Training for those who want to become proficient at slow speed skills. Our method of training helps riders to begin making 18-foot u turns with no wear and tear on their motorcycles, in as little as 30 mins. Our method of training beginner to seasoned riders is not the same as what is normally seen on youtube channels discussing slow speed maneuvering on touring size motorcycles. This method is becoming recognized in various training schools. Total Clutch Control (TCC) and Proper Throttle Engagement is key in our training. The rear brake is not depended on for making slow speed u turns and other normal slow speed maneuvers. We incorporate real-world scenarios into our parking lot training as the motorcycle does not know the difference between the street and parking lot. It's the rider/operator who makes the difference. Train hard, ride safe!

Braking on a motorcycle - do you have what it takes
มุมมอง 3.5K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Slow speed motorcycle are great, but should be used as the foundation for higher speed braking and obstacle avoidance skills. Most motorcyclists fail to develop their slow speed skills for fear of dropping and damaging their motorcycle, which in the long run cause the same motorcycle rider to fail to be able to stop or avoid a car that turns left in front of them, or stops abruptly.

How to Practice the Friction Zone on Harley Davidson Fast Johnnie
มุมมอง 3.1K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Learning the friction zone is not that hard. Most riders fear dropping and damaging their motorcycle and that is the reason motorcycle riders do not practice slow speed u turns and other slow speed maneuvers. Preloading RPM's is not necessary and will wear the clutch of the motorcycle and the brakes and rotors when practicing slow speed motorcycle turns for hours on end. Learn to use the clutch...

Jay, you might want to consider investing in a 'dead mouse' to eliminate the wind noise. Those drops sound painful, no wonder new riders are scared to practice.
What means s friction zone
What means oa grey zone?
That was awesome 😮 especially when you take your hand , put it on the windshield 😮 OMG . Thanks for your video's I feel iam getting a lot of knowledge from watching them. Iam a 40 year rider , the last 30 have been big full Dress Harleys. I just purchased a 2023 ultra limited edition, It's at the Harley Dealership in winter Storage , Am so looking forward the apply all of these techniques to hands on when weather here, Massachusetts gets warmer , Thank you for all the helpful tips. As always Stay Safe an Healthy , Sincerely Anthony Joseph Drumheiser Sr..
@anthonydrumheiser3704 Thank u sir! I love helping folks develop their skills. When u develop total clutch control first, then learn to add proper throttle engagement it makes you such a better operator, and without the unnecessary wear and tear. More than that, it's much safer to use while developing your skills.
"Clutch only" makes perfect sense. On sees videos where people do the same course but rev their bikes at 2,000RPM, or more. Their repair bill must be pretty high.
I discovered when installing the drop guards on a 2024 Indian Pursuit, for the lower fairing to cover the screws as demonstrated in this video, the fairing must be pulled outward, beyond the crash bar, to cover the screw. This exposes the fairing during a drop, except where the drop guard is near the bottom of the lower fairing. The drop guard is suppose to reduce the risk of damage if the bike is dropped, but now the lower fairing is more exposed. I played with the alignment of the lower fairing and the drop guard for a while. No dice. I think this would work well on a Challenger that does not have the lower fairings. As for me, I am not keeping them. They are very clear on their website, "ALL SALES ARE FINAL", so I will try to sell them to someone with a Challenger. Not recommended if you have a Pursuit.
Hey Steve, the lower fairing is not exposed beyond what it was without the Drop guards. The radius of the guard is beyond the fairing, but the Drop guard is not meant to protect the fairing as listed on the site, but does lift the bike up further from what it would be when layed over which has been shown to assist in the fairing not being scratched. The drop guards are meant to protect the parts attached to. Also did u lay the bike over to verify, as some have questioned it until they understood how the Drop Guards work. Please give me a call if u have any questions. Thanks
Jay when you are in figure 8s are you slightly disengaging the when not in the lean to control speed. Thanks
The total clutch control method has not been made evident in the videos. I assume faster release from friction zone but when and how are you adding throttle.
I'm 74 years young and still riding brother , good for you keep on biking.

