The soundtrack of D1 only solidifies it as the best horror game of the franchise. Considering the hero(Aidan- stupid retcon imo) meets a tragic fate by the end(and in D2), the deeper you go through the labyrinth, the more melancholic the OST gets. You get a sense that hope has abandoned you, and you are heading into the maw of horror itself; you will never see light as others do again, and you know somehow even if youve never played, that things cant possibly end well for you. And they dont. I think thats part of the magic of Diablo as a series, the story with the first 3(have yet to play 4), first 2 most especially, is hopeless, beginning in terror and blood and ending on even worse notes than they begin.

lvl 32, Dlvl 51 on my own back when I was 13. I just couldn't get past the army of cubii waiting for me down there. by then I was back and forth w/D2 LoD dlc. I got good with the cube on that one.

Demons playing basketball.

When my friend got this game I was 6 years old, him too. We didnt know English, we struggled to understand the items mods etc. but we made it through, slowly taking our path to hell. I was deelpy disturbed by succubes and shit as I played warrior. Then two years later I got Diablo 2 and wow .. thanks Uelmen and Blizzard north for this great part of my childhood ❤
