A group of old buggers throwing themselves down mountain bike trails and seeing if they survive... To aid in this, we use e-bikes to conquer the climbs.

As long as you are not bitter about the timing.🤔 Am down this long weekend.
@@bestdayevermtb2 lucky I’m a forgiving type of guy…. Ok, keep in touch 👍
That's so good, I just keep watching it.
It’s a classic in the making aye.
@@seniorsone5066 for sure
Chur bro. Coastie.
Silky smooth pass. How good!! 🙌😎🤙
You nailed those sweet as.
Cheers mate, had been too long since we’d hit these.
@seniorsone5066 yip, I was thinking doing them instead of LAM next time
Gunna gotta is such a crowd pleaser. Really enjoyed it. You are keeping up with Wazza on it nicely.😎🤙
@@EMTBNZ yeah it is!! Haha I think he’s just cruising… 😃
Awesome Tony, you are on form & looking fast as. Love the “Wazza cam”. Good luck for the weekend! 🙌😎🤙
@@EMTBNZ cheers mate, yeah looking forward to the weekend, you should’ve entered!!!
Nice
Nice
Lightning fast ⚡️🚵♂️💨
Haha cheers, need to keep up with you lads 🥵
Geez those Focus's sound like a bucket of bolts compared to my Whyte 180 😉
@@roadracer42 The ol’ e180 is a great bike 👍
Yeah Boi! Storm Tropper. Sorry I missed that ride, but those jumps ain't going nowhere. Need to do a session day there again soon.
@@jeremybarber4693 all good mate, we missed you. Yeah we’ll do it again for sure, not sure why we never did them in the past!? Haha.
We need to be derestricted to get the speed to clear those jumps?
@@claytonprice7833 nope, not at all. Let gravity do it thing 🤙
Yeah, wazza restricted and possibly in eco too😅
Well done on Stormtrooper. Those jumps are huge. Solid effort on that scary gap! Loved the wazza cam too! 🙌😎👍🫶
@@EMTBNZ cheers mate, looks nothing on GoPro but that step up has some size to it haha
@@seniorsone5066 100% agree, it is huge in real life!
I think I need a tow in to storm trooper. Never spent any time there.
@@bestdayevermtb2 you’ll hit them no problem at all!!! Worth a look, they are in the process of tidying them up at the moment.
Like the new intro music
@@SaundyB cheers, a constant work in progress 😂
Nice vid guys… nice trail.
@@timscarman4599 cheers, thanks for watching 🤙
Nice one Tony! Shame the bad weather rolled in for your ride. 🌧️ Good to see you made the most of it though. It makes the lower grade trails super exciting 😎🙌
@@EMTBNZ cheers mate, I think that was the wettest ride I’ve ever done haha. Yeah, the conditions can turn a grade 2 into grade 4 😂
nice bro which way you peeps go after k2?
Cheers mate, cut out to the road and up to the the water station before heading up Direct Road 🥵
It's changed heaps since this video aye
Yeah, could do with a tickle up aye.
Man you were carrying such good pace the whole way! That Taniwha line was nuts! Especially in the wet! Well done 😎🤙🫶
Cheers mate, had Warren breathing down my neck 😂
Awesome video 🚵♂️🤙
@@deafmtbnz7063 cheers buddy 🤙
Is that the new grade 3 they have just made?
@@bestdayevermtb2 yep that’s it, the new G3 Flow trail… 🙃
Wicked mate. You make it look easy! But clearly it is not. 🙌😎🤙
@@EMTBNZ cheers mate there was arms and legs going in all directions at times 😅
@@seniorsone5066 Haha I couldn’t tell at all. You were getting those dropping corners nicely. Sheesh that’s steep!
Massive 35 people 🎉nice
@@theziggyg yeah mate, you and the crew will have to come and join us for one 🤙
Sounds like a plan 👍🏼
Thanks again Tony. It really was an epic days riding. Well done organising it. Worked out flawlessly. Apart from the camera getting taken out. Good stuff Jeremy and Warren for helping out. Cheers for the mention. Look forward to the next one 😎🤙
@@EMTBNZ thanks mate, no problem at all. Good to see you guys there 🤙. Yeah I didn’t get much footage at all unfortunately, quite busy keeping everyone going in the same direction 😅
Looks like fun, might have to join in one day.
