My external hard drive just died and wouldn’t power up. I was able to replace the power board (sata/ usb) adapter and reinstall it. Thanks. Changing a light bulb should not be this difficult. I can barely maneuver in there. Wtf were they thinking.
Edit: The 2024 model of this fan by the same name switched to an integrated LED. So you can't change the temperature of the light... Unless you are really techy! Original: I've been standing in the hardware store for over an hour going back and forth on which model bathroom fan I want. I was going to go with this model but the temperature of the light inside doesn't match, and I was assuming that the LED was hardwired in. Somehow the algorithm brought me to this video and just saved me a whole bunch of time! Thank you so much for making this!

Have you tried plugging the drive in a 3.5" docking station and connected that to Linux/Windows to get your data off it? A GitHub person made a decrytpion tool for all WD drives but he doesn't support the ASM1151W chip (meaning that he doesn't know where that 5th brand of ASM chip allegedly stores its decrypt key on the drive). However in a random thread, i read a reply where he said the ASM chip didn't encrrypt if a password wasn'tset by the user. Subsequently a person from Thailand claimed success when connecting the drive in his desktop CPU.

Your video really helped me access my light! however, I had a fv0811vfl5 installed in 2018, and this particular model requires a light bulb that's discontinued. it's a gu24 twist locking bulb, mls13gu35, compact florescent light bulb. The manual and light fixture even calls out for specific part number for this discontinued bulb; no other bulb will fit this light fixture. My workaround: I got two Led' screw in bulbs and 2 gu24 adapters(4 dollars ea!!) and plugged em in the little shroud W/ that reflective surface barely fit over the base of the adapter to the light bulb and I ended up having to flex and crack the shroud ever so slightly so it could shut the vent properly. I will definitely be emailing Panasonic about my light/vent combo needing a discontinued bulb. <3
Ya even when you replace with a bulb that technically is compatible it may not work at least that is what happened to me, it definitely is not ideal, glad you solved it though.
My 8TB MyBook was making no sound at all. Absolutely no activity when plugged in. Replaced the cord, still nothing. Then replaced the board, and still no activity at all. Any idea on what my next step should be?

Ive had the same issue. Removed drive from shell and removed power board. Then plugged directly into motherboard/power supply via SATA and still nothing. Any luck on your end?

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water! I have a 14TB unit that has the same type of failure. The number you are quoting to buy a replacement board, is that printed on the existing board inside the case, or somewhere else? Again sorry for restricting what you probably hoped was a long dead thread, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I’m not sure which number you’re referencing but there is a screwdriver that has a number and then the replacement board is on eBay if you tell me the time in the video I can tell you exactly where I got the number from

Hi , I have same HDD 4TB my Book. Its spinning but not showing the drives. In Disk management shows Disk unknown and not initialised. It's shows 0MB in properties. I have tried this but not worked. Is there any solution for this problem? Please try to send me Reply....

I have a 1TB from maybe 2015, and will try this method using the respective parts. If it works, awesome - if not I still subscribed. You may have useful information, or some fun ish to check. @@sportymicahglick8522 Just wanted to respond and say using a universal HDD station/hub works. Extremely easy after you follow the instructions here. Works just like it was inside the case. You can post that in a pinned post or description if you want. Thank you for the vid cause I wouldn't have tried this in the first place! Got all my files back!
@@thaguy this didn’t work for me. I was able to power the drive up but couldn’t get my info, it might have been because I had a Mac. Glad it worked for you
@@johnnystorm5236 Yeah I was on PC for this so it definitely had something to do with Mac. Hopefully there's method for Mac users.
I tried the method above as well as got a new power cable, drive still didn't come on. Would the docking station help or do I have a bigger problem?
