    Makes me want one too now. Looks good and healthy! I just repotted my foxtail hoping it will be happier. The roots was choking it. I didn’t know the ghosties would stand up like that, I’m going to have to place mine in the ground to see! Thanks

    Also, it appears you were putting it in too small of a pot. Plus you pushed your roots into the soil instead of putting the soil over the roots. Hello?

      Hi Mike, thanks for the comment. I know that what I did seems a bit odd, but here I am a year later and everything worked perfectly. The plant is thriving, and the weeds are gone. Agave has a different root structure than many plants, and it takes well to this type of treatment .

    Thanks for the video! Awesome collection I just wanted to let you know how you can take care of the weeds under the agave. Usually all i do is stick a shovel under the plant lift it a little bit and pull the loose weeds out. Yes you do damage a few thin roots but they don’t care! Blue glows at relentless! Also you can get a lot of large ruffled echeveria pups by planting the flower stocks in soil after it has finished flowering! Good luck and thanks for sharing. Nice to see some videos from California and not Florida for a change 😂

    Great garden! Have you ever watched Laura Eubanks “Design for serenity”? She does cacti and succulents. Beautiful landscaping. She often will dig up plants that have weeds growing around them remove the weeds and just set the cacti or agave back and the roots just find their way back into the ground. I agree with Robyn Brose don’t get rid of the gollum jade it looks like a Bonsai. You could even trim it up a little more and it would look great. If it’s root bound take a hammer to the pot and remove it and either put it in the ground or a larger pot. We are green with envy 😂

    • @sactrippin6045
      @sactrippin6045 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laura Eubanks videos are exactly what inspired me to work with succulents. Laura taught me that succulents do not have to be singular plants in a pot on your porch...succulents can be a landscape. My favorite Laura Eubanks plan is to create a 'tapestry' of different plant colors, textures, and sizes. Laura is awesome!

    I had one of those large agave Americano once but it was like a sword at the tips and edges of leaves. If you plant next to your windows....good luck trying to wash those windows or do any painting or anything next to your house. They also send runners underground and pups start popping up everywhere so you spend all your time removing unwanted pups. I only do agave attenuata now. Much friendlier to deal with.

    • @sactrippin6045
      @sactrippin6045 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. They have downsides! But...I have seen some of these that are about 6-8 feet tall. They are amazing, they look like a giant sculpture in front of the house. Wild leggy spiders that are just incredible. I want to see what happens. I had pampas grass once. It looked great...but that was so much work it ended up being a big mistake.

    I live in Auburn. How are your succulents faring this week in this scorching heat wave!? I’m pretty sure some of mine have burned to death, even with providing the best shade I can. Your Blue Glow is gorgeous. Do you follow Laura Eubanks of Design for Serenity on TH-cam? Best succulent teacher and inspiration I’ve come across. Stay cool!

      Cherry! First, I love Laura Eubanks...! Second, a lot of my succulents in full sun have been FRIED in the past few days. It's sad. I think I've lost 10 or so plants. But! Fall is coming, and succulent season along with it! I just consider this heat wave to be similar to a cold snap...it happens every year, and I lose a few things. But then I plant again with optimism and enjoy the cooler weather. Good luck to you!

    Hello Carl. I live in Woodland and I too have gotten into expanding my gifted succulents, and have gradually transformed several areas of my garden into succulent beds. Have you ever watched Design for Serenity with Laura Eubanks on TH-cam? th-cam.com/users/LauraEubanks She is a self taught succulent landscaper in Vista, near San Diego. She is a wonderful resource and I love her channel. I just found this video, and am so happy to find a local to get advice for our tough summer weather. Your plants are doing really really well! Your yard looks great. I hope to see more from you as your succulent adventure continues.
