Hi, I'm Paul Fisko, an electronic live act and producer of rough disco & techno from Nijmegen (NL). On this channel you'll find jams and live recordings of tracks made with a whole set of analog gear and compilations with an exclusive spotlight on single machines. For me playing as live as possible for a royal audience of dancing kings and queens is the real deal but here you can see me trying to synth my socks off.

ELECTRONIC LIVE JAM - FX-chain with Kaoss Pad 3 x 2 and 1 Roland MX-1

Analog synth and effect noodling with a dynamic filter-scatter-lfo-fx-chain. Setting foot on the heavier-side-of-music territory with this jam. Should I stay or should I go?

KORG Monopoly - Mono/Poly

The Korg Monopoly has been in my studio for quite a while. I've recently added the Modypoly-upgrade by Tubbutec which amongst others, adds extended filter modulation and Midi so now I can easily integrate it with the rest of the synth-family. The Modypoly-upgrade makes this beauty shine even more. More videos about it will come in the future. Effects: Analog delay: DOD Rubberneck Reverb: Neunab...

Awesome!
Thank you. A whole lot of creativity over there on your channel as well.
I've had this bookmarked for several years. I'm a professional synth software designer with a Mono/Poly and this is definitely my favorite demo of it.
Sir, I'm flattered
So many clean demos of this and the Behringer clone, and people wanting to hear the dirtier side with eth Effects section in play. But you go one further and stick a Bass Big Muff on it. Sounds awesome.
Love it🎶💯
Thanks for stopping by
So glad I found this channel! Do you have an album or something else to listen to?
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you like what you saw/heard and yes, I've released an EP a year ago: ditto.fm/discotech or on Bancamp: paulfisko.bandcamp.com/album/discot-ch
Love the feeling of the total sound.
Thanks. Appreciated!
❤❤❤❤😍😍😍😍
killer bassline , good job :)
Terrific, one of the more interesting Mono/Poly videos out there for sure. You're really giving those knobs a good turn. A question: any device you would recommend for use as a sequencer to the M/P?
I'm currently using a Keystep Pro via Midi. Had to add a Modypoly midi extension to the Mono/Poly for that but the Keystep (Pro) has cv out as well so that would work as the Mono/Poly has cv in. Beatstep (Pro) should offer cv out as well. Hope this helps.
The most interesting Monopoly video on YT
Excellent. Sick lead and great groove.
Thanks! I keep getting back to jamming on this idea exactly because of said reasons.
Well, youtube finally took me to a good random place to hang. Well done!
Sounds very relatable : D. Thx
@@paulfisko I'd just ordered a 2600 from sweetwater this week, waiting for it to arrive. A bit nervous and intimidated since it's my first synth with wires. :) Was trolling around youtube looking for videos of it in use, stumbled on this video. Damn, dude, you got game. Love how you get in to it, too, that energy level was pumping. I also got a NeutronMod and a Crave, figured would be a good start to learn how to mess with modulars. Anyway, keep making these, enjoyed it!
Ah this was an unexpected gem to stumble upon 🤘🔥
Tack så mycket : )
The first track is very impressive!
Thanks, it's called "Italone"
Mensch,, der legt sich aber ins Zeug
Von nix kommt nix!
Hi Friend, I have the VST plugin, but what youre doin here makes all the little variations in the Synth come forth. Debating digital vs analogue becomes futile.. Plus great Music ofcourse.
Hey there, thanks for stopping by. I own the plugin as well and it has two big advantages over the real thing: you neither need the square meters nor the € for owning it ; ). In the end it all comes down to what you primarily intend to do musically, produce or jam/play live. Jamming with a plugin is just not my thing but for production purposes it's much more handy to have (saved) presets and automation in your DAW, of course.
Nice job!
Thx!
Tapping my foot!
Always a / the good sign : D
This should have a ton more views and likes. Glad I found it anyway! Coz that's frick'n cool.
Thanks a lot for the kind words. Appreciated.
This is very cooL! I have some of the same gear you have... and hope, ONE DAY, to actually use it to this capacity. I'm still learning. I am watching this very intently and trying to follow each knob turn and button press, and trying to equate that to what has changed in the sound. I see that you are pressing something on the mixer around 4:48. Can you tell me what it is on the mixer you are pressing and what effect it is having on the sound? OH, so I just now went and looked on my mixer and this is about where the low cut button is on mine. And I did notice a slight change in the growl of the base. Is this what you were doing? ..cutting off the lower frequency of the base? Let me know if I am way off on my assumption here. Thanks Paul!
