Re-imagining the Flawford Virgin
This 10 min film gives an in-depth description of a scientific investigation by the ISAAC heritage science unit at Nottingham Trent University into the story behind the Flawford Virgin, a C 14th alabaster sculpture housed at Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery. It explains some of the scientific techniques used to investigate the sculpture and reveals previously unknown aspects of the sculptures story.

it's believed by historians that the edward2/ red hot poker story is not true
Two hundred years since he died (1824 to 2024)... from Doris Langley Moore's bio of Ada, on her second visit to her father's ancestral home, "...My first and very melancholy impressions at Newstead, gradually changed to quite an affection for the place before I left it. I began to feel as if it were an old home, --& I left it with regret & reluctance,--I & I feel that I must go back to it before a year is over. .." Thank you for this sensitive and respectful history of the Abbey and the monument it is to George Gordon Lord Byron.
