I must have watched this 50 times at least, sometimes I put it on 'Loop' - it's wonderful - & if I play it in the morning it stays with me for the whole day. It always conjures up a Breughel painting.
Of the few regrets of small village life is never having had much chance to take part in anything similar to this, I love it.

One of our favorite songs even in Primavera where we never had slring like we had it in Europe.

Of the more than 50 (?) performances I know this is the absolute top for me. It could not have been more simple; one person per voice, no orchestra. I have listened to many performances with orchestras, great choirs and really beautiful additions like a clarinet, but this very basic version beats all. It really made me cry.

No doubt the best performance of this absolutely sublime cantique composed by the young Gabriel Faure to be found on YT. The tenor, bass, alto, and soprano voices are all clear, rich, and beautifully sung. The harmonies send shivers down the spine of the listener, which is so fitting for this piece.