Hey there, thanks for watching. Glad you found this worthwile. The knob you're referring to is the bypass of the Electrix Filter Factory (analog filter) which I activate at that point. The audio signal then still gets processed by the Kaoss Pads (Quad & 3+) and the MX-1. You're actually not "way off" on your assumption as I play a lot with different filters in this jam! Hope this helps.
Nice
Thanks Cristhian
Excellent jam! Love those refreshing vibes. Sweet improvised stuff! Keep’m coming!
I will! Thanks for watching
❤️
Very inspiring!
Great track Paul. Count me in for another sub.
Thanks! Glad you like it.
Greats sounds and fantastic STUDIO!!!
Muchas gracias!
What a beautiful musical instruments and good musical experience!
Cheers!
What you made at 0:40 is insane. Instant follow.
Thanks man. I might turn it into a track one day. Will let you know if that's the case.
Nice Paul
Thank you, Cucu (probably falsely assuming that's your real name)
Sweet jam, great energy !
Cheers!
More Mono/Poly ? Got you covered: th-cam.com/video/YlXtvM5CZmI/w-d-xo.html
I hesitated to buy a Behringer MonoPoly for a long time because of already having too many synths. You sold it to me! 👏
Hope you'll have a lot of cross-modulated fun with it!
"Too many synths" : a sentiment to be ignored. ;)
@@riquester1971 I do ignore it. Unfortunately my cramped attic studio doesn’t.
4:35
And for the cooldown 4:33 by John Cage
This is great... Respect!
Cheers!
magical you’ve got the synth duende !
All of them combined form a time machine, allowing me to travel back in time to the good old "carefree" 80s! ; )
Thanks posting this Paul. I'm a Monopoly owner and have been looking for tips and tricks. There are two tracks done on a Monopoly and I am trying to figure how the possible configurations: (1) daniel avery - dream distortion th-cam.com/video/pplOPZpa6-A/w-d-xo.html it's a growly, rumbly motif throughout the song. (2) ghost culture - blue ice th-cam.com/video/tcmUqRVAC8U/w-d-xo.html i think that perhaps the filter is being modulation from an external S&H white noise. let me know what you think!
Well, interesting questions! Made me experiment more with those modulation options through cv. That Ghost Culture-track could've been created with the pretty cool tubbutec midi retrofit which adds a sample/hold-function to the MG1-options. The filter could also have been modulated via the fcM IN via an external source. This sounds very much like S/H-modulated indeed. The track by Daniel Avery reminds me of something I sometimes do with the keystep which is increasing and decreasing the speed/divide of the arpeggiator while it's running. It doesn't sound like a simple gate-out ->VCF fcM IN, because you can hear how the filter is opening up when the notes are triggered. So, not sure about that one. What are your thoughts on the Behringer version?
@@paulfisko thanks so much for getting back to me. Yes! I do think it has something to do with the tubbutec mod because it sounds like it could be random note assignment in poly mode but you can't send polyphonic data over CV.... so it's gotta be the tubbutec. I'm going to get one, although it means sacrificing that 'cycle through VCOs' arp mode. re: Behringer Monopoly, I undoubtedly have some bias but it doesn't sound like their best clone. I've owned a few behringer products and they are hit and miss. The ms101 sounds really good, the rd-8 is has many bugs... they are affordable and I learnt a lot from the Moog clone (my first proper subtractive analog i guess) but i will be supporting original manufacturers from now on
@@drthorpe8602 I've got the Tubbutec as well. It doesn't mean any sacrifices as far as I know : ). So keep cycling through those VCO's, and now finally in sync with the rest : D
Excellent well done.....love it.....thx for sharing
Thank u
MAJIK MELODIES AND MAJIK STUDIO!!!
Cheers man & thanks for watching.
Hows the deepmind keep up with high Tier anolog synths?
I can highly recommend the Deepmind12 (I own the D/desktop-version). Wouldn't want to miss it in my setup. It might not be as playful/hands-on as the Minilogue or the Mono/Poly but offers an awful lot of pretty awesome sound possibilities. Two combine all the voices in unison-mode to a synth-bass is great as is having a broad 12-voice-layered pad. Unfortunately the volume potentiometer started getting a little dust-noisy pretty soon but to me that's just a reminder to keep the gear as dust-free as possible.
