Happy Birthday! I’ve been really focusing a lot on the older comics. I love collecting them and Frank at Nae Nae’s has some great prices.
The older I get, the better the older books are to me
@ I’ve started pressing and cleaning some old books. I’ve really enjoyed it but I have a lot to learn.
@ I need to buy some cheap books and learn to do that too
Your description of the main character in Beneath the Trees makes zero sense. That main character is not kind or caring. She is a murdering psychopath.
I’ve worked psych for 20 years and also love horror movies so sometimes it’s possible that I see shades of grey where none exist. It was just my personal opinion of the book, thank you for watching and your honesty. What was your opinion of the book overall, not just the character of Sam?
I’ve always been a big Batman fan but I missed The Last Halloween. I’m going to have to go back and get caught up on this story. I’ve enjoyed the Absolute WW so far. Justice Unlimited has been pretty good also.
I’ll have to try JL, but yes definitely you should pick up BTLH. It’s amazing stuff
Nice! 👍🏻 I like it. See you in the next video.
Thanks-see you then:)
That’s awesome! The sign looks great!
Thanks, we were both very happy with how it turned out!
I’ve been wanting to check out the Tin Can Society. My LCS didn’t pick that up. I’ll also have to go back and check out Green Lantern. I’ve really enjoyed the Absolute universe and I liked the first Justice League book. I also enjoyed Falling in Love on the Way to Hell. Congrats on 150. Merry Christmas! 🎄
Merry Christmas to you as well! I was torn on Falling In Love because I wanted to add it but I didn’t feel like I could add anymore honorable mentions or the list would start getting unruly lol
Keep it up!
Thank you! I don’t plan on stopping or slowing down anytime soon:)
Happy bday
Thank you very much!
Happy birthday
Thank you very much!
Thanks for the review, Cheers!
You’re most welcome! Thank YOU for putting out such amazing material month in and month out:)
My husband said NO to the movies😢
Wait a minute…..;)
I gotta admit the Art is indeed gorgeous
Most definitely….one of my favorite artists of all time!
Arts not really my thing but the story of this and transformers drew me in
The story was definitely extremely strong, and to be honest I was not the biggest fan of DWJ’s artwork until I saw it on TF but the story has kept me coming back even after other artists took over
I really enjoyed the Absolute Universe so far. The action in Batman was awesome and the new Alfred was interesting. Wonder Woman was the best of the 3. Her whole story was interesting. I also enjoyed the Superman story. I liked him being part of the working class of Krypton and his suit is pretty cool.
I agree that WW was the strongest of the 3, and I’m willing to give all the titles at least 3 issues to try and change my mind. I don’t think the other two are bad stories, just not as imaginative as they could’ve been
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Smile 2 - I can't wait to see it.
I haven’t seen it yet either, so I’m excited for it to drop
Thanks for review. Cheers, DSTLRY!
You’re welcome, thanks for checking out my video! Cheers!
Congrats! 🍾👍🏻 See you in the next video. 📺☕📖
Thanks! I’m glad you’re enjoying the content:)
I go to Nae Nae’s all the time. I usually pick up some old Superman or Lois Lane books. Frank is the best. Great shop with great prices. Happy Anniversary!
Thank you:) There ya are! I’ve been wondering where you got off to since I havent seen any comments from you lately! Hope all is well :)
@ Been busy with work schedule but things are back to normal now.
Wishing you much success!
Thank you, it’s been a dream for decades:)
Oh a can't whit to read it
Thanks, I can’t wait for you guys to hold a physical copy in your hands…it’s a personal journey that I will hopefully see to its conclusion soon:)
Yipeee
Hi, sir. I'm intriguing: why your connan issue 3 has a different cover? Is it a variant one? See you in the next video. 👍🏻📖☕
I looked it up on Previews website and it looks like the Cover A, hmmm that’s odd?
Thanks for your support!
5:39 if you like James Robinson I recommend checking out his Starman series it’s actually pretty good, I started reading it this week
assuming you haven’t already read it though lol
Actually, I’m trying to collect the floppies of that one lol. I picked up a pack of issues 0-14 a couple of weeks ago, but I’m trying to get at least through 25 before I start reading because I know it runs for 81 issues and I don’t want to fall in love and have to wait a long time to pick back up. Thanks, a great recommendation :)
Is there any particular storyline within the overall series that is your favorite?
@@doclail8165 Oh yeah, The Crossover with Mike Mignola’s Hellboy and Batman is pretty sick I can’t wait till I reach that issue
@@doclail8165 but also I’m currently not that far into the Starman issues I think I’m only on the 4th issue at the moment so I’ll definitely let you know if there’s another storyline I enjoy ( btw I’m using the compendium format version which is a pretty THICK book)
0:39 meow meow
Nice video
Thanks for checking the channel out, I hope you find more videos that interest you! Are there any comics you would like to see me cover?
@@doclail8165 I am a marvel fan so any of those comics lol
@@thebronzepage827 lol ok so open season I did a review of Daredevil: Man Without Fear a little while ago by Frank Miller and JRJR, if you’re interested
Weird title. I hope it doesn’t erase Paul Dini and Dustin Nguyen’s "Heart of Hush".
