I have been to Haiti and watched those trucks carrying rice or cement at they got to have at least 40 tons of weight on the trucks. They run them until they break and then they weld them back and hit the road again doing the same old thing over and over. We have to remember that they built the Great Wall of China with little more than tablespoons.

Clever way to clean up and cut new tread. The problem is, you cut metal away from the hub. The diameter comes less. If it is too less, you have to modifie the big nut, by making a slit in the nut, and welding a screw both sides of the slit. Now you can make the nut more tight. Mercedes pkw had this system long time ago.

You should have inserted sleeve welded inside the joint before joining and welding together for reinforcement of the joint,
