Arrest made thanks to my Tile. Property recovered. Watch the arrest being made!
I was playing in a pool tournament when I noticed that my pool case had been stolen from the hook I had left it on. My Tile tracker told my that it was last seen 9km away close to a shopping center. We quickly drove over and found the bag in the back seat of a car. That police were called and they brought in a ghost car to stakeout the vehicle. After a 2 hour wait the arrest was made and I recovered my property. THANK YOU TILE and Laval police.

I play in a league with 9’ tables so I wanted a 9’ table in my basement. I only have 11’8” on the long rail sides so technically this isn’t enough clearance for even a 7’ table with a standard 58” cue. So……. I went ahead and bought an 8’ table, telling myself that I would just use a shorty cue for the occasional shot. Well 40% of my shots required the shorty cue and within a few days I decided ...
Lifting a house with bottle jacks. This saved me $1000’s
มุมมอง 231K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The house sank about 5" because it was build on sand. The footing was only 10" deep. Once we raised it a few inches we realized the sill plates were also rotten. We separated the house from the foundation by knocking out cinder blocks and lifting it with bottle jacks. We then replaced the sill plates and leveled it. 6 days total and about $1000.00 in material.

    Underpinning, now known as Groundworks, quoted me $80,000 to raise the east side of my 45-year old house 3"-4". Insane anyone would pay that much, so I am in the TH-cam University phase of planning right now. LOL

    • @scrosby1000

      @@jamescurnutt1628 we had approximately the same quote. It just doesn’t make sense to spend that kind of money just so an engineer can give a stamp of approval. Our grandfathers would turn over in there graves if they saw how todays world has become so “ hands off”

    • @jamescurnutt1628
      @jamescurnutt1628 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      When I told the fella that gave me the quote that his quote is 25% of what my house is worth, he shot back that they had "Zillowed" the value of my house and knew it was now worth a million+. So, they knew how long my wife and I have lived here, what we paid for it, and know the place is almost paid off. I asked why would I remortgage my house on an $80,000 loan at 7% to pay for 3"-4" of sink in the last 45 years or drain the 401k? After interest paid, that would be $120,000-$130,000 fix. I get their repair is 'permanent,' unless mother nature takes the house, which is happening everywhere these days. Total overkill. I live in Nor. California near Sacramento. This isn't a 4-story mansion. This is a very modest 3/2 ranch house that had an addition added 35 years ago. It is the addition that is settling a bit. Our grandfathers, at least mine, would be more upset with this corporation and how the global 'we' have let corporations take over our lives. Nothing speaks Freedom more than working 80 hours a week under a mountain of debt with no sick pay, no retirement, no health care, and defunded education. Thanks for the video!

    Amazed that this quandary was actually solved. Having the same problem, I was ready to design a DIY mechanism... and holy cow, found this video. I searched for this with little hope of finding such a thing - and here it is! Many thanks for sharing this amazing video... I was hoping there would be a parts list to rail materials, servo, radio control etc., with URLs and didn't find one.... maybe I missed it. Anyway a million thanks Scott! Will continue to look around for that info, but wanted to write a comment immediately after watching the video.

    ***PLEASE READ ENTIRELY FOR A SIMPLER AND LESS EXPENSIVE SOLUTION*** As well as Scott, I was also googling/youtubing for a solution to this problem. At first I had no luck. Eventually I figured a rail system could be a possible solution so I modified my search and was able to come across this video. I love how you took us through the solutions of both the main problem and the obstacles that arose in a humorous and intelligent way. I am grateful for people like you. Thanks for taking of your time and energy to share your genius idea, and helping others with the same problem by making it possible of owning a pool table. After reading many of the comments, I noticed another possible solution to this problem was by spinning the pool table. I continued my search and I eventually came across another video where they place the pool table on top of a “lazy susan” type mechanism. After getting no response from the channel, I began googling and found the spinning mechanism. It goes by the following names: “pallet carousel”, “industrial turntable”, “industrial carousel”, “air bearing turntable”. It comes in different diameters and weight capacities, as well as other “extras”. You would also have to find two rectangular panels to place on top of the spinning mechanism and afterwards, the pool table on top of the panels. This solution is “plug&play”, manual and requires no skills. I hope it could be helpful to someone. Below is the video link for reference: th-cam.com/users/shortsyu9LjGMnoXQ?si=kCo0fjewwgigDFJr

    Hopefully you also addressed the drainage and water shedding problems that caused the settlement to begin with. Proper gutters and adding french drains around the foundation to control run off as well as adding flashing over the deck, under the siding to prevent water working back to sill plate. I currently have issues of water running under and behind footings in a crawl spaceon a house addition. footings are not bolted to wood stub wall, and have no rebar and it appears the wood stub wall wasnt attached to wall sill plates, so i may utilize this method to leave the footings as they are, solve the drainage problem and just lift between the sill plates of the stub wall and then sister the studs and put back down.