I haven’t read Heart of Hush, but I’ll have to track that down. Jeph is usually reverent of other material to a good extent, so Hush 2 should be no different
For me the news of Loeb and Lee and Williams & Sinclair getting back together to do Hush 2 is the best news I could have gotten. I've been reading Batman since the age of 5 In 1972 I never enjoyed a story as much as I enjoyed that first hush story. I remember the phenomenon that was going on when that story was being published month after month and everybody was reading that story and talking about it online, you did not want to miss an issue of that story and for them to be bringing that story back and getting Jim Lee's artwork is just phenomenal. I don't know that I can wait till March
It’ll be the first time I’ve picked up Batman regularly since around the 630s Jason Todd/Red Hood stories-I got started with Hush and kept going until then, dropped it not to pick it up again until Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s run (in trades).
The Netflix started long before the "allegations" was on legal paperwork. That's why nothing was really said until the 6th episode. But HHH was extremely nervous and tried to get it trashed for goof. But the young lady that legal actions lead to McMahon's resignation in January is that she will have her time to tell her story with regards to the Netflix series. With that said, it's very informative to watch different stories from each generation. Personally, I respect Hart school did in Canada, The Texas promotion did as a family for wrestling, HHH as a student and comprehension, and Dean Milenko/John Morrison most underappreciated. (Ted Turner credit for showing what Hollywood will do to to people) sorry couldn't resist the diddy pun. Imma 50cent and DX fan 4Life .
“….And if you’re not down with that, I’ve got two words for ya!” 😎😜 Great point about listening to the generational stories that naturally grow in the wrestling world. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing that aspect covered in such great detail, and I admit I learned a story or two that I was unfamiliar with before viewing it. Honestly, my actual favorite part of this experience was my wife’s reaction to some of the bits they showed (Trish barking like a dog, for one), that she simply couldn’t believe they had done-she never watched it growing up, so watching the Attitude Era was shockingly new to her.
@doclail8165 lmfao, we was wildin out in them days... we are def a all around underappreciated generation between X and millinials.... there were lotta "highly" questionable moments during the MNWs.... gotta appreciate the good also cuz their were good matches from 8:57 to 11 (#iykyk). There weren't really many snackbar matches cause everybody had a story and tag team part was beyond stacked #OhYouDidntKnow
I was alive for the 80s/Hogan/Macho era….it was great for sure, but the Attitude Era was def wildin out lol. Sometimes I miss that and all its shenanigans, but I realize that it’s past its sell by date, unfortunately just like most of the performers of the time.
Looks good!!! Waiting for mine to arrive. Should be next week. So many fantastic artists on board, Klaus Jansen, Bill sienkiewicz, Chris samnee. I can't wait.
It definitely is starting off strong and I’m super excited, too! Can’t wait for Janson’s issue
I hope u do this for issue #1 aswell😊
Yup I will. What’d you think of the 0 issue?
@@doclail8165 I really enjoyed it, I re read long halloween and read dark victory for the first time recently to prepare for this series and then the #0 issue and I loved it.
I think Jeph Loeb is one of the underrated greats….btw, have you had a chance to watch my review for ish 1? It’s up as of this afternoon:)
I’m shocked the emotional spectrum had a side effect related to sharing that emotion with everyone. He seems to be a pure willpower user. Shocking he deploys the bat vehicle just to create a link.
I agree with you that sorrow would be fueled by straight willpower, and his power set seems to be equal to Hal’s, perhaps even stronger. Yeah, that was kind of a surprise, but great to see Hal flying the batship-I love getting to see him in the air, using his pilot skills. Any other books you enjoyed this week?
@doclail8165 hadn't had much. Did you see anthro earth? It's a book I found on Google books. One thing to note, hals having a bad day when he gets swarmed by robots like amazos or manhunters.
No, I just looked Anthro Earth up-looks interesting, though I dont really read manga, mainly just mainstream comics. I’ve started to branch out over the last 5 years or so, reading stories like Beneath the Trees Where No one Sees, Damaged People (Alien Books), Twig and The Me You Love in the Dark, for example.
That was a big haul. I missed the white boat. I’m going to have to try and pick it up somewhere.
It was huge for me lol but there was a ton of great books this week. You should definitely try White Boat, the second issue flips the premise of the whole thing on its head (in a positive way). Did you try the first issues of Deadpool Team Up or Convert?
@Bamamonts did you ever find White Boat 1-2?
I just went there today. You're very nice
Thanks for your kindness! I hope Frank was able to help you find some books you were looking for. Did you pick up anything cool?
Some X-Men, Spider-Man and Spider-Girl comic
@@quincykearney9862 Awesome! I’ll have to thank Frank the next time I get by there and let him know people are finding him through me and vice versa. Have you tried the new Ultimate Spider-Man or X-Men books out yet?
Wolverine Revenge was on top of my list this week. I love the Greg Capullo art.
I didn’t get a chance to pick that up as I grabbed my stack on the fly today, but I’ll try to see if another shop still has a copy and talk about it on an Initial Assessment video soon.
