The Blades of Mercy is quite legit the best weapon in Bloodborne because it teaches you the point of its gameplay. BE AGGRESSIVE, BE BE AGGRESSIVE
Im at beginning of video but ill keep watching but u said eldens end game...? Elden has no end game, an area doesnt constitute end game i.e farum azula, haligtree, bloodborne does, chalice dungeons to go deeper and deeper and get sometimes better versions of weapons and grinding for gems to improve your build. Elden has nothing at all of the sort to further your build. Just the campaign and its over. Thats why no reason to play afterwards unless your a pvp fanatic which im not pvp is sooo boring after the millionth invasion. I need something to work toward to chase to make me stronger. All i have is make stat go higher by leveling thats not any type of longevity. Im not bashing ya im just talking really
when you talked about Malenia's difficulty and you said "I'm a guy with a job"...I felt that, mate. I felt that.
Elden ring should have ended at the capital. Everything after that was a chore
On the topic of having Marika and Radagon as the final 2 stage fight: I feel like Marika should be the 1st stage, but almost apathetic (either as not wanting to actually win the fight or having to focus so hard on maintaining control of the body) but when you're about the land the final blow, THAT'S when Radagon takes over
elden ring is the proof that miazaki and from software were always bad, and they just got lucky ... everything good they did was an un-intended accident xD also ... that is not exploration ... this is PRESSING W ... and you are all praising that x_x ... gaming is officially dead
Imagine unironically criticizing ER for requiring 'farming' (it doesn't you are simply wrong on this point) while praising Bloodborne which has a healing system which will ABSOLUTELY require farming on a first playthrough. I'm serious, Bloodborne is my favorite game as well but this video is rife with smooth brained takes like this. Either you didn't see the glaring hypocrisy while making this point, which says a lot about you and your critical thinking skills, or you're simply being disingenuous.
Did you seriously try to claim Bloodborne doesn't have animation reading...?🤦♂️ I swear every person that makes videos about this games is woefully under qualified to be doing so. MANY BOSSES IN BLOODBORNE ANIMATION READ AND IT HAS BEEN A STAPLE OF THE SERIES SINCE AT LEAST DS1! Stop pretending this is something unique to ER, it isn't... How about if you get hit for backing off and healing in neutral you simply stop doing that? No... It's way better to just blame the game.
take down your scholar of the first sin video, it's full of misinformation whether you did it on purpose or not
Elden Ring "Failed" with damn near 30 million sales, game of the year award 2022, numerous other awards and considered one of the best video games ever made by the vast majority of the gaming world. But Bloodborne, a game that didn't even sell 8 million copies, did NOT win game of the year and is actually rated lower according to by critics and fans than Elden Ring, succeeded? I'm sorry mate, common sense and logic would like a word 😂.
If your opinion is based on popularity and sales, then you know nothing.
@@Simon-S01104 if a game gets game of the year, most people who've played it calling it the best game ever made and nearly 30 million sales isn't considered a success, then I'd like to know what you consider "successful" 😂. You can have whatever opinion you like, but trying to deny this is really foolish. Also sales is just one metric for success, Elden Ring pretty much hit every single metric. As I said you can have any opinion you like but it's only your opinion, it's far from true 😂.
Most Souls fans can’t accept criticism because in their minds it diminishes their victory over these super hard bosses. They want difficulty at all costs and bad mechanics and gameplay are just “skill issues” you have to get over.
Obv entitled to your opinion, but I feel like people are just jaded nowadays. I went into Elden Ring with no expectations or assumptions. I thought they created a fantastic 10/10 'open-world' souls game. And I don't mean to boast but a lot of the game was almost too easy past the halfway point since I explored a lot. I welcomed any challenge that I could get. I felt the same about the DLC. My thought about the Melania and Radahn criticisms was "these mf's never fought The Nameless King" lol. That boss made me take months breaks from DS3 multiple times before I finally gottem. But beating the king is probably why I was so prepped for Elden Ring. In the end, it really seems like you're nitpicking when the reality is that you have to ship at some point when you're making a product and I think they really delivered us a fantastic product on ship. There were so many different bosses and experiences and there's so much content that you don't have to play if you don't want to. Comparing the full content of a massive open world game to any of the other souls games just seems like a misnomer. But I'm the kind of player that only does one playthrough in 99% of games I've ever played.
Sucks off this trash heap. Lies about DS2 and Sotfs. Gets called out for it and tries to do damage control by pausing comments. Lmao you're something else. A yapper with an accent that sounds like you have peen in your mouth
i forgive all wrongs with elden beast cause i really liked the ost and the visuals and also the way it appears and you never expect it :D also the way that dlc uses that ost is heartbreaking for some reason too, loved it
Fantastic video full of fantastic points. I think a major issue is that ER moves around the plot points it took from its sources of inspiration- I think it's clear a lot of the plot is based on Norse mythology, Ragnarok and the infighting amongst Gods, but that story ends with the Ice Giants burning the world down with their flame. In ER, the burning of the Erdtree felt to me like the most significant single occurrence and should have been at the very end for the most impact. You also make good points about Radagon and the Elden Beast. It would have made so much more intuitive sense to fight Radagon/Marika at the same time as they struggle against each other.
