Catching Yabbies in Bendigo. Is this the PERFECT Dam for Yabbying?
มุมมอง 2.4K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
Is this the fastest yabby catch ever? Lol! Basically drag netted the first yabby with an open top net! This was my first time out yabbying in ages, needed a new dam and managed to find one absolutely full of yabbies. Baited up 5 open top lift nets and caught plenty of bait yabbies to take on our next fishing adventures, there was even a handful large enough for a feed. For yabby bait I used som...

@@XildFN :)
YO MARTY THATS MY DAD
@@XildFN hahaha! We’ll have to get him in more mate ;)
Well done Marty, been tough going but we should be in for good summer.
Thanks Grazza! That’s it mate, bring on the warm weather!
Nice one 👍 doing better than me. Yellas have been hard to come by at Eppalock
Thanks mate, yeah absolutely took me by surprise, I thought we were just getting mucked around by all the little reddies.
You need a boat to get out there and catch the fish ok 👍👍👍👍
I’m sure it would be easier in a boat ;) thanks for the comment mate!
Well done. They seem to be hard to come by. The water still looks pretty clear
@@brentonclarke Cheers mate, yeah we managed to catch a few in a few different spots last weekend. Very clear water!
i've had several yabby farms and a trap in the middle of the dam would not catch many crays --traps were always near the banks worked best
@@johnmerton3630 Yeah nice! That makes sense, thanks for the comment mate.
amazes me why people bother with murray crays .A lot of effort for very little meat
You’re not wrong mate, bloody good fun catching them though, cheers!
Nice one! I assume this was back in August? 😉
@@lestabithasadventures Thanks mate, yes sure was, on the last weekend of cray season :)
Great vid again mate! Good to see Pux!
@@rhoffy101 Thanks mate, yeah he’s good value haha
Hey man what dam is this in Bendigo
I’ll be heading back out there soon, I’ll try and drop some clues as to where it is so you can find it. Thanks for commenting man.
@@Cod_Catcher send me a message could go out together man
That was a good watch. Happy you ended up with at least 1 keeper.
Thanks mate, went back for more action before the season closed, new video dropping very soon, thanks for the comment.
Nephew & the boys went to murryriver via melb late 90s brought me home 1 huge redish female cray put in the huge 41/2ft x2ft 8mm thick glass fish tank i made a year prior She wud jump at the glass when you passed L8tr sold it to a pet shop in dandy for $25 he sold it $180 wtf If i ever caught one again i'd keep it in my bedroom to watch min water a few rocks & tree logs all u need
They’re unreal beasts, I get a kick out of seeing the kids faces when we pull the nets in, there’s a moment of excitement then it changes to pure fear when I tell them to pick it up ;) thanks heaps for the comment mate
That female cray was AWESOME!! That would have made my week catching it!! Totally cool!! Fantastic release - well done!! - your channel is going to be very successful - thats a fact!! From New Zealand.
Good on you for explaining about releasing females with eggs!! Your a good guy mate - keep it up!! From New Zealand.
Hi again. Just a quick tip that comes in handy in New Zealand. Pre-soak your bait in fish oil. It really does work.
I’ll have to give that a try mate, thanks heaps for the comments, means the world.
Good on you - really good video!! From New Zealand. (I like the reference to Robbie!!)
Haha nothing quite like an impatient check ;)
Throw her in, the eggs will not disslodge. Mountain out of a mole hill...lol.
G day mate is there any boat ramps were you are good onya mate😊😊😊
Hey mate, I’m honestly not sure, there were none at the spot I was at, but I’m fairly sure there is one at Toolamba.
One legal cray ,12 pieces off chicken,um I think you will get more off a feed from the chicken 😂🤪👍🏻🇦🇺🐗 that’s fishing
Hahaha valid point, you’re not wrong! But it sure was bloody good fun ;)
Very ordinary
hey bud just a tip for ya with ya nets why they keep flipping is the 3 line need to be spaced evenly apart and if they ain't when your pulling them in they can flip. I've been trying to send ya a msg but not sure how.. I got a ripper of a fishing spot up that way for ya that never disappoints.. 🤙
@@brendanpower9060 Mate, that makes perfect sense too, really appreciate the tip. Would love to hear about your spot, feel free to msg me on FB: facebook.com/share/CDbB7cEtEZLtuLX7/?mibextid=LQQJ4d
@@Cod_Catcher hey mate I sent you a msg on face book under Brendan Geoffrey 🤙 left my number if ya need to call
We need the blooper reel too haha!!!! Yay for a successful catch!! :)
Hahaha! You never know, maybe..