@@doclail8165 I read it last night. It’s starting out good and the art is great.
I tried to swing by the closest shop to me this afternoon but no luck….maybe I’ll find one tomorrow lol. Glad you enjoyed it-what other interesting/great books did you get this week?
@@doclail8165 I picked up Crisis on Infinite earths #5 and Dark Knights All Winter #2. All winter has been good so far.
Honest question-did you notice anything off on Capullo’s art when it comes to his Cap and Winter Soldier, or am I imagining things? And after having a night to think it over after talking about it on Initial Assessment, might it have anything to do with Tim Townsend’s inks instead of Capullo’s pencils?
The DC compact comics are a great example of what the American comic scene in general should do and that is design lines/imprints from scratch to cater to casual/non comics readers along with being appealing to regular/hardcore readers.
I totally agree with you that if you don’t adapt, you die-and although I don’t think DC or Marvel will disappear in the next 5 years, if big changes don’t come, 20 years might see a totally different environment. I love these new compact versions of some of the best DC has produced over the years ( tho some others they have printed first up are head scratchers)
Not much of a reader myself at the moment, hope you find a gooden, though; and have a great day, yourself!
Found a bunch of good books today-hopefully you’ll get back to being able to read soon😎
Very surprised court of owls and hush came out in compact form before year one .
Yeah I would’ve thought Year One or DKR, but you’ve gotta remember that Scott Synder is heading the new initiative so they are going to show him some love
Year one is already at a cheap price
It works for me. The price is great, it's in color and collects all 12 issues for$9.99 instead of getting all 12 for close to $100 . I still wish it would've been a bit bigger size, but, it's still bigger than a manga volume, which,i think this is DC's way of competing with manga price wise and format wise
Plus, it’s totally portable, which is generally not the case with full-sized TPBs. Which of the first offerings are you most interested in picking up?
@@doclail8165 already got All Star Superman and Court of Owls Batman. Not too sure I'll get the others just because I'm not too familiar with Wonder Woman, Cat Woman and Green Lantern outside of their interactions with Batman and Superman I'm really hoping they do Superman For All Seasons and some of the Grant Morrison Batman stuff
I think All Star Superman is next on the list for me too, then Watchmen
@@doclail8165 I'm on the fence with Watchmen. I used to own one of the deluxe editions for the longest time, but never read it and gave it away, although,it was my fault because of my own biases. I always found the hardcore fan base a bit too much and that pushed me away, which it really shouldn't, because I really enjoy Alan Moore's take on Swamp Thing and Superman
Idk, maybe you’re a Todd fan, but I believe Andrews work is superior in every way. Capullo would be the bar I measure by. But McFarlanes flashy cheese cakery never did it for me. I bought The Power Fantasy, image owes you a cheque! Lol
Yeah I’m not a Todd fanboy that buys EVERYTHING he produces, but he is one of my top 5 Spidey artists. (Today is JRSR, Bagley, Todd, JRJR and Gil Kane lol) I’d LOVE to see Greg’s take on Peter and Co., though it’ll probably never happen :( I really liked Power Fantasy, gonna cover it more in depth to start a new video series so keep an eye out!
@@doclail8165 will do🫡
@@doclail8165 agreed that Greg getting a crack at Spidey would be Keno!!
Cant wait!❤
Thank you, I love adding more to the channel that hopefully you all love:)
*962 million-smh at myself
How do we purchase the comics on Amazon?
Sorry, I’m just now seeing this. Here’s a link to issue 1, the whole series should be available www.amazon.com/Beneath-Trees-Where-Nobody-Sees-ebook/dp/B0CCJYWF1Y
Bring the popcorn bucket back
No special bucket, unfortunately
@@doclail8165 😰
Yeah I was bummed out for sure

Awesome man. Congrats!
Thanks! It’s a good feeling to be moving in a positive direction:)
Hi Congratulations on 100 subs!! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you very much! This has been a fun journey so far, and it’s only just beginning:)
I need this lol
We’re gonna make the list and do the video tomorrow, good luck:)
Woo hoo to a comic room!!! Can't wait!
I’m really looking forward to it…..and finding you more than sufficient space for your yard and knitting stuff, babe:)
Picking up Redcoat. Hope this story picks up a little more.
I might have to check that one out-hearing great things. Are you reading Rook Exodus?
I picked up and I’m looking forward to reading the second issue of falling in love on the path to hell.
Had a chance to read Falling…issue 2 yet? I thought it was great, starting off very strong
I did. It’s been a good story so far. I’m looking forward to the next issue.
Awesome, can’t wait:) Anything you’re excited about coming out out this week?
I’m looking forward to Dark Knights of Steel All Winter and Crisis on infinite earths 4 I think.
I think collaboration for writing may keep the story from feeling like another re-re-re-rehash.
Yeah, that’s possible-I’m still thinking too many cooks in the kitchen on a short run of issues can muddy the water, tho….
They should just let me write it….
It’s my dream job but you gotta break in before you can go straight to the flagship book lol
