Building some levees with the Terracing Plow. I wasn’t able to take any footage from inside the cab because it was too difficult. Building levees from scratch pretty much takes a lot of work. Enjoy this short video!!

Getting more off the to-do list in order for the up coming crawfish season. Pulling trees off levees, to bush hogging, even plowing and the final bit of water leveling. Still have a long ways to go before the rice can be planted, but hey!! We are making progress!

    I found you through TikTok. Where I live they grow corn, soybeans,wheat, and cotton. Its really interesting to see the rice farming operation, since there are no rice farms near me. I definitely enjoy your channel.

    Here are some tips for startup and drive: 1. Push the choke in after startup 2. NEVER immediately push the clutch in because if there is somebody or something on the tractor it could cause them to fall off. Make sure to always ease into it before locking it into position, but don't take too long easing into it because that burns the clutch up.

    I wonder why you don't put the traps in different spots? Does your propeller kill crawfish?

  • @OneOut1

    O nptoced the boat driver placing each new baited trap right before he picked one up. Do crawfish travel that far ? Im just wondering if each new baited trap would be more productive if placed halfway between the earlier baited traps. Do mudbugs travel that far?

  • @OneOut1

    You spoke about the crawfish molting. Why isnt that a good time to harvest at least some of them? I pay a premimum for soft shell crab. Why no soft shell crawfish?

      @jtcrawfishfarmsllc3674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, we are running one boat this year with a basket on it. The setup is expensive to swap but well worth it.

  • @teecuzbruh4058
    @teecuzbruh4058 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Planted just for the crawfish? Expensive, but the crawfish don't grow well on grass alone from what I've seen

    • @jtcrawfishfarmsllc3674
      @jtcrawfishfarmsllc3674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have farmed each year a property with grass and have not had any good results. We will stay with planting the rice for the crawfish as we have found it is the best food source for them.

    The older guy spraying the ether in the breather reminds of my grandpa, a farmer who could fix anything, and taught me more about everything than my college professors. I miss him!

    • @jtcrawfishfarmsllc3674
      @jtcrawfishfarmsllc3674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s exactly who he is to me. I grew up two houses down from his farm. Now I help him farm and he helps me farm. He’s my Paw now. All my children call him Paw. He teaches me, guides me and is always there for me. He can fix anything as well. Old school farmer. He doesn’t call the dealership for every little problem. He learns and fixes it himself. His dad bought this tractor new on his farm in the 70’s and now he has passed it down to me. I learn a lot from that man. Thank you for the kind words and inspiration.

    What is the purpose of working in water. Why didnt you work with dry soil while leveling?

    • @jtcrawfishfarmsllc3674
      @jtcrawfishfarmsllc3674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We kept getting rain and the soil wouldn’t dry. So we made the decision to go in and turn it up with the plow to make it dry. We have a certain time to get the rice for the crawfish planted. So we where running out of time and had to do it this way. South Louisiana is so different than anywhere else. Our soils are different and so are the farming techniques. We still farm the old conventional way at times when we are forced to do so.

    • @jtcrawfishfarmsllc3674
      @jtcrawfishfarmsllc3674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each field is different when we are growing a rice crop. A lot of it was nitrogen.

    I like your videos. Keep making more. I have 25 acres of pasture that has maybe 3 or 4 acres of wet areas that are full of crawfish down here in south Texas. I'm gonna build levees around them to keep them wet and hopefully I can harvest 200 or 300 pounds a year to enjoy with my family.

    That right front tire is a rice tire, and so are the rear tires. The Bendix starter gear is bad. But if you into restoring antic tractors, than this is a good one to fix up. Once repaired it will run for many many hours of use. I don't see a pto, which is common in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and other wheat belt states.
