Moonwalk Peak Scrambling
มุมมอง 1483 หลายเดือนก่อน
I had planned to Summit Mount Johnson, an SPS Peak, above Treasure Lake, but realized when I reached Treasure Col that I didn't have enough time to summit and descend before bad afternoon weather rolled in. I opted to scramble the much easier Moonwalk Peak, located at the opposite end of the Treasure Col ridgeline.

Olancha Peak Trip Report
มุมมอง 4995 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, Bryan Feller provides a recent trip report for Olancha Peak with tips for new hikers. Olancha Peak is visible from Highway 395 near the town of the same name and stands at an elevation of 12,132ft. The trailhead for the hike is located past the town of Olancha at the Olancha Pass Trailhead. The trail gains about 3000ft in the first four miles and then levels off for about two...

Hike to Desolation Lake - Still Frozen on July 22d
มุมมอง 499ปีที่แล้ว
I hiked over Piute Pass on July 22, 2023. I was hoping to summit Pilot Knob. Getting over the pass was easy, but Humphreys Basin still has quite a bit of snow. In fact, from Desolation Lake, which was frozen, there were miles of mushy snowfields between the lake and Pilot Knob. I'll bag that peak another day :)

Day Hike of Sawtooth Peak (South) in the Eastern Sierra
I hiked Mount Tyndall way back in 1982, sometime in July I believe. I was only 17 years old at the time. Definitely my toughest hike to date. All your video brings back awesome memories. If you had to rate hiking Tyndall vs other mountain hikes how would you rate it? Would you say is one of the harder hikes or moderate? I would definitely say not easy by any means!
Looks like a nice summit
Great job!
spectacular! Congrats! great job. King of the slabbery! lol. I'm heading up there in September.
How many miles?
This is a route Wes does 4 times a week. I think its 13 miles.
Some people decried naming such an unimpressive mountain after Tyndall, but when you summit the peak and see the incredible 360-degree panorama of High Sierra peak, you finally understand why.
Wow, did you 6,000 feet climbing in one day? Impressive. Great job as always!
Nice vid and a great summit, what day did you hike this?
huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh
awesome
Love the area, love your hike. Nice!
This is on ly to-do list. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome views. Great presentation 😅
How long was the hike from the road to the bridge? Been wanting to go.
Wow, very cool
Cool hike. Is this somewhere in SD County?
Yes
Jacumba, CA. Do note that an Israeli agent and her creepy "film director" guy live at the bottom of "jacumba mountain".
Great views 😅
Loved it!
Awesome
The best adventure,beautiful sharing
what trail head did you use
Did it a few years ago. I thought going from the peak back to the ledge was the scariest part
Climbed it with my father and brothers back when JFK was president.
Epic video. Do Keith for me.
Glad to hear you mention how disorienting the high wooded bench section between Baxter Lake and Dollar Lake is. Makes me feel a little vindicated. I used Baxter to come out of the JMT from Dollar and that flat one mile section was the most disorienting. False trails keep cliffing out, brushing out, swamping out, etc. Took my best old school USGS quad reading skills to punch through it (I had no GPS).
Very cool is this on the East or West side of Amboy road?
beautiful homie
What time of year did you climb?
'Promo sm'
Middle Palisade is the Real McCoy! Nice job on reaching the summit. Very Cool.
Thank you. I'm headed out to Bishop in a few weeks to do this loop with a buddy from Big Pine. Awesome video and comments!!
Beautiful area! Crow
It kind of weird to me that, even tho it's the middle of July, there is still snow. Despite we going through intense heatwave. The weather in the mountains still makes me scratch my head. 🤔
Amazing insight into the current conditions! Thanks!
Great video! My buddy and I are going Baxter Pass to Rae Lakes. Probably gonna be snow pack right now starting at 9,000 feet. Do you think it’s sketchy with the snow? Any advice?
were u wearing water shoes for that creek crossing? cudnt tell

Check out Ship Mountains east of Amboy.
What a cool hike. I had never heard of it before. Is it near Joshua Tree?
Yes, it's past Joshua Tree just outside 29 Palms
Nice
Did there appear to be any routes to the top that didn’t require climbing rope work skill’s?
We probably didn't need ropes. Manny was new to scrambling, so I wanted to give him a little more confidence. The summit ridge is solid class 3.
I love that mountain.. in the middle of every where ❤
You are right about finding your people. Quitters Day is about finding your people with the same interest: quitting, so you don't feel guilty quitting by yourself. I feel the same way when attending AA meeting.
Solid advice.
The view at 1:10 is amazing. Is the peak in the center University peak?
Yes
It’s seems like you’re always finding some of the most amazing hikes. Nice job
Wow! Can't believe you guys did that without roping up. Impressive!
Wow👍👏👏👏
Fun Climb! LOL
No equipment? Absolutely crazy! I don't know how you're doing this but I'm super impressed.
Awesome views from the peak! Not sure about that climb down though. Lol! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us! 👍