Small cable tie either side of each rop and then dotted around the top and base wire stops the slip and reduces tangles, but we have been loving the wire base nets less snags and so much easier to throw out without the tangles 🤣
Now that’s a pro tip!! Yes the wire base nets are absolutely the better net, thanks heaps for the comment and suggestion!
Awesome, or should I say, clawsome!
Thanks mate, definitely clawsome!!!
Yeah first one looks like a trout cod. I’ve not caught many myself and only a few myself. Water looked pretty low
I don't think I've ever caught one, at least not that I've realised. Very low, boat ramp out of the water a long way. Bloke beside us cast his rod out and caught a yella within 30 seconds of arriving, only a couple minutes later we got these 2, and then nothing more for the next hour lol
Where is this on the lake am a local fisherman
Snacklebox!!
Very tasty snacklebox, prepared by Mrs CodCatcher.
It did not look to busy out there, weather must have put a few people off?
This was on Easter Monday, yep the threat of rain must have scared off most people. There was only a couple other boats out there.
Nice work mate well done... Super cool that the kids love it❤️🙏💪
Thanks heaps mate, spot on, I've got to do some more on it soon ;)
nice video brother! good spot ;)
Haha spot on mate, you inspired me to try it out ;)
Nice. I have not fished Weeroona for a long time but only ever used to catch small carp and goldfish
Yeah I’ll definitely be going back soon.. try and get onto more reddies in there
An absolute belter of a setup bloke looks awesome can't wait for you to finish it off.👍👍👍
Thanks heaps legend! It’s going to be a lot of fun when it’s done, cheers for the sub too ;)
Looks like it will be a good setup once finished
I’ll be able to get my tinny out the lake now too finally haha
It needs a sink!!! :)
Haha yes, yes it does.
Looked like a great way to spend the afternoon
Spot on mate, perfect afternoon for a swim and a fish
Sweet. Bit of fresh water coming down at the moment, has freshened it up and seems to have livened the fishing up again.
Yeah the fishing was pretty good out there, water levels gone up in last couple days too
Nice one Marty. Looked like a nice weekend to be down on the river in a kayak
Thanks mate! Unreal weekend on the river, very hot, but the water temp was spot on for a swim too.
Nice one. Looked like a nice night for a fish
Any nights a great night for a fish ;)
love to see when young mate said "Dad help please" You were like "No Way It's all yours" 😆😆😆
Hahaha gotta let them do it on their own, best learning ;)
Seems to be a lot more carp around now after the floods. Good to see them getting removed from the river
Absolutely! Luckily it keeps the kids entertained.
Xmas rods a weapon
It’s getting all the fish hahah!
Nice one. There sure seem to be a lot of carp around at Eppalock at the moment
Absolutely! Ahh well, they’re great fun for the kids ;)
Boring
Haha thanks for the comment mate! Will do better 😅
Didn't see the esky on my door step 😅
Haha I’ll get you some next time ;)
Nice to see some action around the local area! Well done mate
Thanks mate, cheers for the comment :)
Nice cod there. I’m yet to catch one this season and thinking I might have to head over that way to catch one as had no luck so far
Thanks Brenton! I watch your channel often mate! I’ll be keeping an eye out for when you do get one on the board. Thanks for the comment :)
3 rods inland aye
Kids fishing with me, thanks for comment though :)
Good pick up @umdaustralia7161. No sign of kids, not even background voices, or footsteps, no extra shadows. Even when he caught the fish no one came over. Probably going to use 10 opera house nets for his yabbying session as well :) Was a nice side reddy though
Love the detective work lads, I 100% have my 7 year old with me, I do try to keep my kids out of the clips, all of the non GoPro footage is shot by her check out around the 12:10 minute mark ;) don’t get me wrong, always happy to see people calling out incorrect methods, thanks for commenting. Subscribe 😊 it was a nice size reddie!
