From breakdown comes breakthrough! Frankie loses control!!
At a recent horsemanship demonstration charlottes new horse Frankie was the last horses to finish the day with about 25 minutes to go . A lovely little ending to a very stormy but successful demo we thought . Frankie on the other hand had a different take on that 😃. From breakdown comes breakthrough is what needs to happen here hopefully

Horses and Ponies showing Dangerous Behaviour!
มุมมอง 10K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Often we make excuses for annoying and dangerous behaviour from young horses and ponies . I don’t treat colts or Phillies any different to older horses . I have time and time again shown owners an equine brain is an equine brain young or old . Hope you enjoy this video and get something from it . Things are so much better since I visited 🙂
Racehorse petrified of a measure !!
มุมมอง 6K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
This 6 year old ex race horse was part of our Bristol horsemanship demo day . He’s one of the nicest sweetest horses you could meet and also one of the the slowest race horses ever 😃! His best was second from last ! Gotta love him 🥰. Here Steve works with a long standing deep rooted phobia of a measuring stick. This was a big risk to tackle in a live demo but all worked out amazingly well with ...
How Well Can You Read Horses??
มุมมอง 9K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
See how well you can read horses . Here is Chevy and Darci playing earlier this morning . One is the Alfa horse ( sorted out in their play during the last week together ) so see if by observing them who it is . I make it clear at the end when feed and water rights come into play.

Big changes shown in this horse! A lot to learn in this video!
มุมมอง 9K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
From a demo 'unedited' video, sound is ok but at times its a little hard to hear.. Big changes shown in this horse which was so much more difficult than was shown on the day. He must have took one look at Steve and thought oops must be a good boy now :D

Major jackpot’s update. Dad posted Indie-Ann’s update earlier in the week and asked me to do one. Well …. Being a month younger and only 3 and a half weeks … we hadn’t done some of the tasks they had shown in their update … but not to be outdone …i think we ticked them off today !! Maybe not as smooth as dad, my timing and release definitely isn’t as good , … but we’re trying our hardest and I’...

Horse wont stand still for its owner! Lets see if I can help!
มุมมอง 11K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here is a horse that really needs to willingly side up to a mounting block for its owner. He’s quite reluctant and has a habit of moving his hind quarters away . I’m quite persistent and show another way to help him decide to move in the direction that is our idea .
Problem Horse keeps diving for grass! Lets see if we can help him!
มุมมอง 9K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
A lovely first horse helping visit today in Surrey . This new Forrest pony called Lester needed a little direction on a few things ( longer video to come ) this clip was the start changing his idea on constantly diving for grass ( such a common problem and at times can ruin a ride ) Lester is real smart and caught on real quick 😊
Another foal is here! Major Jackpots first 36 hours of life!
มุมมอง 15K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Major jackpot’s first 36 hours. Friday afternoon I just knew that Molly was acting a little different and decided to plait her tail and stay over at mum and dads! And …. While checking the camera, I noticed her acting a little weird, and saw the first signs of labour! Within an hour, Molly had a beautiful little black colt…. But … some of you may not realise that he will actually be white grey ...

Dream horse has become a nightmare
มุมมอง 26K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here’s a lovely cob mare purchased only 4 months ago by Laura and the dream has become a nightmare . Laura and her friends have tried so hard to get this horse to safely stand to mount . Other issues have slowly started to improve but not the mounting . We always say if your horse won’t stand still for getting on you are steeling a ride . Steve again is short on time but tries hard to set a new...