You are a true Ninja Master on that there big bike 😉 1 day i hope to be close to your ability 🏍👍 Couple of Years of weekly practice & doing some advance bike courses 🏍 😊 & learning from all your Video's on repeat ! Knowledge is NOT a Burden ^ You have plenty to pass on ! Cheers from down under matey 🇦🇺🍹🕺
Man i definitely like Your training method better than some other American motorcycle instructors & the way they teach with 1500rpm /1800rpm & always on the back brake, Jerry Palladino teaches this & i brought into it & thought it was the way for me (i still like lots of his methods) But im being honest here im preferring You teachings 😊👍🏍 Think il stick with You for while from now & see how i go 🙏😉 Cheers from Bundaberg Australia 🇦🇺🍹🕺
Well its very clear to me ol mate YOU have to visit Australia for 2 years & open training school here in Queensland (Bundaberg Qld ) We have some courses here BUT they are more for getting licence/ learner courses , there is a couple of Advanced Courses but not in my home town of Bundaberg 🙈👎👎 So enjoy Christmas in Texas 🎅 Then load up & come down under to Australia 🇦🇺🍹😉 il be Your first student 🏍 & about 5 of my mates 😊👍
Man good teachings in this video 😊 Knowledge is NOT a Burden mate 🏍👍 Respect from Bundaberg Australia 🇦🇺🍹🕺
@stevewilson8752 thank you! Hope u will subscribe sir!
Great video! I have the drop guards and they have saved my bike from expensive damage. I have an Indian challenger. I want to get down there next year to get a private session. In the meantime, what did you find as the suggested rpm for the Indians? Also throttle sensitivity is different on the Indian than any of my Harley’s. Any other tips or tricks for us Indian owners?
Keep your foot off the rear brake, and just a little twist on the throttle. Couldn’t tell you what the rpm’s were as I was looking elsewhere. And for CERTAIN Jay knows how to teach! Well worth the trip
@@chacemayhew-mh5sj good insight and thanks for sharing that! Love Indian and my Challenger, however different clutch and much different throttle response from my previous Harley. Did you get the infamous Indian “check engine” light from doing extra clutch work? Any other tips and tricks until I can get down there? Sounds like time well spent !!!
Hi From Bundaberg Australia 🇦🇺🍹Great viewing & helpful information 👍😊 I'm new to Your channel & il be scrolling through your videos & looking forward to learning ! I usually watch Jerry Palladino (Police Motorcycle Training Instructor ) & Both You & Jerry are verry similar except Jerry is particular about rear brake pressure & not so much with You except when required 🏍 i like how you roll & happy to be on board with your channel from Aus 🇦🇺👍 Cheers from down under matey 🍹🕺
@stevewilson8752 Thank you, sir!! I hope u will subscribe. If there is anything we can help with in a video, please let us know. Merry Christmas to you!!
@@motorofficertraining No worries mate 😊👍 I subscribed & going through You teachings now as we speak ! Its 4:08pm Sunday afternoon here in Queensland Australia (its a Northern state of Aus 🇦🇺🍹& been raining for 3 days here 🌧🌧🌧 so lazy Sunday watching learning videos 🏍🕺
He did well. I know with his previous training he had to abandon all that and learn EVERYTHING different but the proof is in the control and repeatability
Oh yeah, that four hours of training with J is a game changer.
He doesn't need to add throttle because has good torque to pull it through at idle just by slipping the clutch.
Hi, I started riding late in life and I've been riding now for ten years and I'm on my fourth motorcycle, now at 64 I was considering selling my 2020 road King due to thinking my decent riding skill was behind me but after watching your video I have it all wrong. If practice more and be consistent with what you just showed I'm sure I'll change my mind about selling. I thank you.
Great video
Black people don’t buy another Harley! They’ve excluded the DEI program from their company! Power to the people! 👊🏾💪🏾
What rpm is your bike set at for all these manuvers?
I wish I would of seen your videos when I had my harley
Well Thank You!!
Have you ever tried to make those turns using a Honda VTX?
Thanks , i will try
Why does my motorcycle stall when I use nothing but the clutch??
Can’t read the letters
I think people have been consuming themselves with all this throttle clutch and brake. Just go fast enough to keep bike up and turn. It has always been like that
I must admit I was riding forty years ago and never heard of using friction or high rpm’s. Then all of sudden everyone talking about all this
Great videos sir, the discount code didn't work for me😢 also i wouldnt mind a little more in depth explaination of the techniques. Thanks for all you uave been doing

