I was very impressed with Joe Hite's singing and his musicianship when I saw him in Boca Raton at the Boca Black Box.. The Daybreak band had some unique arrangements to many of Barry's classic songs and seeing them live was exciting. Joe and the band had much of the charisma and showmanship that Barry created in the songs he made famous. Given that Barry is now 80 and has lost some of the vigor in his voice, I think Joe Hite and Daybreak in many ways capture more of the excitement of the Barry Manilow songs that I think are as good as the real Barry, especially because Daybreak performs their shows for 90- 120 minutes, which Barry never does anymore and none of the Barry songs that Daybreak perform are not condensed as medleys.

​​@@marvinglassman7165 This promo tape is not very good in my opinion . Background harmonies are mediocre at best. His voice is not a very powerful force . Manilow has a very unique sound . There is too much vibrato in Joes voice at times. I saw Barry not to long ago. You're right he does a medley or two. I don't mind that Joe doesn't capture what he should in this tape. Sounds like a good karaoke singer. Is he better live ? I would hope . To me , this sounds like a garage band .And that's fine , If I'm sitting at a gazebo at the villages , not at 30 to 70 dollars a ticket .This video is not the video that would send me to see him. I would suggest a better promo if you're right about his show . And Marvin just by your comment , my gut feeling is you can make that happen. I could be wrong , but I think you're affiliated with this act , in one way or another. And that's fine. But take my advice and put together a better promo video. 0:22

Hi Juke Box Jim, Your comments are good and it sounds like you are a professional musician and your comments will be helpful to Joe and his band. I write articles about music and theater for South Florida Theater and I wrote a preview story on Joe Hite and the band, but otherwise I am not connected to Joe Hite professionally. As you posted earlier, Manilow's voice is difficult to reproduce and I thought Joe did a good job live and his eight piece band sounded like a full orchestra live. With all respect to the real Barry Manilow, he is still a great musician but his voice at age 80 lacks the richness of a younger Barry Manilow and he sounds so different today than he did even ten years ago, so in many ways, Joe's voice today brings me back to the times of the Barry Manilow heyday in the 1970s more so than the real Barry does now in Las Vegas. Also, Barry performs the songs "Daybreak", "Ready To Take A Chance Again", "Somewhere In The Night" and "This One's For You" as medleys in a condensed 60 minute show and Joe sings those songs in their entirety and puts a lot of emotion in his voice in his 90 minute show that may not be evident in this video. Many in the audience gave Joe and the band standing ovations and were on the floor dancing to "Copacabana" and "I Write The Songs" just like at a Manilow show. I think Joe Hite has a wonderful future ahead doing these tribute shows to Barry Manilow. @@TheJukeboxjim

@@marvinglassman7165 Marvin , that is the difference between our comments. You've seen him live , I have not. So I'll ask you , does this tape do him justice or is he better live ? I have been in the music business for 36 years , that doesn't mean I know even half of everything , that's just my opinion. .. . Interesting note , my son broke down a couple of tracks from years ago of Barry in the studio . He sounds like he has a notable lisp that is quite obvious in certain tunes. Barry and Karen Carpenter are almost impossible to recreate. There is a comment below from top of the world band. I have no affiliation with them , but marvel at their sound. She is great , no doubt , but what really makes the show is her band and backup vocals . Actually scary they're so good. Listen to the difference in promo videos , you'll see what I mean. Nice conversing with you , and keep the music of our lives relevant through your reviews.

@@TheJukeboxjim Hi Jim, Joe is much better live than what we see on the video. His band played novel arrangements to Barry's songs and Joe Hite held on to the notes in Barry songs much like Barry did in his heyday.