--Steve your pressure and release timing is absolutely bang on ... during the clapping sessions at 7:04 and 7:20 you signal to stop clapping when Frankie lowers her head, licks and chews; great video.
Always good to watch you work. Have a happy Christmas!
Great vlog thank you!
I wonder if old owners are watching this and thinking what a wonderful horse they let go. Charlotte saw the potential, she's a wonderful big girl. Did not take long to iron out a little niggle. Well done as always.
💙
Just noticed the "MEMBERS ONLY" content - I guess if VIEWS, LIKES, and SUB's aren't enough for you I'll be seeing you somewhere further down the road. I am not a horse person but I did enjoy what I have seen.
Another Great video! Saving for my 4-H club! You have Really helped my timing and understanding after 60+ years working horses 🐎❤️🐎
Everyone….May your holidays be filled with joy.
Frankie is stunning 😊
She respected your space well ❤
I often wonder whether horses accustomed to another language are confused by our insistence on using language to provide directions rather than body language
I’m just so impressed with Steve. A talented trainer, teacher and communicator. I most appreciate his timing.
Thank you ❤ 😊
Beautiful horse 🐎, Charlotte ❤ Great little demo, Steve. 😀
I missed this video three months ago, I don’t know how that happened. However, besides the normal horse stuff I learned from your channel I just learned that Portland cement comes from that island of Portland, and not from Portland, Oregon here in the United States. If that little pony, we’re here in the states, we would say she was built like a brick S**T house. Wow did she have a nice little build?
When I was a kid, I was taught to lead with a droop in the rope, with the horse's head at my shoulder. I never knew just how the horse knew to keep in that position - it just happened - but I knew that if you had to hold your horse tight you clearly didn't know how to lead it properly (or maybe the horse was no good and therefore not a good 'un) . So here I am 80 years on, learning the 'how to', lol. Turns out I didn't know what I knew - Good job, Steve!
Wow! Thankfully it turned out well for everyone and Frankie
I love Frankie, she is stunning & perfect for Charlotte. She’s lucky to have a great home with you guys.
Good demo with Frankie
You had a green horse that spooked (not unusual) so you pulled and tugged it about a bit and waved your little flaggy stick to "calm it down" 😳 The fact is that Charlotte could have calmed Frankie down with a lot less drama I suspect, You are lucky to have such a supportive daughter who allowed you this "puff piece".
Seriously? 🙄
@@cb664 If you mean am I serious in what I say Absolutely. Charlotte is more than capable both in the saddle and out of it.
STEVE … Can you give us your thoughts on bitless bridles? I’m seeing her in Canada & US a lot of barefoot and bitless bridling… I love both but curious how I’d move from a bit to none (my horse plays with his bit in his mouth and even put his tongue over the bit so I’ve stopped riding as I’m afraid I’ll damage his tongue.
Frankie is stunning Charlotte… congratulations
FAMILY Father And Mother I Love You Truly a FAMILY affair!!!
I have always admitted the length of rope away from the horses mouth that you hold the rope. True leading. When Charlotte took the lead rope she reached to take the "length of rope" from her father and not the mouth piece. Great example.
Brilliant !!!!!!!!!🤠
Dear Steve, greetings from Austria…. I love your clips! You really helped me with my pony…. thank you a lot 🎉😊
We Love Frankie! She is Gorgeous She has a certain stlye in her walk & it's all her own !
No one should be making fun of or laughing at this poor woman who is very obviously at her wits end with this horse. It is easy to criticize or judge when not standing in someone else’s shoes.
Troubled? Frankie came troubled? I was seriously considering buying a membership but, then realized that you don't ever interact with. us peasants and, frankly, I'm not looking to join the aristocracy. If I'm wrong please leave a link to where a question was answered or comment reaction.
Steve might be many things aside from being one of the best Horseman in the world and he is able and willing to teach us the elementary steps in becoming better leaders to our horses, therefor having a safe, respectful and fun time with our four-legged friends. But to call him a snob for not answering questions or interacting with the audience, is in my humble opinion not fair. Of course, it would be nice to have every question answered but I am sure, his and his family’s days have only 24 hours like ours….I appreciate the great amount of free videos one can watch and learn endlessly without a membership. Having heard here and there in videos that certain visits to troubled owners (not horses 😊) are sometimes free of charge, like for a shelter, then I believe his time is better spent doing that: saving another horse and owner from disaster and paving the way for a better future. I am sure the comments are read as there are videos in response to returning questions from the audiende.
