you for publishing this video. Unfortunately fake parts especially out of China are becoming all too commonplace. I have had negative comments directed towards me on other forums for heavily negative critiquing parts sourced from China, especially through sources like eBay. Now I would say if someone is just knocking up a non-critical device and they don't care if it performs according to specifications or it fails prematurely without significant consequence I guess it doesn't matter, however as an audio enthusiast and a person who works in the electronics industry this growing trend in fake components is a cause for concern. The fakers are also getting better at marking the components to look a lot like the genuine article. In the past it was easy to spot a potential fake usually because of the quality (or more specifically the lack thereof) in the part numbering on the chip package. Often the markings would be blurred, offset, wrong font, an impossible date code or the logo just didn't look quite right. So when others ask why I don't order parts from Chinese eBay sources or even warehouses such as Alibaba and similar I simply tell them the truth of my experiences. The parts take forever (usually 1 - 2 months to arrive here in Australia), trying to return and get your money back for defective, substandard or fake parts is near on impossible. So in short it's worth your while to verify the lineage of components before ordering or using them.

Alan Rutlidge You are not alone, trust me. I’ve banned purchasing anything from China, period.

FYI: Chip counterfeiters in the US: venturebeat.com/2011/09/25/feds-close-the-books-on-a-huge-chip-counterfeiting-scheme/ Human sc..m motivated by greed are everywhere where money is king, not only in China.

Your LM3886 composite design on diyaudio is super interesting. Really looking forward to you uploading your progress on it. As a hobby musician/engineer, I'd like to build one one day.
