    U.K. update. USE POSTER PAINT, not acrylic. USE CLEAR SILICONE, not white silicone. I made a mess last night, it didn’t cure after a day. I then tested a batch of clear silicone with poster paint, set nicely after 20mins.

    • @atapene
      @atapene 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You need to use acetic cure silicon. Most general purpose silicon is neutral cure which will not set in the same way as acetic cure, which sets by addition of moisture (water). Poster paint is usually acrylic and adds the moisture.

    When I tried doing the "flat pass" today, sometimes the puck lifts and goes over my stick, the puck doesn't really move forwards, just upwards, do you know why that happens and what I am doing wrong? is that because of the spin as well?

    • @atapene
      @atapene 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I recommend starting with spinning the puck and slowly going for more and more power, to get the puck spinning off the end and get the timing working well. Then more power to get the puck to start to lift. If your stick is going under the puck yes go back a bit and work on spinning it and then build up the power again

      Having the fin the normal way on your feet gives you more comfort, it is good for diving and casual swimming, but having it upside down clearly makes the fin faster, as all the competitive players and fin swimmers do it that way.

  • @carstenchristensen9833

    Hi, thanx for sharing your experience about these fins:) I play uw-rugby and have until now used mares fins, which I fell is eating up a lot of power... I'm about to buy Some Najade fins and was looking at the UW or the iron but I can understand that you recommend the Sprint ones, what about those called "speed"?

    • @atapene
      @atapene 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When Najades first entered the scene one of our fins gurus Mr Benson Taylor did some research and testing with the different models and his verdict was Sprints are best for outright acceleration and speed for our sport. The Speed fins I think perhaps have some advantages over a long race? But we worry about basically speed/acceleration over 3m-5m, makes the biggest difference for us. I'm sure any of the Najade models Sprint/Speed/Uw/Iron would be a lot better than Mares Quattro... the angle of the foot is more streamlined, more natural, they are lighter on the foot, better agility. Every player is different and not everyone is the same, this is just my opinion of course

      I haven't tried it but they are amazing for bodysurfing? These are basically the fastest and most manouvreable fins you can get in a small size and they are very difficult to kick off so I'm sure they'd be almost perfectly suited to it (I'm the OP, posting from wrong account)

    Hey there, I'm a forward and I've been playing for a few months, I'm thinking of getting wombat but not sure coz my coach says katana fits forward better due to its slimmer blade so it's good for steals and quick hand moves. However i feel the katana is a bit hard to control, it slides of easily when curling and the passing is short (maybe my technique is wrong). I feel that the wombat gives very good pass and it's also easier to control for curling due to the larger hook. What do you suggest? Should i get the katana and get better at puck controls, or just get the wombat instead?

    • @hydrouwh3583
      @hydrouwh3583 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, sorry for the long delay! The difference is mostly in the hook for sure which you are feeling with the control. However, the Katana has a lot better control when you play with the stick vertical and not flat on the tiles? Which some people really love. It's all pros and cons. Should be able to get about as long a pass with Katana, maybe slightly shorter. In the end though I would base your choice on how you like to play and what feels best for your style, rather than on what you think should theoretically be best for the position. There are very defensive forwards and very aggressive backs... playing style is all more personal preference than determined by position.

    Hey! Thanks for the video, I really appreciate it! :) I forgot to say that we play 2-3-1 (both club and national level) the last couple of years based on what Andre Heller thought us when we played with him in a mix team in France :) I'm guessing its the mutated/coarse grained version of some NZ 2-3-1, because we filled the gaps in strategy and tactics ourselves :D "Forwards in pair" question: nice analogy. I expected the same, but feared that there are some magic rules :) "Corner" q.: my question what should the C position. In our trainings the space around the 'C' mark gets attacked a lot and sometimes the center who occupies it runs out of air. "Center/switch" q: so whatever works well for the team. "How deep to plan" q: yeah, I meant the top-top level teams, which you were part of. I'll try to be more precise next time I asking :) A lot of things seem to situational, where a player has to make a decision based on player position/how tired people are/etc.. What would you say is the best way to improve this kind of "game IQ"? Analyze games together? Do many few vs few situations? Just simply play a lot? Or each to their own and no magic solution? Cheers, Máté

    • @atapene
      @atapene 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the centre spot in the corner, anytime there's a space in that spot, the goalie can move up to fill it. How aggressively depends on the player, but id recommend being aggressive in doing it. For the training, yes i would totally recommend doing team analysis sessions at least some of the time. Preferably with video. Then you can see and talk through what's going on. Game situation drills as well, and dry walkthroughs can be very helpful. 😃

  • @Matepp92
    @Matepp92 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Liam, thanks for the content! Just throwing in some questions to have a discussion, feel free to ignore the stupid ones. You say multiple times that "forwards work together". Couple of question to this: - Does this mean, that they should sync their bottom time almost always or just when receiving a puck? - 6:39 we see the two forwards on the wall. Assuming we are stuck there a little bit without a chance to switch off should they go up/down together or start to rotate with each other? 8:48 Assuming the puck is in the corner all three positions marked with the left W, C and G need to occupied at all times. How does the rotation works here if the puck is there for on extended time? I can see that W-G-W can always manage to have at least 2 men on the back wall, but who should cover the Center if he is up for air? What kind of playstyle would you expect from your center in the usual NZ 2-3-1? Should the center generally be part of a whole pool wide switch? We used to involve the center in the most of the switches a couple of years ago, but nowadays (especially if its a deeper switch) as our center I usually just stay in the pocket a little bit ahead of the puck facing our own goal. Who should initiate a switch in an ideal case? How much freedom would you say the players have? We played around with "C/G decides the directions, everyone else follows", but that might limit the teams game a bit (although makes it more predictable for your team I guess?) Can you give us a general idea on how deep do you guys plan with strategy/tactics? I'm struggling here a bit. One can plan rotations, what we do during adv. puck or where to aim when we are in a given part of the playing field. But can you reliably plan more? Like for example always having a trigger on when to switch off the wall (for example "always in the second phase of the strong side wing") or "2 whole width switch then break into the middle with the third one" or anything similar. We generally fail to execute anything but the simplest things and with not bad players. I have a feeling that its just really hard to do these things in our sport, but its might just be not enough faith/practice...
