Very enjoyable video. I can remember our school coaches very well. Our local operator used an all Duple fleet during my school years around 1965 to 1975. As I remember these were Bella Vegas, the majestic six wheeled Vega Major (my favourite). They also operated what looked the same as the Bella Vega, but with an inward opening front door, it even retained the same iconic ‘ sloping window’ design as per Bella Vega. It had the chromed name Marauder in the same place and letter style as the Bella Vega. During the last few months of my school years, the company began using the futuristic looking Duple Viceroy? I still preferred the Vega Major! Back in 1967, Santa bought me a Dinky Toys Vega Major, complete with flashing lights and working steering. Happy days.

This is excellent. Unfortunately I can only identify a small fraction of these even though I was around some of this era as a child but I was always interested in unusual buses and coaches, particularly Ribble which operated out of Manchester where I lived then. I was, and still am, fascinated by the Ribble White Ladies which were double deck coaches. I can't recall seeing any others of this category at that time until the Gay Hostess Atlanteans came along. I think that there may be only one of the White Ladies left. Nice to see that none of these photos show vehicles plastered over with advertising or the name of the operator.

@@barryhumphriesinc.broughto3098 I always check for voice, and mute until the marker. I was a professional DJ for 16 years, and can't stand the sound of artificially generated muzak. I always prefer the sound of the trains moving to computer generated noise. It is like when I watch classic car racing and the music drowns out the sounds of the racing. Or watch a video about mountain climbing, and they play muzak over the top, I can't hear the wind, or the eagles, or other birds, the gentle noise of the sheep. Much nicer, unless the music is written especially for the soundtrack, maybe just oboe and harp. Quiet pastoral music, like used to be played on "The Victorian Kitchen Garden". I love your layout. I have 4 Class 08, and another 2 on the way. I have just ordered 2 x Class 20, and a 66, plus a couple of EMUs. Great to see you enjoy your self and combine it with your other passion and youth sentiment. But what really grasp me, was the age you got your first set and still have it in the box. I'm similar like you, I was 5 years old when I made my first trip to the UK from Belgium, to visit my relatives in Nottingham. And my nephew had a set on the attic floor, and I spend almost my hole Holliday on that attic, where I got serious ill with the model train disease. A week after we returned back home, I got my first train set, a Märklin set, as British trains weren't available here. A bout 20 years later, I walked into a British model train shop, and there my first love for British trains came back, since I only collect British stuff. Only last year I sold all my Märklin stuff, only to buy more British stuff, but my first set still in box, that was to emotional to depart of. Enjoy the model railway illness, there is no cure for it, so you might better enjoy it😅 regards, Danny
