how much does it cost to cross the panama canal? velociraptor was a funny joke.
It depends... If you speak spanish and are willing to deal with all the paperwork yourself then it can cost as little as about $800. Each agent has different fees, but for us it ended up being about $1500 all together. We were told that the biggest of the cargo ships pays about one million dollars per transit :0
@@briantobin9 ouch.

God will be bringing help soon around 1billion or more for all affected relief on its way
Prayers up for all affected by Helene. I'm so very sorry for what you're going through. God be with you all.
Thank God
Wishing you well
Thanks Paul! How are you?! It’s been a long time! Recovery in process over here, my people are safe it’s just going to be a long road ahead
Just got our power back yesterday at 4:30 in the afternoon,.. 11 days later worst hurricane since 78 the year was born.hugo was a spring rain compared to this Helene,.we are having a tree cutting party today in GREER SC
Congratulations on your power! And on community tree cutting. Only estimate we have on our power back is that it won’t be for atleast another week but we are lucky here in the city limits…people are still trapped out in the counties!
This video is incredible. Great work. Btw wishing you guys quick healing from the hurricane.
Thanks Paul! Hope you are well too and thanks for watching :) ha it takes me a thousand years to make a video but there’s still much more to share. We are slowly recovering from the storm, water still isn’t drinkable but it’s running now in most of the city. It will be a long recovery tho.
So tragic..God help all affected..
Y’all got it way worse than we did in Upstate SC. We’re still without power and water, but we have our homes and each other. The history books show the same thing happened to us in July 1916. Prayers to all those affected.
Wishing you all safety and recovery. We’re hurting here but I’m feeling luckier than many are. No power or water but the cell service is coming back and highways have been cleared south and east of here so supplies are coming in. It’s going to be a long road to recovery.
How long did that take?! Monster fish looks like a crazy long fight
Over an hour!
How you doing friend?
@@offgridislandwithbremily surviving best I can 😅
Theyre porpoising
Best episode yet! They just keep getting better and better! ❤
Thanks mom 🤣🩷🙌
What kind of speed in crease did you get from the folding propeller? Keep the videos coming 🤙
Varies depending on what speeds you are doing... (slows you down more the faster you are going) On average close to a knot :)
What an experience!! Skills and rewards!
It was intense!
Ayeeeeeeee!!! Much Respect Much Love
🙌
Rip propeller...
Indeed!
What an amazing girl!
You are the most amazing El Capitan
Love these videos of your journey and love story:)

I love these videos of your journey and love!
What a super video! I loved seeing the maps, features and the MOMENTS OF PURE BEAUTY!!!
You’ll be in the next one!
What a beautiful journey with the most beautiful people!!!!! Can't wait to see more:)
1st time viewer, I'm interested so far..........😃👍
Welcome! Thanks for watching :)
4:52 can we get a full systems/tour video? Love the practical breakdown
we can work on something like that for sure! anything in particular you'd like to see or know more about?
@@offgridislandwithbremily I'm interested in your power and cooking. Do use propane or electric? What kind of capacity/battery bank do you have and why? Sail set-up? We know you have a background in sailing, why choose the rig you have? That kind of stuff
All caught up now and i gotta say. Bremily feels like such a Hollywood power couple name like Brangelina 😅. Looking forward to follow your adventures going forward. Let me know if you need extra hands state side.
hahahaaa thanks so much for watching! feels like were going to be a power-tools couple moving forward ;)
Whats the story behind the name Big Bear?
I’m Swedish, and in Sweden a sailor is called a “Sea Bear” (like sea dog in the US)... So all my boats have had bear in the name ;)
@@briantobin9 ok now I'm curious what other Bear themed boat names you've had lol
There was Bearcat and KittyBear! And our tender’s name is Cubby 💗
How far away is your neighbor? From the drone shots y'all look like the only building on the island.
We pretty much have one end of the island to ourselves, with neighbors a few acres away down the road...
@@briantobin9 oh nice. Here I was thinking you just owned a whole island 😂
We certainly have plenty of privacy by you thank goodness there is a wonderful community of kind and amazingly talented people close by :)
@@briantobin9 I got that job I interviewed for!
I could have helped with the bushwhacking lol. I've worked in timber boundary and property survey and landscaping
Well we got a whole bunch more of that to do! Lots of standing dead trees that still need to be dropped too...
@@briantobin9 Soon as I find some employment I'll work on getting my passport, maybe I could get it in time to help you do some work around the property this season.
