The Fantastic Four Meet The One Above All
Yea and all deardevils existence amounts to is the killers wearing spiffy costumes and still killing
I have to say, these panels are particularly interesting when you take into consideration that there is an entirely different comic where superman, knowing that Shazam is a child, takes away shazam's ability to speak and beats him to death.
Change the title That's Daredevil
How many criminals in the comics get out of jail and end up killing innocent people? That's the fear right? It would become a 24 hour job to keep tabs on everyone getting out that DD had had a hand in capturing in the first place.
I think Clark should have adopted Billy!
I remember watching the Spider-Man cartoon back in the 90s (I miss saturday morning cartoons), and this episode happened where Peter could warp other heroes over to help. He brought bits of various teams, such as Wolverine and Storm from the X-Men. The only group he brought everyone from was the FF. Pete just had to bring his Favorite Family. Just rambling and reminiscing. Sorry not sorry~
Bruce: So Shazam is really a kid named "Bat-son?" Clark: Don't you have enough Robins?
This only makes the injustice timeline worse
Stories like this are why I love Clark so much and why I get so frustrated wirh people who call Superman boring. It's the hardest thing in the world to try to do the right thing, or even to know what that is. To see someone come into a situation that everyone else has just *accepted* - and he stands and questions it, challenges it... it's so captivating, powerful, and inspiring.
I love the interaction between the Wizard and Superman cause its clear Supes words actually hit deep with the Wizard knowing Shazam needed Superman especially rn for support.
I miss heroes who are genuinely good people down to their very core, and aren’t anti heroes or dark and gritty
Superman DOES confront Shazam, the old wizard, AFTER he discovers Captain Marvel is really a young boy.
injustice superman:
Shazam shows superman he is a minor
Peter and Johnny's friendship has to be one of my favorite in all of Marvel.
I remember watching an episode in Young Justice where they didn't know his real identity. And then some dark magic users split the world into two dimensions, one with adults and one with children and he was the only one that could go between both. Of course Batman knew and apparently Wonder Woman was really unhappy about it after they brought his membership into the Justice League into question
As usual the villain to many stories, American Healthcare system
Y'all be turning Batman into a child labourer with these comments
Why does superman look so disgusted that shazam's best friend is a kid. Does he think something else is going on?
He knew it was... _weird_.
How would you react if a guy at least in his mid-twenties told you earnestly his best friend is a child? That does seem a bit odd, doesn't it?
Superman asking "who did this to you?" is the purest distillation of the concept of Tranquil Fury, he is so angry that he's calm. Which is terrifying given what Supes can do when pushed, and the Wizard Shazam having the stones to try and justify his robbing a kid of his childhood... he's truly lucky Superman does NOT think he is a god and should pass down judgment like one. Otherwise, magic or no, Wizard Shazam would quickly understand terms like "relativistic speed" and "explosive decompression". Yeah Superman isn't immune to magic; but that means little when you see lightspeed as a casual exercise pace, and regularly tango with gods of the New and Grecian variety.
"who did this to you?" goes hard
Shazam being Supermans apprentice makes so much sense in so many ways
Saruman the White
"There's a starmaaaaaan living in the skyyy...."
"How can you give these powers to a child!?" Buddy, you've been able to bench press oil tankers since you were 10.
Sure, but that wasn't something given to him, it's just the way his body works. Besides, I feel like that's all the more reason for Clark to be upset another child has to have the responsibility of superpowers.
So, ya like gladiator movies, Billy?
Kinda hypocritical when he himself kills him
Injustice is garbage.
Not only did Clark imediatly stoped with the scolding. He went to the wizard and was ready to beat him up. That's just how our Clark is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Awww❤❤
And then in a dark future he lobotomizes him
He is only a kid for the first few years after getting his powers. Billy still ages.
until the next DC universe reboot.
@@fangorn23 Thats true, he does keep getting reset to childhood...
Yeah but its still crazy. Because its not even just powers, his empowerment literally changes him mentally and emotionally by granting him wisdom that his kid brain struggles to process at times. It must be like constantly having an adult whispering in your ear telling you what is and is not a good idea. And despite HAVING that wisdom, he is still a freaking KID. With all sorts of emotional and mental issues that being a foster kid at that age can bring. So no, he doesnt always listen to that voice. And it probably means he feels 10x worse when he screws up because he had the right answer being in his head the whole time and chose something else because his teenage mind couldnt rationalize the right choice in the heat of the moment. I can kinda relate. I have adhd and when I was a kid, i was on meds to help control it. While on the meds i could feel myself losing control when something was going wrong and I was about to snap. I had that voice telling me to chill out and take a breath or do something different and at times it was SO HARD to listen and I often felt like garbage afterwards when i didnt and got into way more trouble than I would have if I had listened to that inner voice. Honestly, when done properly, the entire idea of shazaam as billy batson is so interesting and so much can be done with it that he is a fascinating character.