    I smiled all the way thru this vid. The intelligence, humor, and reserved passion- you are at the top of the list when it comes to How To men! I had a dream/demand. I want my living room back- hence our pool table needs a new home. No rooms big enough! I looked at some solutions on internet and I don’t need to try their suggestions- casters will not work- physics, right? I love this solution. I have me (determined) and 3 brothers (talented) who have the skill sets that can pull it off. BUT- my problem is a little bit more complex. Challenge- can you design a table that can do exactly like yours- only I need it to move roughly 609 mm N-S and roughly 609 mm E-W. I thought 2 set ups similar to yours independent but as a cohesive system might be easier to accomplish over 1 unit to do it all… I have no skills in any required to design or build. But I can reason and envision things in my head so I need you!! And my living room. And my pool table. 🌸🦋💜

I envisioned a set up that I can only describe as a bed frame-type design with the rails and the other “stuff”. lol. Come on Scott! I will end up giving in to giving up my living room- I bought that pool table for my husband on his 55th birthday. He is 59 now and I still love him so I’m not gonna take it away from him. I love to play too! We spent many first dates at pool hall! You can come here and make a video- we will put you up! 😂

    Had to swing on by this video and comment again. I managed to get my rails drilled, holes tapped, bearings bolted, and pool table sitting on top of them and boy, lemme tell ya. I'm pretty impressed if I dare say so myself. I still havent motorized it, but honestly, I dont know if I actually need to in my scenario. Idk if my cloth isnt that fast (Championship Invitational with Teflon) or what, but I can pretty much move it without moving the balls at all. I only notice issues when I feel the table move beneath me because the lack of a ball screw keeps it from being locked into place. And so, I will still motorize it, but for now I can actually play all my shots without jacking up the cue or using the shorty. I saw this video and used it to help justify buying a bar box and putting it in a 10x20' room over a year ago, and I bought the bar box that week for like $30, bought new slate for $50, covered the cloth and replaced all the rubbers for some $175-200, and now am idk less than $100 into this sliding rail system, with maybe another $150 to get it motorized. Altogether, I managed to take some $500 and a room too small for pool, and make a playable pool experience out of it. Thanks for the inspiration. I will probably try and do my own video and attribute all credit to this one, in hopes that more folks have opportunities to convince themselves a pool table is right for them.

      @@kevinwilliams510 thanks! Doing some troubleshooting right now and wondering if my bottom rail just isnt cutting it. I used 3/4" x .120 wall angle iron. Its real floppy at one end when I have the table at the other end, and so its deflecting in such a way as to contour to the uneven floor. Its like my floor has an "up-bow" in it; slightly lower on the outside edges. Only notice it on long or slow shots, the ball will curve towards the nearest wall. I started fooling with shimming the bottom rail but I dont know if thats gonna prove effective or not. I dont wanna just buy a bunch of different stock sizes, but also I dont wanna overspend on a needlessly beefy lower rail. Im thinking I might upgrade next to 1" x .250 wall on the bottom and see how that plays. I expect if the floor is uneven, which it most certainly is, I WILL have to shim it, and thats fine, but I think shimming a more rigid piece of metal will have better results and deflect less on movement.

    • @kevinwilliams510
      @kevinwilliams510 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TyCrawford I think you may find that even the thicker rails will flex with the weight of the table. I ran into a problem because the table and rails flexed just from sitting on an area rug over a hardwood floor. This caused one of the slate seams to pop. I've got mine taken apart at the moment while I print soft plastic channels for the aluminum angles to rest on so they don't scratch the hardwood when I remove the rug. I definitely had to shim the rails. My floors were pretty flat, but not quite level enough for a pool table.
