Fantastic, love seeing these consoles in use. We have a JH636 as well at our studio. I'd love to chat with you about how you still have the VCA's working with the automation disconnected. We currently have the automation power turned off. Once the console is up to temp the automation/VCA's lock up when the power is on. Having the Auto/VCA power off works fine for tracking but makes mixing almost impossible.

Slipknot used to tour with a massive cadac and they’d wedge that thing into medium sized clubs, also had an engineer who’s ego was slightly larger 😅

This is one of the first consoles i worked on in Nashville in 1989. Im still chasing the massive weight this thing added to the mix. Thanks for posting this. brought back so many memories. I think this console is part of my lowend DNA. Im still chasing the sound of this classic console. I dont think this console gets the love it should. If i had the room this would me my first pick.. Be safe.. thanks again...

Lovely collection! With a tiny piece of twisty tie that's probably holding together a power supply cable somewhere - you can thread that through the button on the MD421 and reversibly but permanently defeat it - ain't going nowhere!
