How hard is it to find these motors and how much to build it up to 600 ish hp? Looking for a project
It's not impossible to find them but they are few and far between these days. If you're in the states just look for an AAN out of a C4 S4 or S6. 600hp is pretty easy to make out of them but you'll obviously have to do a full build and head work because the stock heads dont flow very well. Ballpark would probably be very roughly $10k for a motor and everything to get you to 600hp but that will be a reliable 600hp. Quatteo4Life on here has a pretty detailed explanation on his build as well as a "budget build".
There is a durch company that rebuilds the s1 quattros but they are expensive. They Use a 5 cylinder Diesel as a Base and can get Up to 1300 HP
Well some tuned them to 1470hp. 600 is pretty easy with thw 20V Turbo. Just maybe put some better pistons and connection rods in it

You forgot that the piston can have a different diameter, it can have a shorter stroke, a different r/s ratio, and a slightly different closing and opening time of the intake and exhaust valves.
