Hit The Town: A Christmas Story House Exploration (with Museum and Store features)
CLEVELAND - Few holiday traditions bring as much joy and nostalgia as A Christmas Story, the 1983 film that has charmed audiences for over four decades. Its famous house, located in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood, has become a pilgrimage site for fans, especially during the holiday season. Cleveland 13’s Nikkie Brown recently visited the Christmas Story House, Museum, and Gift Shop for her Hit The Town series, giving viewers a glimpse of what makes this attraction a must-see destination.
Accompanied by tour guide Stephen Misencik, Brown began her visit at the museum across the street from the house. The museum offers an in-depth look at the film’s history, showcasing original props, costumes, and memorabilia. Misencik explained how the museum’s collection includes fan contributions from across the globe. “This is artwork from all over the world. People who are fans of the film over the last 41 years have compiled quite a bit of interest from people,” he said, gesturing to the extensive wall of fan art.
Among the treasures displayed are Randy’s snowsuit, Ralphie’s cherished Red Ryder BB gun, and the chalkboard from Miss Shields’ classroom. Visitors can also view a detailed exhibit dedicated to the Little Orphan Annie decoder device, which features prominently in a memorable scene where Ralphie discovers his secret message is a commercial for Ovaltine.
Misencik revealed behind-the-scenes details about the film’s production, including the surprising fact that no snow was on the ground during filming. “The crew had to create fake snow,” he said, adding that they used instant mashed potato flakes and firefighter foam to achieve the wintery setting.
Brown’s next stop was the famous house itself, which served as the exterior setting for the movie. Inside, it has been meticulously restored to resemble the film’s Canadian soundstage interiors, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in Ralphie’s world. “When they first walked into the house, it really didn’t look anything like the visitor experience you’re seeing just now,” Misencik said, referencing the transformation that has taken place over the years.
The house offers a walk-through experience that takes fans into the Parker family’s living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. The attention to detail is impressive, with props such as the bar of soap Ralphie used for his infamous punishment and the notepad he used to decode his “crummy commercial” message on display. Even the kitchen has been painstakingly recreated to reflect the film’s 1940s setting, down to the smallest details.
Brown learned that for superfans, the house offers an even deeper connection to the film. Overnight stays are available, providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity to relive the magic of A Christmas Story. Misencik shared that the site sees nearly 100,000 visitors annually, with the holiday season drawing the largest crowds.
Next, Brown visited the adjacent gift shop, where hundreds of items related to the film are available for purchase. Fans can find replicas of Ralphie’s “Pink Nightmare” bunny suit, miniature leg lamps, ornaments, and even collectible models of the Parker family home. Small-scale versions of the house, similar to those featured in the museum’s displays, are also for sale.
In a lighthearted moment, Brown tried on the pink bunny suit herself and wore it throughout her tour of the house, delighting visitors and staff alike. The experience highlighted the playful and nostalgic charm that has kept A Christmas Story a cherished part of holiday celebrations for 41 years.
Fans who cannot make it to Cleveland can still experience the house and museum through a popular video tour by TH-camr Jordan the Lion on his channel Daze with Jordan the Lion. The video, filmed a year ago, has garnered a variety of heartfelt comments from viewers. One user wrote, “It’s not Christmas time without watching A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation at least once 🎄👍🏻.” Another fan shared, “A Christmas Story is my absolute favorite Christmas movie. Every year I watch it on repeat since I never can get enough of it. Now watching the movie is more special thanks to you, Jordan. Learned so much from this video. Thank you!!”
Fans visiting Cleveland this holiday season can look forward to special events, including appearances by Ian Petrella, who played Ralphie’s younger brother Randy, on December 20 and 21. Patty Johnson, who played the Head Elf, will also visit the gift shop on December 21. For those unable to visit, the tour video by Jordan the Lion and Cleveland 13 News provide a window into this cherished holiday destination.

Will this become a meme?
Another day, another democrat run city. Keep voting for them and wondering why you aren't safe anywhere anymore.
omg it’s the temu pumpkin
DEFUND THE POLICE
usual suspects
I kind of see a family guy cutaway. This happens, "Officer down officer down, I need assistance!" Then a bunch of squad cars show up, cops step out and start shooting the balloon. The officer inside gasps for air. Someone nearby says "Are you ok?"........ And so on. Maybe the guy inside that was rescued says a very funny response or how he said it.
No arrests EVER what a Joke this city is!!😢😮
Next time you gotta do a tour of their skateboard museum in the barn!
Wow why is he not in jail ? Thats some corrupt BS going on their ! Why is no one from the police or the ohio govronment on a state level doing anything .
Nikki Brown has it going on!
Why didn’t they sell it?
Nikki you killed it
Councilman Billings is nothing but a bully and a thug, how is he in a position of authority ?
Rittenhouse is a MURDERER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6:04 my interview
One of the best experiences of my life! Especially when I caught the hair in the hobbits panel!!
He’s a murderer. People who defend him are dumb. He was a kid who illegally obtained a gun and took it across state lines where he killed several people.