@@bestdayevermtb2 they are a tonne of fun, you should definitely join in on one 👍
Hey Tony how are you finding riding clipless .I'm thinking of doing the same thing.I find my feet do move around alot and sometimes slip off the pedals. Are you pleased that you persevered?I guessing it's all about getting through the intial few rides when you're thinking what have I done.My fear is being attached to the bike on a moment like 2.30mins.Did you just naturally unclip then or was it more luck than anything 😁
Hey mate, thanks for the question. It’s been one of the best things I’ve done to improve my riding, I discuss it a bit in my latest vid (where to ride in the wet). I feel more in control being clipped in now, and more relaxed as I don’t have to worry about my feet placement or slipping off. Yes, it is a concern that there will be times that you may not unclip in time, this happens!!! I do run the crank bros easy release cleat. But in my experience and seeing others this mostly happens at very low speed and it’s more of a tip over as opposed to the cause of a full on crash. Interesting enough I’ve had way more scary moments with my feet slipping off at high speeds. I’m not going to lie, I found it very uncomfortable and challenging to start with and simply couldn’t ride fast, now I’m faster than I was on flats. It’s has taken about 2 months to get to this point. I’ll still keep my flats for those stupid steep may need to eject at any time rides (Anxiety).
Oh sorry, to answer your question re: 2:30. My motor got hung up on that root in a rather precarious position and yes I seemed to unclip without realising it. I do practice unclipping and clipping back in as I ride. The Crank Brothers Mallet DH pedals are good for this as they provide a large platform to rest on if you’re not clipped in. If it’s looking super dodgy in front of me I’ll unclip and ride that section as if I’m on flats.
@@seniorsone5066 Nice thanks for the reply.I'm going to get the same set up you have.I like the idea being able to unclip and still have a good platform to stand on.
I rewatched "riding in the wet" some good advise there. I enjoy watching all your vids.Being in Auckland I only visit Vegas every 6 weeks or so.Jealous of the people that live close by. One more question. Are the pedal you bought LS or standard? Cheers Chris
Cheers mate appreciate it 🤙. Standard not SL 👍
Nice riding in those conditions. I don’t think I could go that fast in the dry. Looking forward to the next one 🙌😎🫶
Cheers mate 🤙. Hopefully see you Saturday!!
I think you missed a lens wipe. It is a shame I missed all the wet rides in NZ and it will only be dry for the rest of the year.🤔
@@bestdayevermtb2 😂. You haven’t missed much that’s for sure. Yes, we’re preparing the weather for your arrival home 🫡. Should be prime in a couple of weeks. I’m not sure you’ll want to ride with us mere mortals after the World Cup tracks you’ve been riding for the last couple of months 😃
@seniorsone5066 After all the tracks I have ridden, I am still worried about Anxiety.
Great, Lance has jinxed us now. It’s going to be the wettest summer ever now.
@@lemonadejars I have done that before
@@bestdayevermtb2 I remember!
Are you using the direct mount GX T Type? I have the same bike and am wondering if it’s compatible with the frame?
@@itsgaro no, this isn’t a the previous version. I believe T type will fit though.
That’s a grade 4 not a 5 we’ll not yet atleast 😂
@@GraysMTBNZ haha oh thanks, I thought it was a 5. It scares me like a 5 😂
@@seniorsone5066 that one’s great fun 😊
Nice run down there mate! The bike rattled a bit on that one. 😎👍🙌
@@EMTBNZ haha thanks, I need to show the o’l girl some love and sort those rattles 😀
Yip, Jono at Suspension Lab is the guy to go to, for sure!
