Great job! Finally some convincing programming for Synchron Strings, brass and winds.
Nice work Hermann. The VSL libraries are great classic performances and thanks for sharing the Cubase project.
Hi Hermann. It's nice to hear from you again. Thank you for your opinion regarding my question. I was impressed by this statement (I decided to switch to full VSL because I can work with it faster and it is more flexible and therefore very precise. For classical music this is crucial, it would be a different story if I were making patterns for film compositions.) I believe that classical music MEETS soundtrack compositions, many directors who have made classical music a noteworthy aesthetic and cinematic device. Like Stanley Kubrick, he teaches, classical music, older and therefore always there waiting for someone to use it wisely. Without forgetting the musical genius of E. Morricone and J. Williams. Listening to your Mockup (Barber: Adagio for Strings Op. 11) where you used VSL strings and OT Berlin strings, in my humble opinion yes for both musical genres. It's not bad at all!!! I had the opportunity to listen to other Mockups (Barber: Adagio for Strings Op. 11) on TH-cam and to my ear they seemed too cold compared to your interpretation. My personal opinion. Best Regards.
Hi Hermann. It is a great pleasure to see you again in publishing and sharing these beautiful Mockups for Classical Music. I take this opportunity to ask you for your personal opinion, I would shortly intend to purchase the strings from Orchestrals Tools. I saw that you published as your first video on your TH-cam channel, the Mockup (Barber: Adagio for Strings Op. 11) in which you also use the Orchestrals Tools strings. In your opinion, how does it differ from the VSL strings, which you used to this Mockup and if you can share the project.cpr for Cubase. I thank you.
Hi Maurizio, your question is hard to answer... both companies sell top of the line products. I might be a bit biased as I live in Vienna. I decided to go full VSL because I can work with it faster and it is more flexible and so very precise. For classical music this is key, it would be a different story if I was doing mockups for movie compositions. From a sound point of view, I think that it was easier to get a warm sound out of the Orchestral Tool Berlin libraries wheres VSL is more on the bright side. On the other hand, the VSL libraries provide you with so many microphone signals, it is purely a question of audio engineering skills to make both sound good. To be honest, I am generally blown away what professionals can get out of these sample libraries. I love to listen to everything Guy Bacos does or Jay Bacal on the VSL youtube channel. And on the other hand, if you hear how Ann-Kathrin Dern can make the Berlin Series sound here th-cam.com/video/GxXtHax7nX0/w-d-xo.html then I freeze in awe, too. From a software perspecive, the Synchron Player from VSL is the best there can be. Period. Specifically with Cubase and Expression maps I think it is so good, unbeatable. The Sine Player is good and rock-stable too, but it has only a small subset of the features. If you need to tweak to get something sound right, you might have more possibilities with the Synchron Series. But I have also already encountered parts where I am too stupid to get them to sound halfway decent :) So, in the end I would say it depends - as everything in life. Best, Hermann
Forgot to answer your second question. I am sorry, I decided to not publish the old cubase projects because they were really bad. Will redo them with VSL synchron in the future and then provide the cubase projects for download
Good! I really like the timbre thanks to the layers you created. I also made a version, what do you think? th-cam.com/video/A-V48GUaYBU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Herman for sharing these wonderful mockups, for VSL libraries. Keep it up if you can... it's very helpful for a beginner to learn about these famous notes of serious classical music. I ask you, if you have the possibility to share the remaining Mockups, for those remaining videos that you have published in the past on your channel? Even in private, if you wish.
Thank you very much for your kind words Maurizio. I have added download links to more videos just now. Best, Hermann
Thank you so much Hermann, you are very kind in sharing your work, not everyone does. Much appreciated from me, if I can buy you a coffee or a beer, please provide your link... Finally I wanted to ask you, before opening the Cubase project, is it appropriate to open VEP7PRO first? Thanks again!
@@Maurizio-u4c Opening VE Pro first has the big advantage that the VE Pro Plugins in Cubase will automatically connect with the VE Pro instances. Starting the DAW first and VE Pro second will also work. It just requires one more manual step per instance. That's why I definitely always start VE Pro first (lazy as I am...).
Hi Hermann, I asked, why by first opening your VEP7PRO file, you are notified with the following message by a pop up which I report for information (the file you are trying to load is invalid or inaccessible) and this file is opened on VEP7PROStandalone, not on the VEP7PRO7 server, then, I decided to open my VEP7PRO server first and then open the Cubase project and connect to the instance of the server project. I saw and listened to the video of your Mockup (Mockup of Samuel Barber: Adagio for Strings) Great sound, sometimes you're shocked by how certain libraries impact the orchestration! Nice work Hermann, can you share it ?
Brilliant!
Great mockup!
Just as good as the real orchestra!
