Christmas Island Night Dive

First night dive at Christmas Island. Shore dive at Flying Fish Cove. Most fish are in 'sleep mode', hence the bumping into coral. The large leather jacket has an interesting way of sleeping.
The Hidden Abrolhos Island Sink Hole

The Abrolhos Islands are located 70km offshore from Geraldton, Western Australia. This was our first dive of our June 2012 trip (see other video). The massive protected sandy bay of only 1.5m deep is pretty boring. But, hidden under a magical rainbow (haha, great timing) lies a 46m deep sink hole of only a few metres in diameter. A dive last weekend at Jackson Rocks near Rottnest Island. Spent the majority of the dive following a feeding Dusky Morwong. After that, a cuttle fish found me, who wanted a little bit of a tender touch.
Broome Time....Sail Time

Switch baiting for sail fish off Broome with a local legend; with underwater footage of the releases. Some very active and interested whaler sharks come in for a look aswell. Unfortunately, the tide was running, hence the vis was down a bit. Keep an eye out for the inquistive dolphin during the release aswell. Diving a small lump off the Perth Coast - Two Rocks last week. Samson Fish, large Dhu Fish and crays & various other creatures are seen. Watch for the Sambos using a sand patch as a back scratch. Excuse the clarity as there is alot of sediment currently with the northerly current pushing down the west coast. Cheers Pete

A few weekends ago I was out squidding with the family. The water was reasonably clear, but I knew it would be cold. Toughen up I thought and I jumped overboard with the video cam. The water was cold, but it was great fun filming and watching the squid move in on the jig. I'll try again but concentrate on getting some close up action. Enjoy

My first underwater video. Filmed at Christmas Island in Oct 09. An awesome experience that I would like to share with those that fear what is below the magical oceans surface. Hopefully, POD don't mind being associated with big mean Giant Trevally! Enjoy.

At .58- 1.04 is a now extinct species of Acropora. The reefs mostly died in 2015-16 mass coral bleaching due to climate change. At 4.0-4.5 and 7.0-7.15. is another now locally extinct species of table Acropora. The soft corals are gone too.

Too bad these fish are now threatened. I think they are fmgoing to have to develop regulations that make “drone fishing” illegal. If you keep killing as many as you can they will be extinct before the next decade is done.
