when i graduated high school in 2010 i partied here a lot for a couple of years and it was the place to be when college was in during the weekends but my opinion over the years it turned into a giant politics shit show. had a lot of good memories at a bar called Tony's and they had a signature shot called the "hot nut" that was super tasty.....yes awkward name for a shot but it was amazing and the OGs of Athens happens would know :p. if i could go back in time I'd do it all over again because that's how amazing court street was.

Great video! I love fairs - my favorite thing (when I lived in Pennsylvania) was to watch the sheep-to-shawl competition where they have a space with several people and sheep and shear the sheep, card and spin the wool into yarn and then weave it a shawl. It sounds boring, but I LOVE it! Other than that, my fav thing to do at the fair is look at all the duckies and bunnies (and chickens and cows and... you get the idea ☺). So fun to see your smiling faces, thanks for the vid!

I went to OU for college in the early 2010s. Amazing place. So, Tony's has live music on certain nights. Last I heard, every other Tuesday is jazz night and it's super excellent. They also have their signature drink "The Hot Nut." Also Casa Nueva is an amazing restaurant/bar/venue and it's a co-op! If you're in to Coffee, Donkey Coffee is a great space to hang, study, or watch musicians play in the evening. Also, just exploring the neighborhoods directly off the main stretch, you can see all the interesting houses on the hills, and you get a real sense of community and history walking through them.

I grew up in Athens and spent my early adult life there until I went to Slippery Rock University in PA. Luckys is one of my favorite bars as it’s a Steelers bar. I haven’t been back there in years. I also worked at Broneys for a little bit but I wouldn’t recommend working there lol. I do recommend The Oak Room. It’s a locally owned restaurant and bar. I’m friends with the family who owns it. I now live in Japan and I do miss my hometown.

If you're there during the summer on a weekend, check out the Little Train Ride in Mills Park. It's a 2 foot gauge Railroad that's about 1.5 mile trip and it's only $2 per person. They operate from noon to 4 PM during the summer on Saturday and Sunday.
