Scratch that, fixed it. I see others having the same problem. Solution: DO NOT LINK steam to dcs_updater.exe, just point steam to DCS.exe

@@crowsnest725 Thanks for replying but I don't have dcs on steam and are just wondering why there is no actual files from your user file page on DCS user file section. Then it should mean the actual files for your tool is not on DCD user files but on some external download site?

@@HarryTrent If you would have watch my vid it would have told you don't need to own DCS on steam. Watch the video or read text guide. Not sure how else to help you. Steam will not allow you to download a configuration file for sharing steam inputs. There's nothing I can do about that.

I'm working a brand new update and discord server to help people. But I've been quite busy with work. So hang on till then. It's still working for me. I still see that my layouts are available on MT and ST in the community tab. If you think its the launcher that's giving you issues try to disable the launcher in it's settings. I'm planning on doing an overhaul / refresh of my tool soon, because there were a lot of changes implemented in the new update.

Ok so it seems to be a steam overlay issue. I can get the overlay to work with DCS.exe but not DCS.MT.exe. Everything is enabled for steam overlay. Not sure why its not working for MT. Do you launch DCS MT from steam or are you just using DCS.exe?

@@WillyP_03 right click on DCS World MT in your steam library go to properties, make sure steam overlay is enabled on the game itself, also as check that steam input is enabled there. Other than that maybe remove you dcs exe's from steam and then re add them to steam. I'm probably gonna make a discord server so I can help people.

​@@crowsnest725It seems that after the new launcher closes to launch DCS it doesn't register as running on steam 😢

@@Simulator96 This happened to me one time but then I just restarted the exe on steam again and it did register it after that. You might have to just disable the launcher for the time being. I'm gonna do some digging into all of these new issues and come out with a new update plus video.

The only thing that happens is the pop menu is laggy sometimes, when lots of stuff its going on. I'm gonna do an overhaul / refresh of my tool pretty soon because there were a lot of changes implemented in the new update. I found out how to use the left stick as a camera selector. It will be activated if you hold down the start button. But I'm not sure if people would like this change or not.

Short answer no. Long answer ED did have a tool called camera bookmark menu but it's defunct now. So maybe they will bring it back. The object free camera which is now called object camera will save its last position in relation to any object. So maybe you could switch to object camera on my tool. Then press F4 and position camera on F4 view. Then go back to object camera view and position the camera on that. Then switch between the two cameras by pressing the real key binds for them. You may be able to have 2 saved camera angles on jet in this manner. Maybe that would work I'm not sure. Good question.

That sucks, the only thing I could think of is steam doesn't like that its and Logitech still. Here is some things you can try: Add the official DCS steam version to your account stop the download after it goes for a little bit. Then open steam input on the DCS steam version try to see if you see my layouts on that one. Some people been having more luck seeing it on official steam version. Then use the method I pinned in this comment section to get it to work on the version of DCS you want. Another you thing you can try is click show all layouts when searching for layout to begin with. Other that you might have to buy an xbox controller. I wish there was a way I can simply share a file with everyone but that's not how steam does things. You can also try this direct link: steam://controllerconfig/223750/3243229764 that link is my layout on the official steam version of DCS. The link is supposed to auto open steam from your browser URL try chrome and Firefox. Sorry sometimes it just doesn't work for some people.

Hmm, maybe install the DCS world steam version then stop the download(its free). Then try to see if you can find my layout on there then use the method I pinned in this comments section to get it working on the version you want.

I'm not sure about ps3 controller compatibility. I only published an experimental version for PS4 controllers as it stands. Sorry.

Wow I never heard of this being an issue before. Having a steam account is pretty mundane. Maybe create brand new Gmail account or something.

@@crowsnest725 Thanks, tried on 4 different devices; PC, iPad, Android Tablet & iPhone (using mobile data, instead of WiFi through my router) & trying with two different email accounts, Googlemail & Hotmail; No joy on any of them! 😱 Given up. As I say, a shame 🤣

@@crowsnest725 Yeah… You would have thought so. However…! It also seems that without being able to ‘login’ to steam there is no way to get any assistance. Their old support email simply returns ‘no longer monitored’. Trawling the www suggests it not an uncommon issue, but yet to find a fix.🤣

Got my X-Box controller today, set it up with ‘Steam Input’ and your Tool Ver 6.5 - Works a treat, thank you 🫡 😎 Though, it seems, I’ll need to ‘practice’ a bit to get used to it 🤣

For me this didnt work since it wouldnt show the exported template. But i found a work around if this doest work for you. Add the DCS Steam version to your library. Then search for the layout, hit the sprocket, then export it and give it Name you can remember. Then open the windows file explorer and find your steam directory and follow theses steps: steamapps/common/steam contoller configs/your userid/config/then a random number (this is the dcs steam version for me its 223750). Then copy the "whatyounamedit.vdf" file and go one step back and select your dcs version you added via the add nonsteamgame funtion and paste the file. This worked for me

@@crowsnest725 Hey Crow, unfortunately its not visible, however I am using a PS Controller with DS4Windows which in steam appears as two controllers, one PS and one XBOX. Now the funny thing is that I can see your layout for steam version DCS which is good because I could edit it, made about 100 photos of each page, setup, setting and I could essentially recreate it from scratch. So let me just say this: THANK YOU for doing this for us because its a LOT OF WORK you have done. I am not yet done currently, also I had [ and ] mapped to L and K for me so its slightly different. Last time I tried it wasn't working because I only setup the DPAD directional menus and I realized every single menu has its own, which I am doing today. In case it wouldn't work, would it be possible that I share it with you so you can review it? Understandably I wont be using the layout and share it publicly as its your work.

@@crowsnest725 Well, the new 6.4 is again visible for the steam verison, AND is visible for the added non steam version. Once I click on it, that steam window crashes, but it seems as its overwriting my handcrafted version (that is based on yours fully) However when in game (steam overlay is on) its totally random, one time it would open the radial menu for half a second then never again, other times it never pops up. I am loosing hope :(

@@autobusiness3491 Instead what you could do is apply the layout you see on the steam version, then export that as your own personal template, via the sprocket in layouts then restart steam. Then technically you can apply that template to any other game you have on steam. So that's how can do that in a few clicks. @@autobusiness3491 3:45 You need tap d pad down once then hold dpad down again for menu to appear you can also try running steam big picture mode.Just tap d pad down a bunch of times the hold it. not sure why its like that.

Hey man! :) so, first of all, I use DCS Multi-Thread version. Tried to install layout for it but does not work, only works for the "standard" version. So I tried to first locate the layout in community tab using standard version, export it (save it), then add the MT version to Steam but could not apply the exported layout somehow 🤨 What am I doin wrong? Thanks for any help! :)

@@cptmrcalm Thank you for the profile. I followed the instructions, got the layout select, DCS in Steam, Xbox controller cleared, I hold down on the pad and I do not get a menu like you do. Tried shift tab and nothing. Steam is enabled as per the instructions. Any idea on what I am doing wrong?

@pedrosura crowsnest mentions about having to go into big picture mode to see the interface pop up. Personally, I never bothered with the mini UI because I learnt to use the Xbox "blindly". My only wish was that the rotating camera and zoom in and out were analogue - meaning I could control the speed of rotation and zoom..currently all axis are a set speed. So either slow or fast and not controllable. But, it's still very effective. Crowsnest provides a link and on the forum, he details the big picture process.
