The arcade version is one of my favorites by far!! I will get that arcade cabinet one day. I remember playing the NES version in 1989/90 and it wasn't close. I never beat it either, so I can't watch this unfortunately.

I'm not entirely sure there is an ending on the NES version. I think it's just arcade style

I really enjoyed watching this part of your Suikoden 3 playthrough. You did a great job exploring the different areas. Your commentary was funny and informative. I can't wait to see the next part of your adventure. Keep up the good work! 👍

another comment, equipment basics... ------------- all equipment of course has "equipment types 0" (body-armors / shields / helmets / boots / gloves / rings / amulets / belts / swords / axes / pole-arms / spears / throwing / maces-blunts / daggers / etc-etc-etc) also, all equipment has both: equipment types 1 and equipment types 2, generated for it for an example, a (equipment type 1) rare (yellow/gold) battlehammer (the strongest 1-handed of the exceptional maces/blunts, equipment type 2) is dropped by a monster and for only body armors and shields, they also, in addition to equipment types 1 and 2, also has equipment types 3, as well for example, the best exceptional light body armor is the 'mage plate', the best exceptional medium body armor is the 'ornate plate' (which is unfortunately, completely better than the best heavy armor, more mistakes in d2, just like in d1, sighs), and the best exceptional heavy body armor is the 'chaos plate' -------------- equipment types 1: normal/base (white) equipment: no affixes (no prefixes and no suffixes), but staffs/wands/scepters (and etc like LoD equipment) can have +skills on them socketed (grey) equipment: same as normal/base (white) equipment, but has the sockets on them (1-6 possible sockets) magical (blue) equipment: it either has: (1 prefix) or (1 suffix) or (1 prefix and 1 suffix) rare (gold/yellow) equipment: it can have up to 6 affixes (3 prefixes and 3 suffixes) unique (bronze) equipment: it has preset affixes (and it's a specific equipment type/piece, whereas, rares can be any equipment type/piece) set (green) equipment: it also has preset affixes (and it's a specific equipment type/piece), but also gets bonus affixes with each piece of its equipment set equipped too crafted (orange) equipment (I think, as I've never got/played the xpac/dlc/LoD and don't know it that well): LoD only ------------ equipment types 2: normal equipment: weakest versions of equipment, for example, the strongest 2-handed axe is the giant axe exceptional equipment: stronger versions of the normal equipment, for example, the strongest 2-handed axe is the ancient axe (same sprite/graphic as the giant axe, but with better stats but also higher requirements too, a better/stronger version) elite equipment (LoD only): strongest versions of the normal equipment, for example, the strongest 2-handed axe is the glorious axe (same sprite/graphic as the giant axe and ancient axe, but with the highest stats but also highest requirements too, the strongest/best version for a 2-handed axe) ----------- equipment types 3: ONLY applies to body armors and shields light equipment: no enhanced drain on stamina/fatigue while running, and no movement-speed penalty medium equipment: 50% stamina/fatigue drain while running, and a 5% movement-speed penalty heavy equipment: 100% stamina/fatigue drain while running, and a 10% movement-speed penalty -------- affixes: depends on the equipment types, what's available and what levels-strength-versions of them too (see the example given for the '+strength' suffix further below) ---------- prefixes: +attack_rating% (accuracy, to hit chance) +phys_dmg% +phys_dmg%_and_attack_rating% (the "king's" prefix, especially close to the perfect/max values, on the strongest types/versions of exceptional rare weapons is godly gear for classic/non-LoD, I don't know what's best in LoD that well, possibly the new-strong 'sets/greens' and/or uniques/bronzes and/or rare/yellow/gold elites, while non-LoD/classic doesn't have very strong 'sets/greens', nor, uniques/bronzes, and there's no elites either, sighs) +fire_dmg +ice_dmg +lit_dmg +psn_dmg +phsy_defense% +mana +fire_resist% +ice_resist% +lit_resist% +psn_resist% +resist_all% +skills etc etc etc ---------- suffixes: +strength ("strength" = +1-2 str, "might" = +3-5 str, "ox" = +6-9 str, "giant" = +10-15 str, "titan" = +16-20 str, LoD: "atlas" = +21-30 str) +dexterity +energy +life/hp +light_radius% +min_dmg +max_dmg +fire_dmg +ice_dmg +lit_dmg +psn_dmg psn_length_reduction% +life_leech% +mana_leech% +life_regeneration +weapon_speed% +chance_to_block% +hit_recovery% +movement_speed% +casting_speed% etc etc etc