I never really had an issue with the Ghostflame Dragons. Sacred blade absolutely decimates them, even without any faith investment. Pair that with a striking weapon and they don't stand a chance.
I disagree with so many of your takes & I don’t want to type a 40 long paragraph comment, I think it’s a 9.5/10 DLC, it still has some flaws (just like any game ever), and I think it’s the best DLC From Software has made, it’s got an undeniable amount of quality & quantity.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
In every way
Another banger of a video! Honestly dude, you are so thorough with your look at the games that you always make me realize a lot of things I missed. For example, believe it or not, I never actually registered or paid attention to the fact there's something moving underwater in the flooded section of Shadow Keep! Getting to see that here, with the occasional tree falling, is awesome, and something I'd never have noticed if not for the video (even if it seems obvious). So thanks, loved watching it! Here's some comments on specific points: - Dude I did the SAME THING as you when starting the game: walked to the mausoleum, got wrecked and instantly realized what I had signed up for with this DLC lmao. Other specific notes: - I agree, Lamenter's Gaol was ASS. Not what you said exactly but I'm pretending it was for my own validation. - Rellana was one of the hardest bosses in the DLC for me for some of the reasons you mentioned. It's wild because most people I know had no problems with her??? - I hated the specimen storehouse for some reason... especially the damn rafters. - Gaius is like, the most frustrating boss I had the displeasure of fighting in this game, god damnit. I also think this fight was meant to be fought on horseback but... horse combat is ass. Like this boss. - Yes, the stone coffin fissure seal gets broken when you approach shadow keep and get the great rune text. - I really didn't like Ancient Rauh Ruins for some reason... - The ladder near the boats in Shadow Keep that leads to the area that eventually ends up in Abyssal Woods was apparently surprisingly easy to miss. Two of my friends never found it until we told them about it. - HOW WERE YOU RECORDING YOURSELF AT 1:58:00 ??? DO YOU HAVE 3 ARMS????? Seriously though, loved the video! Thank you for making it, and I'm looking forward to the next one!
I had a friend record me for that live video bit haha! This video was a lot of fun to make but oh my god it took so long
I had to go from level 114 to 136 just to try and beat Elden beast, shit i didn’t upgrade through most of the game until godskin duo, most fights were pretty fair (besides the fire giant)
The very end of the game really throws off the pace for me. Everything “wrong” with the bosses is IMO a function of how much patience I have for the battle. Having 4 bosses in a row (Tree Sentinal 2, Malekith, Godfrey, Radagon) is just too much. Even some more things to do in the ashy capital would help. Doesn’t help that the 3 last bosses ALL have 2nd phases that might as well be separate bosses with no shared moves. So each of the 3 have the problem of beating phase 1 just to be murdered by shit you haven’t seen before immediately.
you paused comments on your last video so i have to come here to laugh at you. git gud is for people like you. who suck and like to blame others.
You have a black and white photo of a military officer as your profile pic. Go back to fourchan and keep crying about Tyrone stealing your girlfriend.
I don't understand the problems people seem to have with the Scadutree fragments, especially since they patched the scaling. The advantage you get from levelling beyond 12 is basically negligible at this point, so pretty much all the fragments you need can be found along the obvious paths and finding more than half of them is unnecessary. On my second playthrough I deliberately stopped levelling at 8 because it was starting to make it too easy. I think they work as a pretty good form of scaling late game difficulty, and once you know how they work they are really good for regulating exactly how difficult you want it to be. Whatever you need and what the bosses are balanced around you can find on the main path. If you need more, you can get an extra edge from looking around a bit. If you find they are making it too easy you can just hold them in reserve until you find a challenge which seems to warrant levelling. If they had one problem in my experience is that on your first playthrough you don't really know how they scale so you can easily find yourself overlevelling with them (at least pre-patch). On my first playthrough I found there to be an inverted difficulty curve, where it got gradually easier through the DLC (until Radahn), I started killing late-game bosses like Romina and Metyr on my first attempt, and bosses like Messmer and Midra, once I got a feeling for their moveset, felt really undertuned for late-game encounters (although I loved them both). This is why I limited myself to around level 8 on my second playthrough, which I found an ideal level of difficulty for the late game, and basically required almost no exploration beyond the main path. Additionally, I know some people think it would be better if they treated them like golden seeds, having more in the world than what you need to get to max level, but personally I think this would make it even easier to accidentally overlevel encounters.
