Im an LVN and I am in the second semester of the transition to RN. I’ve quit 2 LVN jobs in SNF in the last 2 months and I am now working as a phlebotomist in a hospital to support myself while I finish my degree. I do not have any plan to have a conventional RN job, I plan to work in an office or a from home, and I pray I don’t have the same feelings towards the profession 🙏🏽

I just quit in under 2 years as a nurse. Its ridiculous how much stress the job causes you. And theres so many nurses quitting that everyone is brand new and im the most senior most nights, again under 2 years. I feel like i always get told what i do wrong and not what i do right. Everything feels so unsafe... not to mention alcoholics and drug abusers that i have to take being a male nurse

I’m not sure if you’ll see this, since it’s a year old video but I want to thank you so much for putting out this content, validating how I feel because I had a really bad day at work. Started as a CNA in high school then became a registered nurse then became a nurse practitioner, 30 years now and I am beyond burnt out. Every single RN friend I know is beyond burnt out we’re all leaving the profession in droves as are the physicians I’m friends with, equally burnt out. The common denominator is for profit medical mafia industry that just keeps getting bigger, the level of middle-management that I’ve seen bloom over the years is insane, not enough people to take care of the patients but plenty of bean counters. At some point this breaks I just don’t know when it is… my RN friend, whose mother baby unit just closed. Just got a job at Home Depot part-time 20 an hour. She’s happy she’s never gonna go back to Healthcare. I’m in the process of making my escape, but I’m scared to live a six figure salary.

I’ve seen two nurses that actually quit one went to work at Walmart and the other went to work in factory making significantly less money.

I was seriously saying how I was gonna go work in a flower shop or plant nursery something. Just something completely unrelated and way less stressful. Watering plants for money seems like a good trade off

I just took a leave of absence after 20 years of Nursing. I work at a small Surgery center, which had 3 RN'S, an XRay tech, One Surgical Scrub tech, and an Ultrasou d Tech to assist anesthesia with shoulder and knee blocks. We get low pay because we have a "flexible" schedule and no weekends or call. However, we have one RN who is 9 months pregnant and is on leave, another nurse quit to go back to school, and that left only me to do the work of all 3 of us. I probably would have tried to do it, but.... I told them for months, we needed to get more help. We knew our nurse was going to have her baby, & they did nothing. My Mom was in Assisted Living & her behaviors were so bad, she was asked to leave. Shes also in Hospice. Shes going to have to live with me. The other facilities wont take combative patients, and she cant afford $7,000-$13,000 per month to live there. I told my employers, eventually this was going to happen, and it did. Now they are pressuring me to work, after i e already told them, i cannot be in 2 places at once.They said they would "Post" my job. I said i understood. But now, i realize, when my Mom passes, things are never going to change. Im taking this time to figure out what to do next. Im 64 and have had 2 heart attacks in the ladt 2 years, & i have been expected to fulfill every role at work, including X-Ray and Iltrasound, neither of which im qualified for. Im just exhausted at this point.

Hi Nicole, I am so thankful that I stumbled upon your video. I am an NP, 68 y/o, just retired and going through a sort of identity/ life crisis. Earlier in my career as an RN I used to think that I would work even if I didn’t need to work, because being a nurse was so much a part of my identity. As years went on and I became an NP, my work life took on a new brand of torture. 13 h days in an ambulatory setting often extended to 15h, or more. There were times I went in to work at 7am, and didn’t leave until 10pm or later. In the past five years or longer, I thought working in a supermarket would be preferable to this! However, needing the salary kept me in that unending nightmare until this past March when I finally threw in the towel and decided to retire. I feel a bit lost, like who am I now? I still feel capable, wanting to be productive and use my skills, but I have no idea, what I want do or how to even start to unravel my life. My last job was particularly tyrannical and I think I’m suffering from a bit of PTSD. My social life is almost nonexistent, I feel like I’ve been away on a 30+ year trip, and just returned to an unknown universe. Wish I had seen your video years ago!

I retired years early as an RN after being in healthcare for 40 years. I quit the leadership not the job. COVID made me realize that leadership didn't care about nurses. We were 50% staffed for months and still expected to get everything done with no overtime authorized, while leadership came and left on time.

I worked as a MA for 4 years. I really hated the constant stress, burn out, and bullying in the workplace. I opened a home daycare, and I also feel burn out. I dont really like it anymore because of many reasons. One, is unstated income. I just got accepted into nursing school, but I know I don't really want to be in the Healthcare field. However, that's the only thing I feel will give me the financial stability I need to raise my children on my own. I am very conflicted about the decision to go to nursing school. But, again I hope there will be a nursing job out there that will fit my needs and allows to be there for my children .

Male RN here with 4-5 years in nursing, but ~ 20 in medical field (paramedic, LPN, pharm tech, ER tech, etc.). Luckily, the choice to keep working as an RN was taken out of my hands when I went into end stage renal failure. Honestly, it was a relief and blessing to have developed a life-threatening condition rather than stay in nursing. The raw hostility I received for being male in a female-dominated setting was palpable from my first minute on the job. Nursing is a horrible job. That’s why they have to pay people so much to do it. Something - anything - goes wrong? ALWAYSALWAYSALWAYS the nurse’s fault. You are verbally abused by patients, family members, doctors, administration, and, worst of all, other nurses. DON’T go into nursing if you have any other choice. Find a trade job. ANYTHING but nursing.

I’m only a Gna and I just recently quit my nursing home job can’t do it anymore. You couldn’t pay me to work in a nursing home. Tired of the burn out, the disrespect low pay. I’m changing my major.