PS maces/blunts get a x1.1 strength-dmg bonus (and also +50% undead_dmg) all other melee types are just x1.0 strength-dmg bonus I think the projectile weapons are: x0.5 strength-dmg and x0.5 dexterity-dmg --------------- I don't think diablo 2 has kept these bonuses/penalties from diablo 1: swords: x1.5 dmg to "animal" type monsters/bosses, but only x0.5 dmg to "undead" type monsters/bosses maces/blunts: x1.5 dmg to "undead" type monsters/bosses, but only x0.5 dmg to "animal" type monsters/bosses and all weapons do x1.0 dmg to "demon" type monsters/bosses, unless they got the affix of "+N% to demons" (N = +100% , +200%, or +300%), which was only from/for a few unique (bronze) weapons sadly, axes were never given the x1.5 dmg to demons (and hopefully ~balance would also mean having x0.5 to "animal" monsters/bosses and x0.5 to "undead" monsters/bosses, that is, if axes did get the x1.5 to demons)... in diablo 1... ----------- and even in diablo 2, axes still remain generally, weak, compared to the other weapon types, and due to the maces/blunts getting the x1.1 strength-dmg bonus, makes them generally the strongest types of (melee) weapons, as they get a bit more damage from how high your 'strength' stat is, compared to all of the other (melee) weapon types -------- diablo 2: roughly, it's something like this... mace/blunt weapon: 100 str = +110% phys_dmg 200 str = +220% phys_dmg 300 str = +330% phys_dmg etc etc etc vs all other melee weapons 100 str = +100% phys_dmg 200 str = +200% phys_dmg 300 str = +300% phys_dmg etc etc etc though, there are other factors too, like (melee) weapon reach-range (1-5), and also (melee) weapon speed too, and also each class differs with the different weapon types too, and "aesthetics/personal-taste/role-playing" of the person, lol

first time playing, awesome! here's some basics... ---------- controls: ------------- clicking the same key again, will close out of the screen/window/menus, or you can press the 'ESC' key or the 'SPACEBAR' key, as well, to close screens/windows/menus you can use the mouse wheel, and/or the arrow keys and ESC and ENTER/RETURN keys for the menu screens, otherwise, you can use the mouse and click on the scroll buttons and/or the scroll bar, as well too ---------------- left mouse button: actions/select, pick-up/move stuff, move character (click or hold), main attack slot 1 (click or hold, can change it via the left square icon at the bottom, next to your big red life ball), can either click on enemy's name, or on the ground in front of or behind the enemies (if holding the 'SHIFT' button) in the direction you want to attack, to attack them right mouse button: your secondary attack/spell/skill/aura/curse/etc, use item/scroll/spell/skill/etc C (or A): character/stat screen I (or B): inventory/equipment screen T: skill/spell screen S: speed skill/spell/etc selection screen (ONLY your secondary attacks/spells/skills, the right square icon on bottom, next to your big blue mana ball), also, you can set the hotkeys for them (F1-F8), by hovering the mouse over the desired attack/skill/spell and pressing the desired hotkey for it (F1-F8) 1-4 (the top row of number keys only): your corresponding belt slot usage ~ (tilde): expands/contracts your belt screen (different equipped belts have either: 1x4, 2x4, 3x4, or 4x4 slots) F1-F8: hotkeys for switching between your main (the left square icon at bottom next to the big red life ball) and/or secondary (the right square icon at bottom next to the big blue mana ball) attacks/skills/spells mouse wheel (up/down): you can also use this to cycle/switch/rotate through ONLY your secondary (the right square icon at bottom next to the big blue mana ball) hot-keyed attacks/skills/spells SHIFT: hold to stand still, able to attack without moving R (or press the tiny square icon with a person figure in it to the left of the yellow stamina/fatigue bar at the bottom): toggles on/off default of running/walking CTRL: hold to run (if default is walking) ALT: hold to highlight items/drops on the ground TAB: toggles on/off (and re-centers) the automap (can use the arrow keys to move it around) F9: centers automap F10: toggles on/off fading of automap F11: toggles on/of of your party on automap F12: toggles on/of of the names on automap Q: quest screen/log Z: toggles on/off your character/minions/allies/party-members/etc portraits H: help screen (just the UI explanation) P: party screen (only for MP/online) M (or the 'ENTER/RETURN' key): message/chat screen (only for MP/online) N: clears messages/text ESC: brings up the main menu options (see configure controls, to see controls, and/or change the keys for them, you can scroll down too, as there's more controls than it can fit on the screen), and closes any screen that is up SPACEBAR: closes any screen that is up lastly, in the center bottom of the screen, is a small rectangle with a triangle in it, click on this, to open/close the mini-panel you can also do these two message/chat commands (press M or ENTER/RETURN): /fps (toggles on/off the display of the frames per second and etc stuff, was more for online/MP play with older computers/online-connections) in SP only: /players1 /players2 /players3 /players4 /players5 /players6 /players7 /players8 for more or less, exp and drops from monsters/bosses, and, also how strong or weak they are too, used to replicate/simulate playing MP/online with 1-8 human players, for SP playing

