Chat about 6D ATS-1r compared to Shoei RF1200 Lids
Quick comparison of my new 6D ATS-1r helmet compared to my old Shoei RF1200. This is not a review. It’s just some random dude on the internet talking about helmets.

So why is gas leaking frm that part on my bike? I have a 01 cbr 929rr
I ordered one of these on closeout to replace a old HJC FS 15. At $360 usd or 490 cdn, I think I made the right choice but haven't got to see the helmet yet.
@@FanaticalKilla at that price you did good!! 👍
Any advice on how to make the right padding fight tightly under the rim of the helmet? Thanks for the great tutorial.
If I install the cooling fan, do I have to set the ECU program??
@@kjy4326 if you want the fan to operate, yes you need to have it enabled in the ECU.
Super helpful video, thank you! I followed step by step and everything fit great (for the most part). My Neotec II was made in 2018 so it didn’t have a big enough slot to fit the microphone. However, I was able to cut a small bit out of the plastic with a soldering iron so it now sits comfortably. For those not uncomfortable with making a slight modification to the plastic, you can still fit this to an older Neotec II.
@@adrade1854 thanks. Glad the video was a help.
Brilliant, this video is really useful. Thanks for taking the time and sharing.
I spent all weekend trying to get this SRL Mesh into my Shoei GT Air II. No success. Your video helped by showing the antennae installation and I will give it another shot before returning the unit.
What did you the with the air filter? Did you reinstall the flap. Or was it still in? I am trying to go back to original as well.
Epic !
Mulțumesc prietene pentru videoclip! Mi-a fost de mare ajutor!👍🤟🏍️
Most unbearably noisy helmet I have ever owned! 6D is like being permently stuck in a wind tunnel, even with plugs in. I'm trying to find why. Everything looks pretty cool, except the visor doesn't seem to seal 100% around the rear/sides. Perhaps wind is slipping in here. I'll have to sell it on if I can't figure it out. Bought a hjc 70 - it feels silent compared to 6D.
I run 6D for motocross and I’ve had to test it out multiple times and I’m glad to say the Omni directional system works very well
That is actually really good to hear that the system works. Thank you for sharing that with everyone.
Then run the servo eliminator
Nevermind I have it right if u leave it locked on down position it runs like shit till u hit 8k if u leave it all the way up it's awesome
It's currently locked in the str8 up position
Hey man I took the servo out which position should I leave the valve locked on
I went to Sena Motorcycles and it said the web site is no longer available?
what is the different between this fan and Milwaukee-Eight Oil Cooler Fan
This is that fan. It is available from HD.
@@ontwowheels6479 is this fan is worth it to control the heat in the bike
Please, I also own a BAIC 929, and there is a malfunction in the piece responsible for moving the wires. Is it possible for me to cancel the gate and install another piece that is closed on the side so that the four pipes are open with each other and there will be no error or imbalance between them through the gate?
I’m sorry but how do you know the 6D is safe , made in china?????👎
6D is made in America.
I haven’t seen any tests being done so how do I know it’s safe
Does this work with first generation Neotech II?
I do not know.
I’m that poor guy but your commentary is absolutely hilarious 😂😂😂 immediately subscribed keep making videos man!
Great video bro! I’ve just rebuilt my 2002 954 and also couldn’t find any info on this. A great help, thanks. 🙏
God just put it on the damn bike....all this yadda yadda yadda
😂 deep breath and relax. It’s gonna be ok. We all get anxiety at times.
U suck

Good stuff. Yes, a throttle body, and manifold is an important addition to the “Modified Stage II”. Along with the cam plate/pump/tappets/tappet cuffs/push rods/Timken bearing/Power Vision/ and of course a killer cam. I’m running a Woods 22XE on my 2020 Fat Boy and came to your video because I decided I should have added a manifold. I’m going follow my initial instincts this time and dump a Thunder Max on my Road Glide 107 to S&S 129 build. Please don’t edit out to much because each teaches what to do as well as what not to do. Great video! ET1(SS/SW/MTS) US Navy, Ret.
Great video Mate. I could not have installed my system without your video explanation. Well done and thanks. Cooee from Australia. Ride safe.
How did you get those cheek pads on so easily? I have been trying for like an hour and cannot for the life of me get them fitted
Start at the back or rear most mounting point and go forward.
@@ontwowheels6479 Yeah, I finally got it after trying that method for about an hour.. I dunno why, it was very stubborn!
How the heck do you not have more views on this. I too have a Shoei 1400 and a NEOTEC II. I'm always looking for a alternative to Shoei just so i'm not a Shoei fan boy. My local shop guy sells 6d and told me about how they are part of the nfl helmet make. You kinda made it look cheap at a expensive price. I think im going to try the Arai. Cheers and great video.
