Great information, what do you use to prepare the kit for the paint. Meaning do you use a primer? Also what do you use to seal the paint.
The sealant should be listed in the video. I also have another video going over varnish products if you want to check that out. No, acrylic sits beautifully on blank vinyl, there is no need to prime a kit unless it's damaged from, say stripping for instance. Then it helps. If it's a fresh kit it shouldn't need to be primed with anything. Just make sure to wash the kit well with a gentle dish detergent and scrub gently to remove any residue, which will give you issues if you don't. Hope that helps!

Hi there, very informative video! I do have a question regarding how you manage to keep dust/brush bristles/paint flecks/etc off of your dolls during the painting process? It seems as though I've tried everything under the sun and can't seem to get rid of this issue.. I don't work in a particularly dusty area, so any help would be much appreciated! ❤
I change them out often. I also soak them well after using them, then letting them dry. But overall they are cheap enough to just replace when they start to give you issues. Hope that helps!

Hello I find when I'm rooting hair to use the finger covers with a plain needle to go around the outside of the ears. Is so much easier than trying to use a plane needle

Hi Jen. Such beautiful dolls & very informative video. Thank you. Can you please tell me what or if you prime your kits with before you start painting, so the paint will stick. I’ve heard some people use Golden matte medium. I hope my dolls end up looking like yours 👍🏻
I usually do not, unless the kit looks like it might give me issues in some places. If I do prime, it's with something that will stay put, so that would be the varnish I prefer, folk art outdoor Matte. I have had other things pull up when varnishing, so I'll only use that personally. I haven't used that specific brand though. If you do use it, make sure it sits to completely dry so you don't have any paint pulling up 😊

Your Marcus looks amazing i love the skintone he have very realistic 🥰 .Do you always us pink for crease and blushing ? When i mix i do most of the time 3 table spoons of water 2 drops Jo Sonja Activator and one brush stroke of paint ? Is that oke ?I also have Jo Sonja thinning medium but i do not use that
I use purple and reds for creasing and blushing. I use quite a bit of water, probably 3/4 of my mix is water no matter how much I mix up.

Thank you i wil go look for that medium Mayby the one i have is no good I also have the Golden satin glazing liquid but that is more for slow dry of the paint i think I have found on Amazon nl one the Mont Marte acrylic flow medium 500 ml that cost 21,00 euro ? I am trying to pick up as many tips and techniques I can that might help me along the way. I was wondering what is the ratio of paint to medium to water that you use when you mix your colors.

Hi, Jen!👋After I got Duante (Gounchin) which is the one I sent you photos of I bought DecoArt, DuraClear, Ultra Matte Varnish but I haven't even opened it. After watching this video and one of your other ones I am going to buy the FolkArt, Outdoor, Matte Varnish and attempt to seal him myself. I have some pretty brown, glass eyes to replace his cracked ones but that is something I don't know if I could do.
That will help your little guy a lot! It is a pain to redo the eyes sometimes but if you need any help shoot me a message I have picked up a few tips on getting them out easier!
I would use American Decor or the folkart varnish? Not both correct?
You could use both, but I generally just use one!

SORRY CELL PROBLEM S. I PAINTED MY FIRST BABY GIGGLE'S HE CAME OUT WONDERFUL EXCEPT FOR THE SEALER, THE NAME IS AMERICANA DECOR, I SEALED IT AT THE END AND WHEN IT WAS ALL. DRY I JUST USED A BABY WIPE THOUGHT I WAS CLEANING IT WELL ALL 5HE SEAL CAME OFF. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. WHAT SEALER IS THE BEST WHERE IT DON'T COME OFF? I CAN'T FIND GLASS AND TILE ANYWHERE. HELP!

do you add water to your acrylic paint
Yes, I always add water and a medium. You can substitute a bit of finish/varnish if you run out of medium but it'll be a lot thicker so you'll need to make sure to keep it thin with water.