Imagine reading complaints and then not understanding them. Reading is not your strong suit huh. Maybe you should try reading them in spanish
I've had this discussion with a couple of different people and reached the conclusion that From is reaching the limits of what they can do with the traditional DS combat system unless they fundementally overhaul it or just try something new. Armored Core VI and Sekiro showed that the newer FromSoft devs can make other combat systems that are both a complete change of pace as well as being incredibly fun. Personally, I'd love to see them return to something in the vein of Kings Field or just a first person dungeon crawler in general.
I very much agree. If this was the last Souls-ish game From ever made, it’d be sad, but expected. There’s some iteration that can be done for Sekiro, I think, but other devs can do it. I admit I haven’t played AC6 yet though. I need to.
Possible spoiler for the next FromSoft game: the gameplay is rumored to be focused on the magic/sorcery aspects of combat, much like how Bloodborne and Sekiro focused on melee. With that, I'd imagine that the next game will feel fundamentally different and be smaller scale than Elden Ring.
I don’t get the hate for the messmer attack with the fact the timings on the actual snake heads are spaced apart enough to read and dodge it if you just take a look at the actual attack and you’re also trying to punish him in the middle of the attack, even if their is waiting while you dodge it he literally repositions himself infront of you for a free heavy attack afterwords as well, in the case of radahns meteors that was an attack that was nothing but downtime and detracted from the fight since he ended the attack miles away from you in phase 1(though the main talking about radahn is basically just phase 2)
The heck are you on about with NPCs? Not a single one of them requires being summoned to advance their quest line. At most summoning them get some extra, but entirely optional dialogue. Also, if anything, I found the NPC quest structure in the DLC far more streamlined than in the base game. Pretty sure none of them appear at more than two locations, and it's really only the second location where any critical progression occurs. The first location is generally just for optional dialogue that gives more insight into their background and motives, but isn't otherwise required to complete anything.
Igon and Hornsent require you to summon them into the Bayle and Messmer fights, respectively
@@thelegendofxander: nope, both are still entirely optional. You can still get all the same items regardless. The only difference summoning hornsent makes is that instead of joining on Leda's gank fight, he will invade you solo at Rauh. If you want to prevent him from joining Leda though, you can also help her kill him in Shadow Keep prior to fighting Mesmer. You get slightly different rewards for helping Leda, but they are equally unique to the what you could get by helping Hornsent, so both options are an equally valid resolution.
The NPC quests were far more streamlined than the base game. I genuinely don't understand how people still find them obscure. They progress pretty naturally along the main path of the game, far more than the base Elden Ring quests.
I think the dlc is a solid 7/10. But I think that's gonna piss people off. Its because it has 11/10 moments but then it will have 5/10 moments. So its in a weird place. DS3 and BB dlcs are just more focused and consistent.
Absolutely. Ringed City is my favourite dlc. Old Hunters still has its low points but it’s less of a level design thing and just some bosses being kinda bad. Living failures suuuuuck and Lawrence isn’t good either. But the level design is peak and the other bosses are badass.
I'm gay and even I think Living Failures and Lawrence are good, so it's just you being an idiot.
Sacdu felt weird, and bosses are WAY overtuned. But, the looks are cool and the new items are baller
Is this even a question? This by far the best fromsoft dlc
Gonna disagree. It’s great (which once you watch you’ll find out), but it’s not their best. Ringed City and Old Hunters are so SO good.
By far? You're joking
If you ask me , this DLC is the second weakest in From Software's repertoire. Only Crown of The Old Iron King is weaker. I would give it a 6/10.
Nah fuck bayle 21:50
jump button makes ER easiest souls game
It's worth playing for sure. I am not excited to revisit this world though.
Having no option to replay the bosses is a crime against humanity
this video is too kind. are you afraid of the fans? I don't see how it's fun exploring a massive empty map looking for fragments, and I don't know how you can call the bosses well designed when they're some of the most abhorrent bosses from has ever designed
Those are absolutely things I mention! It’s certainly not perfect, but the good outweighs the bad, at least to me
@@thelegendofxanderI just don't see it to be honest. You explain a lot of what's wrong with it but then say it's worth it despite the problems because it's still fun and the dungeons are good. I just don't agree with you. It's weak and has all of the problems of the main game but exacerbated. The only point I agree with is that the side dungeons have been improved, but I still don't think they hold a candle to souls dungeons and I don't think souls works well in an open world, so all of the concessions they've made for it are just pointless to me.
Totally fair! I like the tighter level design too, which is why shadow keep is my favourite part. The overworld, barring some exceptions is a bit featureless, yes, and some of the bosses are purely frustrating. I think if the scadu blessings were gone then the scaling wouldn’t be anywhere near as insane and it wouldn’t feel as frustrating.