She is a beautiful mare … great shopping pick Charlotte! She’ll be a real treat as time goes on. Amazing how quickly they settle when you’re controlling the horses’ feet and leading with confidence. I always enjoy and love watching the VLOGs … it’s always good news for the horses/owners/handlers. Happy Trails! 🙏🙌✝️✡️❤️
A blow out! Yikes! Praise God you all were safe ❤
Great lesson!
Lovely horse. Excellent video. Thanks from 🇨🇦
Beautiful horse Charlotte! Looking forward to seeing her progress Thanks Steve and Tanya, you guys make my day🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
Great video thank you ❤️🐴
Btw do you still have Jimmy?
I saw someone comment in another post that Jimmy had to be put down because of some Health issue. But that’s just from a commenter
We all liked him. Not sure why they haven't mentioned it. 😪@@PersonalTriumph2022
Wow Frankie is just beautiful. Lucky you Tanya. What a nice horse.
Look forward to seeing more of this beautiful horse and her progress, thank you Steve.
Lovely little session there and so good to see about helping a horse feel more at ease with clear signals and boundaries from the get go.
Frankie is looking very festive in the Christmas rug 🎄
Steve & Tanya, I can't tell you both how much I appreciate your amazing work with these horses. I don't own a horse, probably never will, but your work has helped me immeasurably with my half-feral cats. I have learned SO MUCH from watching Steve work with horses. Animals are far smarter than we give them credit for. My cats have come a very long way in mutual understanding, respect & trust because of Steve. I cannot ever thank you enough, Steve & Tanya.
How and what do you transfer from what Steve does with the horses to your cats?
It's his energy. Calm, patient, on point with timing. It's an energy thing. It's a true gift. I praise God that Mr & Mrs Young share their knowledge with me (everyone). Their precious daughter Char, is not to be discounted. She's a awesome gifted Lady as well. 🙏💜@louisegogel7973
@@louisegogel7973 me too. I've acquired 3 feral cats. the integration with one domestic is challenging.
Gentle kindness, "making our idea their idea"
Oh lovely, Frankie! I guess no one told you there would be fireworks at the finale.👏😂
It seems to be a universal way of leading our horses right at their halters. How can they even begin to consider our space if they are led, right on top of us? I never knew this many years ago when I had a horse. By holding the lead rope a number of feet from the horse, we can then see that the horse is crowding us and we can show him that we must have that space respected.....such a huge thing for them and US.
Beautiful horse, someone will snap this one up but I would be careful to find the right person so the horse can lead a good life and per haps reach its potential.
He’s such a baby…. How sad that he is being deprived of horse interaction. Honestly… I feel it amounts to abuse. It will definitely affect the sort of horse he grows up to be. Let him be a horse while he is such a baby. Other horses will teach him how to behave… it makes me think about horses that are hand reared… they have so many issues from not having had a natural upbringing.
Steve you are a great trainer
You did a fabulous job with him bravo
I'm loving your videos. Your insight into how a horse thinks is brilliant. My horse days are over but I think back to when I was 15 and bought my own horse and I can now understand why that was a disaster. If I'd known what you are doing, and understanding a horses mind, well me and my horse would have been amazing . Sad really as he ended up as dog food. Question please. As the horse is a prey animal and a dog is a predator animal. Would some of your techniques for horses work on a dog? I thank you very much for sharing your wisdom
What a transformation,and a little happy chappie now😊
Wonderful video. It looks like this horse has a sore left hip. It doesn't move as easily as the right hip. Not sure, but just concerned ❤. I don't know much about horses. Thanks for your content, always so uplifting. Reaching out from Ottawa, Canada 🇨🇦.
Interesting that you say that. I noticed that right away myself. I no longer own a horse and haven’t been around them for many years so my judgement isn’t worth much for sure but I felt as though this little guy just wasn’t moving like he should. Concerning yes, a bit.