Why do you think you're not allowed to retaliate against someone threatening you with death and attempting to carry out those death threats. He didn't illegally obtain a gun nor took it across any state lines. Little ironic don't you think to call people dumb when you perpetuate nonsense that's been debunked for over 3 years.
@@Handymancinema He illegally obtained a gun at 17 years old. The guy that bought it for him "Dominick Black" was charged but took a plea deal for his testimony. 2nd he took a gun he wasn't suppose to own across state lines which requires a Federal Fire Arm license (FFL), which he obviously didn't have. Kyle Rittenhouse skirted justice because of some technicality. He's a murderer trying to profit off of his crimes. You people are dumb enough to support him.
@@Queensdecline His possession was lawful as deemed in court. He didn't own any guns. Prove he took any guns across any states. Guaranteed you will not be able to. Self defense isn't mrd, he didn't commit any crms. There's nothing wrong with a victim sharing their story at a profit. You people are dumb enough to parrot complete nonsense and cry about a caricature that has no basis in reality.
How screwed up that country is. Someone attacked by psychos burning a city to the ground defends themselves and is vilified after being dragged through the legal system, potentially facing life in jail but prevailing beyond reasonable doubt. No wonder the US is a laughing stock to the whole world.
Kid became a bargin bin batman vigilante, then murdered people and claimed it was self-defense and tried to make a career out of pretending he was the victim. 😂
He didn't enforce any laws so not a vigilante. He didn't mrd anyone. He was the only one who had crms committed against him that makes him the victim.
@@Handymancinema How's that boot taste?
@@TerribleTom113 That boot thing is just your cult, it's not practiced elsewhere.
Annie Marie might be a little biased.... but then again what do you expect from a Journalist
Quite TONE DEAF OF KENT STATE, in the wake of killing students for protesting!!!!!🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
Can we get back to that era when America is more care-free and anybody can attend or visit any college without having to protest every little thing? You are free to protest, but you're also protesting against freedom of another person. This behavior needs to end.
These people are such losers. Imagine being a college student caring about this shit.
A verdict, and video evidence, that should have left NOBODY questioning the justice systems decision.
Every intellegent soul know that it was self defence who had seen that video, rioters chased him and tried to kill him so yeah he was defending himself from rioters so why there is protests? or are people just idiots
Save The Country, Dump Drumpf and Putin cultists!
If the phrase "NPC" could be defined with an image this "protest" would be perfect.
He was in the right
Didn't Kyle smoke some pedo dude?
They're mad that life doesn't work like a video game on easy mode with cheats on. They're mad that in real life their enemies don't just stand there and get killed without fighting back.
One of the people he shot was caught on camera during the protest, calling someone the n word.
Sure it’s okay to defend yourself however that kid had no business being where he was. He should have been at home. He just wanted to play cop/soldier or something. What a 🤡
Neither did many of the BLM protesters, who weren't from the local area
That's not a crime though
And the hundreds of other people shouldn't they be home also?! What excuse would you give them for being there many of whom were also armed, or do they get a pass.
She should not have been out alone at night. And why was she wearing a skirt......... You're one of those people.
Not a single person shot by Kyle was from Kenosha. They all were from further away than Kyle was. Kyle lives less than 20 minutes away from the center of Kenosha. The person he shot that lived closest to Kenosha, was 25 minutes away from the center.
kent ingerland
Current year colleges are concentrated cretinism.
Anyone else notice how the Right let's leftists have their say, allowing them to expose their own insane ideology. Where as the Left, constantly wants to censor the Right from speaking truth and facts.
They attacked him and he defended himself … bang bang get over it
Kyle is a punk and has a few missing screws, he went out there that night looking for action and he killed 1 guy and destroyed another guys arm. Total loser.
Hero of Kenosha
This is some horribly biased Reporting, and is deeply concerning, I would not have Annie Marie back as a guest reporter, and whomever else wrote this should be brought in for coaching based on this work.
Kyle Rittenhouse is Captain America.
Kyle would've fit right in with the national guard in 1970.
Thank You!!
When civil war breaks out. I will stand with Texas and Kylie. Hi from Australia
Thank you 🙏
kyle was way within his rights to defend himself with force, he had reason to believe his life was in danger during the 2020 riot as he was threated with blunt weapons and a gun
The universities have brainwashed the children and now America is fully woke 🤣. Now deal with it 😂
Bro we live in crazy times man. There was literal video evidence of Kyle defending himself against multiple attackers, proven innocent in court, and people still think it’s some conspiracy or race issue. Jesus Christ help us
Kyle was aquited because he killed white man !! Guess on what side of the debate is the above statement.
Goes to show the woke mob is full of hate, and vitriol. College campuses no longer protect free-speech the facist sheep have took them over.
College Democrats in 1960's: "We want racially separate water fountains, and spaces." College Democrats in 2024: "We want black only dorms, spaces, and graduation ceremonies."
Poor kid still getting hit in the media