Just met Brian IRL walking the dog, super cool dude. Gonna binge watch all your content to get caught up, can't wait to follow your adventures going forward.
Awww thanks so much! Emily here :) he told me about meeting you!
@@offgridislandwithbremily Yeah the dogs had a lot of fun, we could do a pooch playdate sometime if y'all would be interested
Best one so far!
Thanks pop!
So much beauty!
She really is ❤
You have the perfect Bahamas (and bluewater) boat! We did a similar route across the Bahamas bank with 7' feet of draft 😬. Great video!
Wow did you have any sticky spots with the 7th draft? We were sweating in a few places even with only 3😅thanks for watching!
@@offgridislandwithbremily We touched bottom only once near Chubb Cay. Otherwise, we just had to anchor much further out, which made for longer dinghy rides. I found your channel actually looking for info on the Allures 39.9. Hard to find a used one for sale!
It sounds like you found a way through even with the deeper draft! Not many indeed, and they don’t offer the 39.9 anymore. Big Bear was built semi custom, and Swiftsure Yachts was the amazing broker who assisted Brian with the process. They assisted with the deal on the new build, however they do broker used boats as well. If there’s any Allures for sale in the US they likely know about it if you are in the market.
@@offgridislandwithbremily Thanks for the info! I've been in touch with Swiftsure. Looking forward to your next videos. What an adventure!
Well, hello! 🤣 ETA: Just finished and well worth the wait, thank you!!!
hello!
thanks so much for hanging in there! next one will be out sooner than this one ;)
Are we gonna get to see the trip from the Bahamas to Panama, then on to BC? Did you take the great loop up to Hawaii or did you do the Baja bash? Allures sailboat content is exceedingly rare, your teasing me LOL.
Haha! Awww thanks for your patience :) yep more videos coming! We were so busy with the build this summer it’s hard to spend too much time on the computer. Allures is indeed the dream :) our original plan was routing through Hawaii but the weather pattern never looked trustworthy enough that year, so we ended up traveling up the coast. Fortunately we were able to time our weather windows and avoid too bad of a bashing 🤣
What happened to this channel? The Allures 39.9/40.9 is my dream boat. Would love to see her underway and how she is to live with.
Yeah sorry about that, we've been super busy, but stay tuned! We have tons of great footage that covers thousands of miles that will be made into videos starting in the near future... And the Allures is a worthy dream boat ;) I can't speak highly enough, she's handled anything and everything that we've encountered in stride!
what a magical day! :)
Got on your channel from Calico Skies.... What a Project ! you will be extremely busy ! we know BC very well as we live near Sechelt.... Do you have a place to put up solar panels for your house as you are surrounded by a solid rain forest, it will be a challenge..... cheers
Hey thanks for watching! Can’t wait to explore some more of BC, and it looks like we’re not too far away from you in Sechelt! In the first video where we tour around the property there’s a summit area that we’ve scoped out as a good solar spot (in the summer, I think it will be a bigger question mark during the cloudy winter). The little garden did well there this summer as it’s southern exposure. We’ll see though! We also have an opportunity to experiment with hydropower in the rapids in front of the cabin. That will probably be more of a pet project in the future but something fun to dream about 💗
The approval process to do a tidal hydro power makes it just about impossible as it requires Federal approval. Recommend to use a 24 Vdc system if the panels are any distance from the house because of the wire resistance and voltage drop, I was thinking the place near the dock might be a good spot especially if its a southern exposure, big cheers from Sechelt. @@offgridislandwithbremily
@@francinegolbeck3116 thank you so much for the insight! yes we have a shore lease for the hydropower in process but you're right, it seems like there could be many more steps involved before that ever became a reality (not to mention the rapids, growth, and salt corrosion to deal with...and making sure its safe for all the marine mammals in the area). Will have to ask you more advice as we get closer to that project. we considered that spot by the dock for solar however that is the northwest facing side of the property, and probably only has 6-8 hours of direct sun in the summer, fewer in winter. we are thinking about the southern exposure area of the property at the top of the hill, maybe panels on a roof so there is a covered structure up there too? thanks for the tips on wiring, very helpful!
Hi guys. Just found you from Calico Skys who I have been following forever. Looking forward to your story!! Cheers, Bill from Boston.
Thanks Bill from Boston! Glad to share the story with you, looking forward to putting a few more vids of the sailing journey together this winter. Is it getting nippy in the Northeast yet?