Awesome video Tony! Wicked riding! You were hitting everything with mean pace. Great to hear about Rodney too. That’s some sort of miracle 🙌😀🤙
@@EMTBNZ cheers mate. Yeah, starting to gel with being clipped in 😅. He’s so bloody lucky!! Can’t wait to see him back out there 💪
@@seniorsone5066 yeah mate I can tell. Looking Smooth as down the chunk. Yes, no doubt he will be back into it as soon as 😎🙌
Thanks for the update on Rodney’s injury. Glad to hear he has kept his eye. Wishing him all the best on the rest of his recovery!
@@NZMtbGuy no problem, yeah pretty amazing outcome given the injury. He’s a trooper 💪
Looks like a new track for me to check out. One question. What type of rocks is the track made up off. Didn't recognize all that brown stuff?
@@bestdayevermtb2 It’s actually an epic trail, you’ll flow down it with your vast experience of World Cup tracks under your belt. I believe the “rock” is a type of siliciclastic sedimentary rock that turns to poo 💩 when wet…
@seniorsone5066 looking forward to it.
Nice work Tony!
@@grahamplowman3126 cheers, was a little touch and go in places 😅
I tried the other weekend but front brake lever snapped and had to walk down the 2nd half in the wet 😂
@@GraysMTBNZ don’t blame you, not a trail I’d try without having 💯 braking power available 😬
Awesome job getting down that one in those conditions mate. That was sketchy! 🙌😎🤙
Cheers mate, yeah was a bit of fun that’s for sure
How's Rodney?
@@wayneharris9394 Doing OK, I’ll post a vid later this week with an update. He’s in for a knee operation at the moment... Thanks for asking.
Looking good, keep at it, are you gearing up for the Whaka 50 E-bike class??
@@SaundyB cheers. Haha no, maybe I should though…
@@seniorsone5066 my Brother in law is doing it, we rode 75 kms around the forest over 2 days, last Tuesday Wednesday, the course doesn’t really enthuse me so I’m not going to do it, not enough downhill haha, I’ve just got back from 2 weeks in Rotorua, I rode the forest about 10 days total, it was awsome, looking forward to the nxt trip there
5:30 , bicycle problems ? Not unusual . A lot of second hand ebikes on classified sites at the moment that are slow to sell .
I got a e 180 rs v3 2022 you think i should upgrade or leave it
I’d stick with what you’ve got mate, they’re a good bike 👍.
@seniorsone5066 thanks brother
How much elevation can you get out of the battery
I could get about 2000mtrs with battery left.
@@seniorsone5066 with the 625 watt only ?
@@seniorsone5066 with only the 625 watt battery ?
Sorry, just seen this now. No, on 625Wh I’d only get 1200ish mtrs
Seniors in most cycling events in Australia are considered 50 years of age and above . I am well into my 50's . I work on e-bikes /pedalecs and failures / incorrect functioning issues are more common than most people think . I pick up the failures and make money in repairs . I don't ordinarily ride them except for repair testing . I find their handling not the best . 20kg plus , forget it . They just aren't nimble enough for a person of my build on a day ride or "fondo" .
Nice 😎. I come from a motorbike background so don’t mind the weight.
@@seniorsone5066 There are many bicycle mechanics and workshops advertising that they service pedalecs and throttle electric bicycles . When I contact them , they tell me they don't service them . A bit odd .
Awesome smaller version of this epic group ride . I did watch Tom version of the video the other day which was 25 minutes. I definitely would have loved to gone out riding with you all just need to get myself an other bike. Definitely looking forward to seeing you on your next video
@@jeremyharris4415 cheers mate 🤙
Awesome video Tony. Wish it kept going longer. Cheers for the #tag. It was a really fun!
Cheers mate. Yeah unfortunately I was limited with footage due to one of my batteries clapping out 🙄
Awesome video man really enjoyed it. Hey how is friend getting on with his eye is he going to be able to keep it or not
@@jeremyharris4415 cheers mate 🤙. He’s doing remarkably well. He will keep the eye, talking to him day the chance of regaining vision is still 50/50. Unbelievably lucky given the injury. Thanks for asking. Have had loads of messages so will give an update in the next couple of vids, cheers 🤙
