This is what I mean. I went in 2011 to spend 4th of July and see The Madison Regatta and locals boat, probably Miss Madison, beat the boat and US pilot with sponsorship from Qatar. He was trying to get friendly with me. Everyone was nice and friendly. I was screaming from a mount in a house where I was invited to stay, looking down on the race, "Dead on the water!" repeatedly, and that's what happened to the boat sponsored by Qatar. The motor suddenly stopped working on the water in the middle of the race. Shocked excitement. It was a miracle. Nobody was hurt. Actually we were all praying to St Rita. That's before I was illuminated. Here's my story about it. Also stars Jim Cazivel.

Very cool! Growing up Sid Bass was our next door neighbor, he ran his ol' 2 stroker on the lake at 70+mph he was a machine shop wiz. He also rebuilt a few of our old outboard motors my Dad managed to collect and piece together lol

I was at that race I remember all those boats and almost all the racers. Those were the days!

Vince Liddiard (of the UK) borrowed our boat for this race and crashed and destroyed it (see clip at 6:45). He never did pay us for the damages..

well that one in michigan is the hardest outboard race well it seems actually really hard but back in venezuela for nuestros rios son navegables its crazy watch the nigel hooke series for it

I replaced my GoPro with a higher quality camera. The Drift HD camera has better mounting options than the GoPro. I mounted my Drift camera on the side of my helmet. I didn't like the dorky GoPro sticking up high on the top of my helmet. Thanks for the input. :-)

You should try mounting a GOPRO camera on your helmet.

@welderman27 I don't think the 50D2 powerhead will interchange with the TLDI. It's a different animal. Get in touch with Richmond Aero Marine and ask them to be sure. (207) 737-4570

@jeff55v the EPA laws are so screwed up they complain about these things not running efficient but hell we still are dealing with the dam oil spill down here in the Gulf , I don't know none of it makes any sense

@jeff55v will a 50d2 power head fit in place of a 50TLDI outboard?

@welderman27 If it's for racing and you can show your racing credentials, new 50D2 powerheads are available in the U.S. through Richmond Aero Marine. Otherwise, you'll have to watch eBay for used parts. Thanks to the E.P.A. for making it more difficult to get what we need.

@brojaracing - I'm glad you liked the video. Sorry for the poor quality. I had a rough time converting it from an old VHS tape to a computer usable file. I remember Dave Ambrose, he was a great racer and friend.

This one hits home for me. My dad passed away 2 years ago, and he is in the 72W in this race. Finding this video ment alot to me. R.I.P Dave Ambrose