Hello. I'm late in asking a question, but i just now found this video. I am 68 and own a HD ultra limited. I was pretty good at making tight turns and circles after taking the advance rider course several years ago, but i'm quite rusty, and have to admit, a bit scared at making these tight maneuvers. I hope to go out to a vacant parking lot and give your techniques a go. Maybe you covered this and I missed it, but what causes people to drop their bikes when doing these skills? I know the front brake is a killer, but what else? If my memory serves, we were taught not to look immediately in front at the ground, but to focus on where we wanted to go? Thanks--great video!!
@motorofficertraining would love to a take a 4 hour training especially to pass on the knowledge to my son
What about a bike that has a hydraulic clutch? I’m sure the principal is the same? I have a 2017 Road Glide Ultra.
@stacyodom1746 exactly the same! Thanks for watching!
Camera work not too helpful
Wow, great job
This is the way I doit
Brother, PLEASE let us hear the details and nuances of your training. As someone who's in CA and can't get to where you train very easily (especially with my bike), it would be wonderful to get some long distance instruction. I've already been using some techniques of yours to train myself. Maybe hearing you give your wife or another student a tip on the fly will be a lightbulb moment for someone else watching! You're friggin awesome. Thanks for what you do 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼. We wanna hear everything hahaha. Within TH-cam's restrictions I guess 🙄🤷🏻♂️.
I am still struggling a lot with TCC. I just bought a new Goldwing, and I'm having a helluva time not resorting to also using my rear brake and throttle in conjunction with the friction zone. I could turn my old C90T cruiser on a dime using the brake, throttle, and friction zone, but didn't learn about TCC until after I sold that and bought the Wing. I think I am just afraid to drop the bike, but I'd sure love to spend some training time with you to nail this skill down. I'll keep practicing in the meantime.
Keep practicing! It will come. Train hard, Ride safe
Jay , watching your videos I have learned a lot, but go more in depth on it, it does help, hope to one day get to your location for a class, thank you for all you do!
I'm glad you have learned something! Would love to see you come train, and your are welcome! Thanks for commenting! Train hard, Ride safe
Hey Jay great video as always and Tonya is doing great. I would personally like to see a lot more of your instruction. It’s one thing to watch but so much more when you’re instructing. I’ve been riding legally for 51 yrs but still suck at low speeds skills and I could use anything and everything that you teach. I always pick up something that helps from each of your videos. I like the idea that the way you teach is not too hard on the bike either. Thx Jay and always look forward to your next video. Up here in Niagara Falls Canada area we’ll be putting the bikes away sooner than later unfortunately, so I’m trying squeeze in the most riding time possible.
@lennyevans4724 Thank you very much, sir, for the kind words. I haven't been sure whether folks will spend the time to listen to instruction and I don't want to bore them. I will do some instruction on how I train those who come train w me. Train hard, Ride safe
Thx for your reply Jay. Unfortunately, I probably won’t be coming down to Houston anytime soon, yes there’s a story behind that, but I would even be interested if you put out a training video with instruction,on a disc or something, I’m sure there are others that feel the same way and would pay what you feel is appropriate. Just a thought.
Yes please more details on total clutch control. We see that it's clutch only so obviously it all depends heavily on a very small range of motion. I started with hi rpms and overusing the rear brake, so im trying to re-learn using TCC, if i can figure it out. Its extra tricky when on a slope. I find i have to add a quick throttle blip to finish off a turn if facing uphill.
@hayjayready3765 when u turn uphill that's where proper throttle engagement applies to TCC. Thanks for watching and hope u will subscribe. Train hard, Ride safe
Went through motor school in Harris County 7 years ago. Saw a video this afternoon where you explained TCC to a MSF coach. The light finally came on. Went out and spent a couple hours with little to no throttle & rear brake. What a revelation. I didn’t wear the bike out and I didn’t wear myself out muscling the bars around. Actually had fun training for the first time. Amazing.
@Gummball_03 that's awesome! Thanks for watching, and hope you subscribe for upcoming videos. Train hard, Ride safe
