Thank you for these videos. I just found out about the course on reddit. Will probably be joining in one of the next courses. Are there any hardware min requirements?
Really nice video thank you !
Love you Livia! Snori lives through his repo, long live his legacy! Long live his supporters!
Thank you for this informative video and tutorial. I'm using a Mac with a M2 chip. I replaced using Virtual Box with VMware Fusion Pro (personal use is free) and an ARM install of Ubuntu. I'm a noob and found this video very helpful for that install: th-cam.com/video/kDosGTdwqO0/w-d-xo.html (while watching your walk-through of the Ubuntu server install and use). Thanks again!
late to the party but maybe this will help someone. From day0, i created AWS ubuntu server, i didnt recall creating a password, so i didnt know what the current password was. with some googlefoo I learn that u could sudo passwd root and gave me the option to create a new root password
Just wanted to stop and appreciate your Linux course. It is exciting and thought-provoking. Thank you very much! Pure gold!
SOLVE BELOW: I feel like I'm losing my mind. Last week, apache2 was running fine, this week, apache2 is unable to suddenly read basic html, my aws port 80 is closed (even with editing security groups, trying to open it with ufw and netstat to listen but I 80 is completely blocked off). This is weird, since literally last week everything was fine. I want to blame it on crowdstrike, but I don't think that an ubuntu aws server would be affected by the outage almost a week later. Any and all advice is appreciated so I can get back on track. Edit: I just used ss -na | grep :4000 to check and see if I can open port 4000 (yes), however this failed with port 80. edit with solve: purged apache, restarted server, reinstalled apache2, did full-upgrade
Finished viewing n enjoyed it

Im getting the flow
Just arrived binge watching😂
when I try to copy the pub key to the server I am getting the message denied public key.
I was able to remote to the ubuntu server on AWS from my windows laptop using putty with out any issues. Now I want remote to the ubuntu server from my linux terminal on a virtual machine that I have installed on my laptop. When I try I get the message "permission denied public key". If someone can explain to me how to do it correctly. thank you
Interesting. Thank you very much, Livia!
Very happy to find your Linux Challenge, I love it and learning a lot <3
thanks so much for this!
you are a legend Livia, thank you
Hey this may be super late, I found out your video and challanges on reddit. Love them. Any chance that you could go further and explain more about networking with NGINX and reverse proxy stuff ? Maybe a web gateway and stuff like that?
boy this was so awesome , i made a server for first time! felt great. Thanks for the content Livia.Just a quick question: I have an old dell laptop with 4 gb ram just lying around ; could i use t for a server instead of virtual machine?
of course, you could.
@@ekeretteekpo3004 thanks for the assist homie 👊👍
You are awesome, Livia! 🙌
trick with !! is my favorite one, KUDOS for you @livia2lima
For any version of Windows after Windows 10, you don't need Putty. You can connect to the instance from the command prompt directly using the SSH command - "ssh -i <the path for the .pem key you downloaded> ubuntu@<IP address of the instance>" Et voila, you'll be connected to the instance.
Love that CRT monitor behind you! Nostalgia <3
My gosh...how do you not have more subscribers? Your Linux videos are pure gold! I currently have a years worth of Linux systems administration, and it's been difficult porting over from using Windows through my entire IT career, but I'm getting better. I've found your videos so helpful, and I can only imagine others would echo the same. Please continue to make more content. You have such a fun and quirky personality, and I would love to continue learning more Linux from you as you're a very talented instructor. Thank you again for all your hard work, Livia! I instantly subscribed after your first training video :)
Amazon changed their layout and now i am nt able to follow using this video. Any updates?
Yeah, they do that from time to time.... There's a live stream I did earlier this year that may help: th-cam.com/users/live_-6UYOjRIVQ
Hey can you make a video how can a newbie make script (dont know anything about programming) 0 knowledge:(
We actually touch a little bit of shell script in Day 20: th-cam.com/video/G7GyMuyauVk/w-d-xo.html
This is really great! Sad i missed the life stream, but super happy this in on YT! Happy krishk had the same issue with tldr --update at the end, as I had the exact same issue as I followed along with you. Hope to catch the next live stream and thank you so much for spending the time to do these streams! This is by far the best way to learn the basics of linux that I've ever found! p.s. i tried joining the discord, but had some issue with the verification. I asked for help In the open-tickets channel. Thanks again for your super helpful and free resources! :)

This video was awesome, great walk though.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!

This is more than a course Livia. Thanks for this.
Thx Livia
Thank you! I set up this up with Azure. How do I find out the root password? I try to become root but I don't remember there's a password.
By default, the root account is disabled in Ubuntu, specially in a cloud provider like Azure. The usage of 'sudo' users like ubuntu or azureuser is preferred for security reasons. You can enable it, but is not really recommended. This forum answer said it better than I could: askubuntu.com/questions/44418/how-to-enable-root-login

Thanks for the timestamps! I've put the chapters up.
nice
cd ~ is equal to cd $HOME cd - is equal to cd $OLDPWD cd .. is equal to cd $...?
Actually, the '..' in 'cd ..' is processed by removing the immediately previous pathname component back to a slash or the beginning of directory. That can involve CDPATH when it's available, but by default the command cd will follow symbolic links like '..' and jump up to the directory above the current dir.
nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
TLDR just changed my whole world, thank you for this knowledge!!!
I know, right! Such a cool tool.
Thank you Livia for your efforts!
Thanks for watching!
not gonna lie, for 2 years I thought ufw meant ubuntu firewall
not so "uncomplicated", eh? 🤣
Great informative video!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
Thx Livia for your content! I think you are the best for Linux imo 💎
Awww, thanks Oceano! ❤️

Thanks!
I am genuinely not sure why it is so, but during those fast forward sequences when I see you drinking coffee (or tea?) I get the biggest smile. I am very excited to try this out.