IMPORTANT, about walking vs running: you can NOT run (you can only walk), when your stamina/fatigue bar is zero/fully-drained running drains your fatigue/stamina bar (also medium and heavy types of equipment further enhance the draining of your fatigue/stamina bar when running) when/while you're running, you do NOT do any blocking with your shield, so, if using a shield, when you get close to monsters, you want to stop running, and walk instead, so that you'll actually use your shield and its blocking to get your stamina/fatigue bar to increase/recover, you got to stop moving, you got to stand still for a moment, and then you can walk again, with it increasing/restoring --------------- STATS: ------------ character level (clvl): max is 99 life/hp: self explanatory mana/mp: self explanatory stamina/fatigue: mostly self explanatory (running drains your stamina/fatigue) -------------- strength (str): physical/weapon attack damage (for melee and projectile), req for equipment dexterity (dex): attack rating (AR) (accuracy with weapons, to hit percent/chance), defense rating (chance of getting hit with physical/weapon attacks), (LoD only: shield block chance), and req for projectiles (and some melee too), and damage for projectiles vitality (vit): life pool, and stamina/fatigue bar/pool energy (nrg): mana pool ---------------- damage/resistance types: 1. physical (phys) 2. magical (mgcl) 3. fire 4. ice 5. lightning (lit) 6. poison (psn) 7. holy (ONLY damages undead) --------------- resistances: normal hard/final max: 75% equipment/skill enhanced hard/final max: 95% there is also negative resistances, meaning more damage is done to you/them: min hard/final resistance is: ~ -200% (or ~ -150%) you, can have like ~ +200% resistance, but this isn't your final/actual resistance, as there's also spells/skills/etc, that can lower your resistance too, which results in your final/actual resistance, so, if able to, you DO want resistances to be OVER the +75%, +95%, +100% values, so that after they get lowered, your final/actual resistance value is still very high for you ------------- some monsters/bosses have immunities (though some immunities can be broken but others can't be, as it depends on how high is their resistance: +100% to ~ +200%, compared to how high the few means of breaking immunities, can be: ~ -70% to ~ -220%, but these are first divided by 5 or multiplied by 1/5, so it's actually: ~ -70/5 = ~ -14%, to, ~ -220/5 = ~ -44%) --------------- the ONLY means of breaking immunities: 1. conviction aura (paladin's offensive aura): up to ~ -150% fire/ice/lit resistance (CAN stack with lower resist) 2. lower resist curse (necromancer's curse): up to ~ -70% fire/ice/lit/psn resistance (CAN stack with conviction, except obviously not for psn, as conviction doesn't lower psn resistance) 3. amplify damage curse (necromancer's curse): -100% phys resistance (can NOT stack with decrepify) 4. decrepify curse (necromancer's curse): -50% phys resistance (can NOT stack with amplify damage) again, however, all of these values above are first divided by 5 (or multiplied by 1/5): fire/ice/lit: ~ -44% (~ +220% / 5) phys: ~ -20% (~ +100% / 5) psn: ~ -14% (~ +70% / 5) ------------- so any monster/boss with resistances of a minimum of: +144% for fire/ice/lit (+144% - 44% = 100% = immune) +120% for phys (+120% - 20% = 100% = immune) +114% for psn (+114% - 14% = 100% = immune) are unbreakable immunes, no matter what, unfortunately ------------- but, otherwise... once, an immunity is broken by whatever combination of the above 4 means, other means (such as the sorceress' 'cold mastery' skill's effect) of lowering their resistances can now also work, further lowering their resistances

    • @redmoonbloodmoon3161

skills: basically, you got to specialize your character, choosing what skill/s to specialize in, and then as much as able to, also put skill pts into the synergy skills for that skill/s that you're specializing around, along with building your character (stats and equipment) in that same specialization choice too generally, the high clvl skills are more powerful than the lower clvl skills, so generally, you're going to be choosing some high clvl skill to specialize in (though not always, as some low clvl skills are viable to specialize in too) but, there's also "one point wonder" skills, as you can just put a single skill pt into them, and then with +skill equipment, make that useful skill, very powerful/useful also... IMPORTANT: only HARD skill pts into the skills provide their synergy bonuses to your chosen skill/s to specialize in, the +skill equipment does NOTHING for the synergy skills bonuses, the synergy bonuses ONLY use actual hard skill pts into those skills for their synergy bonus values the skill's own effects ARE empowered also by the +skill equipment, just NOT it's synergy bonuses given from those other skills
