I wanted to do a run of IR and fired it up the other day and had to quit a few hours in. When I have to go bankrupt and get corrupt just to make a friend so that he doesn't raise an army and destroy me - in other words, just to play the game - something is wrong. I wish they had made some of these systems better balanced, like EU4. When the estates are powerful, you get benefits BUT keeping them happy is then more important. When the estates are week and you have absolutism, you get super powerful, but before that you get fewer benefits and they'll basically just squabble over land. I'm not saying it's perfect but there's a benefit AND a cost to every choice. IR feels like only costs just to contend with an annoying mechanic. The family mechanic could have been really fun, but alas ...

On the bright side, you must be getting a lot of military tradition xp or however it was called

to ensure provincial loyalty you need: -culture happiness innovations -buildings increasing loyalty like courts and theaters -importing goods improving happiness -integrating cultures and giving them various rights -above 50 stability -enough food in province

I saw you're looking for a spouse for your kids in other kingdoms. You can't arrange royal marriages via the diplomacy window but you have to manually search the royal family of the other kingdom for free matches (best you klick on the King to get to his relatives). If you find one fitting character use the royal wedding button in the character interaction. Once both characters hit 12 you also can engage them. It won't show you that the characters are engaged but they will marry automatically if both are over 16 (even if the ai merrys their children off to someone else in the meantime)