@@thelegendofxander I like tight level design when it means something, but the over abundance of graces meant there was no tension and the lack of enemy variety made most of the legacy dungeons really dull and pretty easy. Then I'd just get killed a billion times by one really overpowered horned knight enemy. If scadu fragments weren't a thing it still wouldn't solve my problems with the design overall
There's a reason er outsold all 3 dark souls games 😂

Correct! Now watch the video haha
I loved most of Elden Ring but what dropped my enjoyment of it immensely were the reused bosses… sometimes a bit less is more.. it just ruined my immersion of this otherwise awesome world somehow :(
I'm confused, why is he talking about Malenia input reading as if attacking *any* boss while they're idle is a good idea in this game? You don't attack bosses if they're not in a endlag animation, isn't that Elden Ring 101?
Cos he was making the point of her waterfowl specifically. If she initiates waterfowl in his face when he starts an attack, regardless if he attacked her 1st or not, he's dead. Waterfowl is the main problem here. And he also mentioned input reading with other enemies as well.
Guess dude didn't beat Margit first try
Ah yes. Cos u definitely did right?
@anonisnoone6125 Yeah, I did. I fought him 6 times before exploring. When I died. I went to explore, getting the bloodhound fang blade, searching for a rune and smiting stones, and golden seed. From there I was able to kill him
@@RingingTheBell836 Then you didn't beat him first try...
17:35 Sony won't make Blodbrone PC a thing, but the community has finally.
I still think about Bloodborne on a weekly basis 9 years later. Elden Ring... i struggle to remember most parts from the story and world. Apart from the legacy dungeons, those were fantastic. The story is just so bad..
The orphan is the source of the nightmare. A lot of npcs will claim its Kos but the game shows/tells you its the orphan.
Wtf?? I was able so summon torrent vs elden beast. Did they add this or what?
It was added with the dlc
I like volcano manor's shortcut where you activate a draw bridge to access the last site of grace instead of just slapping a stake of Marika outside the boss room. It felt way more interactive and I wish they fleshed it out more to justify the enemies being so hard in some places.
100% agree. The moment I walked through the cave boss veil to a second Astel, I was mad. Up until then, I was into exploring and delighted with new creatures … and then I was pulled out of it by what was clearly a copy paste to inflate an unnecessarily large world.
BB>ER
"i'm a normal guy with a job. i can't invest that time [to learn waterfowl dance]" > makes a 45min video
U think he made and edited this all in 1 go?
@@anonisnoone6125 i don't. That's why i have a point. 45min wouldn't be much. The time it took to make this video would be enough to learn at least three waterfowl dances
32:10 - I know this is old, but I gotta point out that Elden Beast IS foreshadowed. I wasn’t necessarily waiting for Elden Beast, but the second it started to appear I went “Oh, fuck. That’s right. The star beast!” In Deeproot Depths at the end of the cave with all the ants, you find the Elden Stars incantation and it reads: “It is said that long ago, the Greater Will sent a golden star bearing a beast into the Lands Between, which would later become the Elden Ring.”
Elden Ring is the greatest Souls Game for me. Having played it all, Elden Ring has been my favourite. DLC was a bit of a let down i feel. But it''s fine. Bloodborn combat is the best combat i agree.
Personally I dont feel like the Animation Reading is that big of a deal, all games have ai, all bosses are designed to lose. I am also a solo only player, it took me 280 attempts to take out melania at SL149, with 60 vigor and 50 strength. No Magic, No Summons, No Enchantments, No Status Effects, No Pots, Nothing. A 2 handed dismounter. While I do agree with a lot of the points here, I think this comes down to you being too greedy. I saw MULTIPLE times where you just take a hit because of your own greed in half of this footage. You talk about rules, but then praise Hoarah Loux when he breaks literally all fundementals outside of his stomp buff from the phase prior. What exactly are these "rules"?
I also dont think you understand the full point lore-wise of the elden beast, it was coming from a Meteorite that hit the Lands Between, and is actually THE elden ring itself, not just showing up out of nowhere. The Elden Beast doesnt want to kill Radagon because hes been trying to reforge the elden ring which Marika initially broke, which is in tune with the Greater Will of the Golden Order. While I do agree that the boss itself comes out of nowhere in a sense, i do not agree that it has no place whatsoever. Should it have very specifically been unlocked from an ending? sure, but its not dogshit, the endings however were very very cookie cutter outside of 2, I'm with you there.
All in all, i do agree with a lot of this video, especially the linearity of what is past Leyndell, the lack of shortcuts, and gripes with consecrated snowfield/the brace of the haligtree. Good video, outside of a few minor things, I might actually sub
I disagree. Input reading is stupid and a shit way to add difficulty. Malenia is definitely mid imo. Her waterfowl and healing r the main reasons y I think she's just bad. Although I can lie that most of her moves aren't fun to dodge. And What rules r u talking about that Houra Loux breaks?