I like that Superman asks no more questions to Billy as soon as he sees that he's a child other than "Who did this to you?" He knew that Billy wasn't completely responsible for what he did.
You cant expect a 12 year old, or however old he is here, to behave like an experienced adult who grew with his powers naturally. Superman knew that and realized what the real source of the problem was.
Clark: i can't believe that wizard would give THAT much power and responsibility to an orphaned child! When i was a kid, it was a nightmare dealing my powers and i had both my parents to guide and support me, can't imagine how tough it is for him😔 anyway thanks for listening bruce, got any ideas to help the kid? Bruce: ....... so this ones invincible right?
One of the gifts given to Captain Marvel was the Wisdom of Soloman. God I hate that they renamed the character.
oddly a plotline I never really thought of, Superman mentoring and psuedo fathering Shazam. I mean their powersets are almost identical and it's in Clark's character.
"Who did this to you?" That line puts everything into perspective
Is this a hired narrator or something? Hear this dude every so often talking about a whole range of things, including droughts.
Ai
@@chikihando2483 Are you sure? Got a source. Sounds way too good.
@@CameronKiesser voice synthesizers has been around for decades.. the most popular example of them is Vocaloid.. integration of AI has greatly improve it to a point that it's almost natural speech...
@@willowravencroft I still doubt that this voice is AI. Sounds too good and I've heard it before ElevenLabs started taking off. But if it is... Another spooky step in not being able to tell.
"My *real* name is Clark." Sure it is, Kal...
Even when exposed to the Lasso of Truth, he says his name is Clark Kent. Birth name does not equal real name.
I just always thought the original wizard died.
Billy got his powers bestowed upon him because he is worthy
Calm Angry is always scarier than loud angry.
Definitly one of the few times we have seen superman pissed off so badly.
Shocked nah bro was pissed
Supes really said, "Take me to your Principal right now."
Clark tells this to Bruce. Bruce : Huh, A superpowered Robin, I'll take him.
Clark: I got dibs
Superman: "You can't just have kids try to be heroes!" 😭 Batman: "How would you like to join me in stopping dangerous crimes with psychopaths, young orphan?" 🗿
trust me you dont want to be spiderman😂
-WIZARD! •How tf did you get here? -The name is Superman, how do you think I got here? •That's a good point.
I thought Shazam was the wizard and Billy Batson is Captain Marvel.
Yes, and no. ORIGINALLY, Billy was Captain Marvel, but due to Marvel also having a Captain Marvel, and it making sense for the company Marvel to have a Captain Marvel, they eventually stopped calling Billy that and started calling him Shazam, even though the DC Captain Marvel predates Marvel Captain Marvel. So, now there is Shazam and the Wizard Shazam.
@@Jeezes718 But the current 'captain' in Marvel was called 'Miss Marvel'
@@BeeWaifu There have been 6 Captain Marvel's in Marvel over the years.
@@Jeezes718 I know of the kree Captain Mahr Vel and Miss Marvel. Thanks to Earth's Mightiest Heroes (the only Avengers cartoon that exists).
@BeeWaifu Mar-vell was the first. When Monica Rambeau got her powers, the news called her Captain Marvel because of how similar her powers were to Mar-vell, but eventually, she decided to stop using the name as she had no connection to Mar-vell. For a time, Mar-vells son called himself Captain Marvel but then stopped because he felt he was just copying his dad. Then his daughter did the same. Then, a different kree invaded Earth and was persuaded by the Avengers to become the new Captain Marvel. Then, after decades, Carol Danvers took up the name Captain Marvel.
Clark and the Wizard's final exchanges here give off the impression like his opinion of the old man changed a bit. Not total forgiveness, but a certain degree of understanding and just a little bit of common ground they can agree on.
to quote the old meme: kids, don't be like billy. if a man you've never seen before in your life visits your home (especially when it is in a bad neighborhood), tells you straight up he's not with social services, and starts undressing, run! in 99.9% of cases it unfortunately isn't superman revealing his iconic symbol to show you he's there to try and help you through your trauma. quiet the opposite, actually.
To be fair, he can literally call upon the powers of the gods if he was in danger