Thank you for your kind words. After riding with the 6D for an entire season I still maintain that it is not a bad helmet but I probably won’t buy another one. Thanks and safe riding to you.
Weird comment from BretGash but anyway. I like this comparison I'm a Shoei guy but have always been interested in the 6D's tech. It's hard to beat Shoei in terms of quality they just make great helmets period. I picked up a 6D for the first time at a local store and didn't think they felt too bad in terms of quality, But I didn't compare them directly to Shoei. In terms of safety it seems hard to dispute something that can soften the impacts like that. Snell seems a bit outdated and too hard in terms of what leads to concussions. Have you been using both?
I retired my Shoei as it’s over 6 years old. I buy a new lid every 6 years no matter what. The 6d is not horrible but unless they improve or lower their prices I won’t buy another one. The one thing I cannot stand is the visor on it. To me, the visor is just unacceptable. Pretty much in agreement with you! Glad the video was helpful.
Yeah you're right the price is steep. Even on sale you're looking at 600 bucks give or take for the 6D. I hope Shoei does something similar in terms of impact technology maybe the MEDS system they have for the offroad helmet can trickle its way into the street side. Then we'll have the best of both worlds and almost a no brainer no pun. Thanks bro !!!@@ontwowheels6479
Visor is rubbish.
Sounds to me that because the 6D wasn't just like the SHOEI that it's not as good. Your next helmet should ve a SHOEI
Ok.
New phones and other devices require updates for compatibility and occasionally a new feature or two could be nice
Could you tell me the torque value on the 3 throttle body screws? Thanks
Sound quality after the faff of install is impressive though :).
Just fitted this kit to my gt-air2. Absolute pain in the arse getting the mesh antennae inserted into the lid. Trying to cram it in on the left side was a nightmare as it just wouldn’t go between the inner and outer lid layers. Got it in there in the end though the wires got in the way of the cheek pads…. Faffed about but managed it in the end….
By far the best installation tutorial - thank you
What I'm trying to tell you is "it comes with some recycling". GOLD Thanks from Australia mate!
Most of it was pretty straight-forward but i wasn't grasping the antenna concept, even looking at Sena's installation diagrams. Your video helped me to figure it out so much thanks. And ride safe!
There is a tool in the box when you purchased the helmet.
I have a sportster. I ride 100% on surface roads. It’s been a blazing 115 ever day for the summer. I ride about 45 minutes home and I can feel the heat from the bike, the road and all the cars around me. I’ve got my helmet gloves backpack long sleeve shirt on. My bike rpms drop to 980. I ride it hard and yet to see overheated temperatures. I’ve gotten home and took temperatures with a laser temperature gun and and I took a food thermometer and stuck into the oil with engine shut off. Still at the operating temperature you should see. If you run it too cool you will tell the ecm to put more fuel in to get it warmer temperature. Bore wash incurrs
The factory fan won’t turn on until oil reaches operating temperature. This fan is more designed for stop and go city traffic.
Needs a set of tab mufflers Go for the medium baffle if u don’t want it too loud but will come up some when u get on it Has deeper tone than the zombie baffle I just did the 447 SE cam 2 weeks ago. I’m actually blown away (low expectations from the SEPST and mild cam and catted head pipes .. first new bike wanted to keep Warranty on SOMETHING) How much power u make ? My 107 did 93hp/111tq
thanks for the install video, I wasn't sure about getting this unit for mostly music since I don't really make calls while riding and since its kinda pricey but I think its almost a shame not to get it when the helmet was designed so perfectly to incorporate it. Plus, I don't really like when helmets have the little Bluetooth jawbone device, seems super dated and too much like cab drivers who always have an ear piece in haha
Does siri work with the sena?
It does. I don’t know how to activate Siri from the headset but if I activate Siri from my phone I can say stuff like play music and it works.
Without an oil temp gauge how do you know its any better?
I have the oil temp dip stick. It helped, minimally, but it did help.
Did u have to retune after install
Yes but I already had the screamin eagle tuner. I probably could have gotten away with not tuning for a while. It’s a minimal change but I do believe it has more power than it did based on feel.
My Helmet Sena unit does not have that dongle, it just uses a micro usb.
Interesting. Is it a different model?
@@ontwowheels6479 I've had it for 3 years perhaps that dongle is an addition or revision.
Thanks for the video, it is very useful. How is the audio quality of the mic? Can the others hear you well? Does it work with Cardo system? Can you use it to record audio on your phone?
Thank you for very straightforward installation tips!
